Isaiah 37
1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the Lord.
Quando o rei Ezequias o ouviu, rasgou suas roupas, cobriu-se de pano de saco e entrou na casa de Iavé.
2 And he sent Elyakim, who was superintendent over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the son of Amoz, the prophet.
Ele enviou Eliakim, que estava sobre a casa, e Shebna, o escriba, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes, cobertos com pano de saco, ao profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz.
3 And they said unto him, Thus hath said Hezekiah, A day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of derision is this day; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
Disseram-lhe: “Hezekiah diz: 'Hoje é um dia de problemas, e de repreensão, e de rejeição; pois as crianças chegaram ao nascimento, e não há forças para dar à luz'.
4 Perhaps the Lord thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to blaspheme the living God, and who hath reproached with the words which the Lord thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up a prayer for the remnant that is still found here.
Pode ser que Yahweh seu Deus ouça as palavras de Rabshakeh, que o rei da Assíria, seu mestre, enviou para desafiar o Deus vivo, e irá repreender as palavras que Yahweh seu Deus ouviu. Portanto, levantai vossa oração pelo remanescente que resta”.
5 And the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
Então os servos do rei Ezequias vieram a Isaías.
6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus hath said the Lord, Be not afraid because of the words which thou hast heard, with which the boys of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
Isaías disse-lhes: “Dizei a vosso senhor: 'Javé diz: 'Não temais as palavras que ouvistes, com as quais os servos do rei da Assíria me blasfemaram'.
7 Behold, I will put an [other] spirit in him, and when he will hear a rumor, he shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
Eis que colocarei nele um espírito e ele ouvirá notícias, e voltará para sua própria terra”. Fá-lo-ei cair pela espada em sua própria terra””.
8 And Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah; for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
Então Rabshakeh voltou, e encontrou o rei da Assíria em guerra contra Libnah, pois soube que ele havia partido de Laquis.
9 And he heard it said of Thirhakah the king of Ethiopia, He is come out to fight with thee. And when he had heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
Ele ouviu notícias a respeito de Tirhakah, rei da Etiópia, “Ele saiu para lutar contra você”. Quando ouviu, enviou mensageiros a Ezequias, dizendo:
10 Thus shall ye say to Hezekiah the king of Judah, as followeth, Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given up into the hand of the king of Assyria.
“Assim falareis a Ezequias, rei de Judá, dizendo: 'Não deixeis que vosso Deus em quem confiais vos engane, dizendo: “Jerusalém não será entregue nas mãos do rei da Assíria”.
11 Behold, thou thyself hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands by destroying them utterly: and thou alone shouldst be delivered?
Eis que vocês ouviram o que os reis da Assíria fizeram com todas as terras, destruindo-as completamente. Será que vocês serão entregues?
12 Have the gods of the nations which my fathers destroyed delivered them, as Gozan, and Charan, and Rezeph, and the children of 'Eden, who were in Thelassar?
Os deuses das nações os entregaram, que meus pais destruíram, Gozan, Haran, Rezeph e os filhos do Éden que estavam em Telassar?
13 Where is the king of Chamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvayim, of Hena', and 'Ivvah?
Onde está o rei de Hamath, e o rei de Arpad, e o rei da cidade de Sefarvaim, de Hena, e Ivvah?'”.
14 And Hezekiah took the letter out of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the Lord, and spread it out before the Lord.
Hezekiah recebeu a carta da mão dos mensageiros e a leu. Então Hezekiah foi até a casa de Yahweh e a espalhou antes de Yahweh.
15 And Hezekiah prayed unto the Lord, saying,
Ezequias orou a Javé, dizendo:
16 O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, who dwellest between the cherubim, thou art the [true] God, thou alone, for all the kingdoms of the earth; [for] it is thou who hast made the heavens and earth.
“Javé dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, que é entronizado entre os querubins, vós sois o Deus, mesmo só vós, de todos os reinos da terra. Vocês fizeram o céu e a terra.
17 Bend down, O Lord, thy ear, and hear; open, O Lord, thy eye, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he hath sent to blaspheme the living God.
Vira teu ouvido, Yahweh, e ouve. Abre os olhos, Yahweh, e vê. Ouça todas as palavras de Sennacherib, que enviou para desafiar o Deus vivo.
18 Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have devastated all the nations, and their land;
Verdadeiramente, Javé, os reis da Assíria destruíram todos os países e suas terras,
19 And they have placed their gods into the fire; for they are no gods, but the work of man's hands, wood and stone; and these have they destroyed.
e lançaram seus deuses no fogo; pois não eram deuses, mas obra de mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso os destruíram.
20 And now, O Lord our God, save us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord, thou alone.
Agora, portanto, Javé nosso Deus, salve-nos de sua mão, para que todos os reinos da terra saibam que você é Javé, até mesmo você somente”.
21 Then sent Isaiah the son of Amoz unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me concerning Sennacherib the king of Assyria:
Então Isaías, filho de Amoz, enviou a Ezequias, dizendo: “Javé, o Deus de Israel diz: 'Porque me rezastes contra Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria,
22 This is the word that the Lord hath spoken over him: She despiseth thee, she laugheth thee to scorn, the virgin daughter of Zion; behind she shaketh her head, the daughter of Jerusalem.
esta é a palavra que Javé falou a seu respeito: A filha virgem de Sião o desprezou e o ridicularizou. A filha de Jerusalém sacudiu sua cabeça para você.
23 Whom hast thou blasphemed, and [whom] hast thou scorned? and against whom hast thou raised thy voice, and lifted up thy eyes on high? against the Holy One of Israel.
A quem você desafiou e blasfemou? Contra quem você exaltou sua voz e ergueu os olhos para o alto? Contra o Santo de Israel.
24 Through thy servants hast thou blasphemed the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots am I indeed come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down its tall cedars, the choice of its fir-trees: and I will enter into the height of its summit, the forest of its fruitful soil.
Por seus servos, você desafiou o Senhor e disse: “Com a multidão de minhas carruagens subi ao cume das montanhas, às partes mais íntimas do Líbano. Cortarei seus altos cedros e seus ciprestes escolhidos”. Entrarei em sua altura mais longínqua, a floresta de seu campo fértil.
25 I have dug, and drunk water; and I will dry up with the sole of my feet all the streams of besieged places.
Eu cavei e bebi água, e com a planta dos meus pés vou secar todos os rios do Egito”.
26 Hadst thou not heard, that in distant ages I had prepared this? in the times of antiquity when I formed it? now have I brought it along, and it came to pass to desolate into ruinous heaps fortified cities.
“'Você não sabe como eu o fiz há muito tempo, e o formei nos tempos antigos? Agora eu a fiz passar, que deveria ser sua para destruir cidades fortificadas, transformando-as em montões em ruínas.
27 And thus their inhabitants were of short power, they were discouraged and confounded: they were as the herbs of the field, and as the green grass; as the moss on the housetops, and as corn blasted before the ear appeareth.
Portanto, seus habitantes tinham pouco poder. Ficaram consternados e confundidos. Eram como a erva do campo, e como a erva verde, como a erva no topo da casa, e como um campo antes de sua colheita ter crescido.
28 But thy abiding, and thy going out, and thy coming in do I know, and thy raging against me.
Mas eu sei que vocês se sentam, saem, entram e se enfurecem contra mim.
29 Because of thy raging against me, and thy tumult, that is come up into my ears, will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle between thy lips, and I will cause thee to turn back on the way by which thou camest.
Por causa de sua raiva contra mim, e porque sua arrogância subiu em meus ouvidos, por isso colocarei meu gancho em seu nariz e meu freio em seus lábios, e o farei voltar pelo caminho pelo qual você veio.
30 And this shall be unto thee the sign, Ye shall eat this year what groweth of itself, and in the second year what springeth after the same; and in the third year sow, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.
“'Este será o sinal para você: Você comerá este ano o que cresce de si mesmo, e no segundo ano o que brota dele; e no terceiro ano semear e colher e plantar vinhedos, e comer seus frutos.
31 And the remnant of the house of Judah that is escaped shall yet strike root downward, and bear fruit upward.
O remanescente que escapou da casa de Judá voltará a criar raízes para baixo, e dará frutos para cima.
32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and that which escapeth out of Mount Zion: the zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
Pois de Jerusalém sairá um remanescente, e os sobreviventes escaparão do Monte Sião. O zelo de Javé dos Exércitos fará isso”.
33 Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, and he shall not shoot an arrow thereon, nor come before it with shields, nor cast up an embankment against it.
“Portanto Yahweh diz a respeito do rei da Assíria: “Ele não virá a esta cidade, nem atirará uma flecha lá, nem virá diante dela com escudo, nem levantará um monte contra ela”.
34 On the way by which he came, by the same shall he return, and into this city shall he not come, saith the Lord.
Ele retornará pelo caminho que veio, e não virá a esta cidade”, diz Yahweh.
35 And I will shield this city to save it for my own sake, and for the sake of David my servant.
'Pois eu defenderei esta cidade para salvá-la, para meu próprio bem e para o bem do meu servo David'”.
36 Then went out an angel of the Lord, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty and five thousand men; and when people arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
Então o anjo de Yahweh saiu e atingiu cento e oitenta e cinco mil homens no acampamento dos assírios. Quando os homens se levantaram cedo pela manhã, eis que eram todos cadáveres.
37 And Sennacherib the king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
Então Sennacherib, rei da Assíria, partiu, foi embora, voltou para Nínive e ficou lá.
38 And it came to pass, as he was prostrating himself in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Essar-chaddon his son became king in his stead.
Quando ele estava adorando na casa de Nisroch seu deus, Adrammelech e Sharezer seus filhos o golpearam com a espada; e eles escaparam para a terra de Ararat. Esar Haddon, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
