Ezekiel 35
1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
La parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 Son of man, set thy face against the mountain of Se'ir, and prophecy against it,
Fils de l'homme, tourne ta face vers la montagne de Séir, et prohétise contre elle.
3 And say unto it, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I will be against thee, O mountain of Se'ir, and I will stretch out my hand over thee, and I will render thee desolate and wasted.
Dis-lui: Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, j'en veux à toi, montagne de Séir; j'étends ma main sur toi, et te réduis en solitude et en désert!
4 Thy cities will I lay in ruins, and thou thyself shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.
Je réduirai tes villes en désert, tu seras une désolation, et tu sauras que je suis l'Éternel.
5 Because thou hast had an undying hatred, and didst surrender the children of Israel to the power of the sword, at the time of their calamity, at the time of the iniquity of the end:
Parce que tu avais une inimitié éternelle, et que tu as livré à l'épée les enfants d'Israël, dans le temps de leur calamité, alors que leur iniquité était à son terme,
6 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Eternal, I will surely let thy blood flow, and blood shall pursue thee; since thou didst not hate blood-shedding, so shall blood pursue thee.
A cause de cela, je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, je te mettrai à sang, et le sang te poursuivra; parce que tu n'as point haï le sang, le sang te poursuivra!
7 Thus will I change the mountain of Se'ir into a desolate land and a waste, and I will cut off from it him that travelleth forward and backward.
Je réduirai en solitude et en désolation la montagne de Séir, et j'en retrancherai les allants et venants.
8 And I will fill his mountains with his slain: as regardeth thy hills, and thy valleys, and all thy ravines, in them shall fall those that are slain by the sword.
Je remplirai ses montagnes de blessés à mort; ceux que l'épée blesse à mort tomberont sur tes coteaux, dans tes vallées et dans tous tes ravins.
9 Into perpetual desolations will I change thee, and thy cities shall not be restored: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
Je te réduirai en solitudes éternelles; tes villes ne seront plus habitées, et vous saurez que je suis l'Éternel.
10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall indeed be mine, and we will take possession thereof; whereas the Lord was there:
Parce que tu as dit: “Les deux nations et les deux pays seront à moi, et nous nous en emparerons”, bien que l'Éternel y soit,
11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord God, I will even do according to thy anger, and according to thy envy which thou didst use out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I judge thee.
C'est pourquoi, je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, je te traiterai selon la colère et la fureur que tu as exercées dans tes inimitiés contre eux, et je me ferai connaître au milieu d'eux, quand je te jugerai.
12 And thou shalt know that I am the Lord: I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given unto us to consume them.
Sache que moi, l'Éternel, j'ai entendu les outrages que tu as proférés contre les montagnes d'Israël, en disant: Elles sont désolées, elles nous sont données comme une proie.
13 And ye boasted greatly against me with your mouth, and have multiplied against me your words: I have indeed heard them.
Et vous m'avez bravé par vos discours, et vous avez multiplié vos paroles contre moi; je l'ai entendu.
14 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.
Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Lorsque toute la terre sera dans la joie, je te réduirai en désolation.
15 As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was made desolate: so will I do unto thee; desolate shalt thou be, O mountain of Se'ir, and all Idumea—altogether; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
Puisque tu t'es réjouie de ce que l'héritage de la maison d'Israël ait été désolé, je te traiterai de même; tu seras désolée, montagne de Séir, avec l'Idumée tout entière, et l'on saura que je suis l'Éternel.
