Genesis 23
1 And the lifetime of Sarah was a hundred and twenty-seven years; [these] were the years of the life of Sarah.
१सारा एकशे सत्तावीस वर्षे जगली; ही सारेच्या आयुष्याची वर्षे होती.
2 And Sarah died in Kiryath-arba, the same in Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
२सारा कनान देशातील किर्याथ-आर्बा, म्हणजे, कनान देशातले हेब्रोन येथे मरण पावली. अब्राहामाने सारेसाठी शोक केला आणि तिच्यासाठी तो रडला.
3 And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke unto the sons of Heth, saying,
३मग अब्राहाम उठला आणि आपल्या मृत पत्नीपासून गेला, व हेथीच्या मुलांकडे जाऊन म्हणाला,
4 A stranger and a sojourner I am with you; give me a possession for a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
४“मी तुमच्यात परदेशी आहे. कृपा करून मृताला पुरण्यासाठी मला तुमच्यामध्ये माझ्या मालकीची अशी जागा मंजूर करा, म्हणजे मी माझ्या मृताला पुरू शकेन.”
5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him:
५हेथीच्या मुलांनी अब्राहामाला म्हटले,
6 Hear us, my lord; a prince of God thou art among us; in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, so that thou mayest bury thy dead.
६“माझ्या स्वामी, आमचे ऐका. तुम्ही आमच्यामध्ये देवाचे सरदार आहात. आमच्याकडे असलेल्या उत्तम थडग्यात तुमच्या मयताला पुरा. आमच्यातील कोणीही आपले थडगे तुम्हास द्यायला मना करणार नाही.”
7 And Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, to the children of Heth.
७अब्राहाम उठला व त्याने हेथीच्या मुलांना आणि देशातील लोकांस नमन केले.
8 And he spoke with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and intercede for me with Ephron the son of Zochar,
८तो त्यांना म्हणाला, “जर माझ्या मयताला पुरण्यासाठी तुम्ही सहमत आहात, तर मग माझे ऐका आणि माझ्याबरोबर सोहराचा मुलगा एफ्रोन याला माझ्यासाठी विनंती करा.
9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which is his, which is at the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me, for a possession as a burying-place amongst you.
९त्याच्या मालकीची शेताच्या एका टोकाला असलेली मकपेलाची गुहा मला विकत द्यायला सांगा. ती त्याने पूर्ण किंमतीस मला उघडपणे माझ्या मालकीची मृतांना पुरण्याची जागा म्हणून विकत द्यावी.”
10 And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, and of all those that went in at the gate of his city, saying,
१०तेथे एफ्रोन हा हेथीच्या मुलांबरोबर बसलेला होता, आणि हेथीची मुले व त्याच्या नगराच्या वेशीत येणारे सर्व ऐकत असता, एफ्रोन हित्ती याने अब्राहामाला उत्तर दिले, तो म्हणाला,
11 Nay, my lord, hear me: the field I give to thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it to thee; in the presence of the sons of my people do I give it to thee; bury thy dead.
११“नाही, माझे स्वामी, माझे ऐका. मी ते शेत आणि त्यामध्ये असलेली गुहा तुम्हास देतो. येथे माझ्या लोकांच्या मुलांसमक्ष मी ते शेत व ती गुहा मी तुम्हास देतो. तुमच्या मृताला पुरण्यास मी ते तुम्हास देतो.”
12 And Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.
१२मग अब्राहामाने देशातील लोकांसमोर स्वतः वाकून नमन केले.
13 And he spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wouldst only hear me; I will give the money for the field, take it off me, and I will bury my dead there.
१३देशातले लोक ऐकत असता तो एफ्रोनास म्हणाला, “परंतु जर तुझी इच्छा आहे, तर कृपा करून माझे ऐक. मी शेताची किंमत तुला देईन. माझ्याकडून त्याचे पैसे घे, आणि मग मी आपल्या मयतास तेथे पुरेन.”
14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,
१४एफ्रोनाने अब्राहामाला उत्तर दिले, तो म्हणाला,
15 My lord, hearken unto me: a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that between me and thee? only bury thy dead.
१५“माझे स्वामी, कृपया माझे जरा ऐका. जमिनीचा हा एक तुकडा चारशे शेकेल रुपे किंमताचा, तो माझ्या व तुमच्यामध्ये एवढा काय आहे? तुमच्या मृताला पुरा.”
16 And Abraham understood the meaning of Ephron; and Abraham weighed out to Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current with the merchant.
१६तेव्हा अब्राहामाने एफ्रोनाचे ऐकले आणि हेथीची मुले ऐकत असता त्याने जितके रुपे सांगितले होते तितके, म्हणजे व्यापाऱ्याकडचे चलनी चारशे शेकेल रुपे एफ्रोनाला तोलून दिले.
17 And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all its borders round about, were made sure
१७एफ्रोनाचे जे शेत मम्रे शेजारी मकपेला येथे होते, ते शेत, व त्यामध्ये असलेली गुहा व त्याच्यासभोवती सीमेतील सर्व झाडे,
18 Unto Abraham for a bought possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
१८ही हेथीच्या मुलांसमक्ष व त्याच्या नगराच्या वेशीत जाणाऱ्या-येणाऱ्या सर्वांसमक्ष अब्राहामाने विकत घेतली.
19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre, which is Hebron, in the land of Canaan.
१९त्यानंतर अब्राहामाने आपली पत्नी सारा हिला कनान देशातील मम्रे म्हणजे हेब्रोन शहराच्या शेजारी मकपेलाच्या शेतातील गुहेत पुरले.
20 And the field, with the cave that is therein, was made sure unto Abraham for a possession as a burying-place by the sons of Heth.
२०ते शेत व त्यातील गुहा ही मृतांना पुरण्याची जागा म्हणून हेथीच्या मुलांकडून अब्राहामाच्या मालकीची झाली.
