Esther 1
1 And it came to pass in the days of Achashverosh, of the same Achashverosh who reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over a hundred and seven and twenty provinces,
Agora nos dias de Assuero (este é Assuero que reinou da Índia até a Etiópia, mais de cento e vinte e sete províncias),
2 In those days, when this king Achashverosh was sitting on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the capital,
naqueles dias, quando o rei Assuero sentou-se no trono de seu reino, que estava em Susa, o palácio,
3 That, in the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants, the army of Persia and Media, the nobles and the princes of the provinces who were near him:
no terceiro ano de seu reinado, ele fez uma festa para todos os seus príncipes e seus servos; o exército da Pérsia e da Mídia, os nobres e príncipes das províncias estando diante dele.
4 When he showed the riches and the glory of his kingdom, and the brilliance [and] the splendor of his greatness, during many days, a hundred and eighty days.
Ele mostrou as riquezas de seu glorioso reino e a honra de sua excelente majestade por muitos dias, até mesmo por cento e oitenta dias.
5 And when these days were completed, the king made unto all the people that were found in Shushan the capital, unto every one, from the great even to the small, a feast of seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace;
Quando esses dias foram cumpridos, o rei fez uma festa de sete dias para todo o povo que estava presente em Susa, o palácio, grande e pequeno, na corte do jardim do palácio do rei.
6 [Where were] white, green, and blue [hangings], fastened with cords of fine linen and purple, on rollers of silver and pillars of marble; couches of gold and silver, upon a pavement of green, and white, and yellow, and black marble.
There eram pendurados de material branco e azul, presos com cordões de linho fino e roxo a anéis de prata e pilares de mármore. Os sofás eram de ouro e prata, sobre um pavimento de mármore vermelho, branco, amarelo e preto.
7 And they gave them to drink in vessels of gold, —the vessels being diverse one from the other, —and the royal wine was in abundance, according to the ability of the king.
Eles lhes deram bebidas em vasos dourados de vários tipos, incluindo vinho real em abundância, de acordo com a generosidade do rei.
8 And the drinking was, according to the [king's] order, without compulsion; for so had the king enjoined on all the officers of his house, to do according to the pleasure of every man.
De acordo com a lei, a bebida não era obrigatória; pois assim o rei havia instruído todos os funcionários de sua casa, que deveriam fazer de acordo com o prazer de cada homem.
9 Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women, in the royal house which belonged to king Achashverosh.
Também Vashti a rainha fez um banquete para as mulheres na casa real que pertencia ao rei Ahasuerus.
10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Charbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcass, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of king Achashverosh,
No sétimo dia, quando o coração do rei estava alegre com o vinho, ele ordenou a Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha e Abagtha, Zethar e Carcass, os sete eunucos que serviram na presença do rei Assuero,
11 To bring Vashti the queen before the king [ornamented] with the royal crown, to show the people and the princes her beauty; for she was handsome in appearance.
para trazer Vashti, a rainha, diante do rei, usando a coroa real, para mostrar ao povo e aos príncipes sua beleza; pois ela era bela.
12 But queen Vashti refused to come at the word of the king brought by the hand of the chamberlains; and the king was very wroth, and his fury burnt in him.
Mas a rainha Vashti se recusou a vir sob a ordem do rei pelos eunucos. Portanto, o rei ficou muito zangado e sua raiva ardeu nele.
13 Then said the king to the wise men, who knew [the occurrences of] the times; for so [came] every affair of the king before all acquainted with law and state institutions;
Então o rei disse aos sábios, que conheciam os tempos (pois era costume do rei consultar aqueles que conheciam a lei e o julgamento;
14 And those next unto him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tharshish, Meress, Marsena, and Memuchan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who could see [at all times] the king's face, who sat in the first rank in the kingdom:
e ao seu lado estavam Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena e Memucan, os sete príncipes da Pérsia e da Mídia, que viram o rosto do rei e se sentaram em primeiro lugar no reino),
15 What should according to law be done with queen Vashti; because she had not fulfilled the order of king Achashverosh by the hand of the chamberlains?
“O que devemos fazer à rainha Vashti de acordo com a lei, porque ela não fez o lance do rei Assuero pelos eunucos?”
16 Then said Memuchan before the king and the princes, Not against the king alone hath Vashti the queen done wrong, but also against all the princes, and against all the people that are in all the provinces of king Achashverosh.
Memucan respondeu diante do rei e dos príncipes: “Vashti a rainha não fez mal somente ao rei, mas também a todos os príncipes, e a todo o povo que está em todas as províncias do rei Ahasuerus.
17 For the conduct of the queen will go abroad unto all the women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, King Achashverosh ordered Vashti the queen to be brought into his presence, but she came not.
Pois este ato da rainha se tornará conhecido de todas as mulheres, fazendo-as mostrar desprezo por seus maridos quando for relatado, 'o rei Assuero ordenou que Vashti a rainha fosse trazida à sua presença, mas ela não veio'.
18 And even this day will the ladies of Persia and Media, who have heard of the conduct of the queen, say this unto all the princes of the king; and there will arise too much contempt and quarrel.
Hoje, as princesas da Pérsia e da Mídia que ouviram falar da escritura da rainha dirão a todos os príncipes do rei. Isto causará muito desprezo e fúria.
19 If it please the king, let there go forth a royal order from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that no one transgress it, That Vashti come no more before king Achashverosh: and let the king give her royal dignity unto another that is better than she.
“Se for do agrado do rei, deixe que um mandamento real lhe seja dado, e que seja escrito entre as leis dos persas e dos medos, para que não possa ser alterado, para que Vashti nunca mais venha perante o rei Assuero; e deixe que o rei dê seus bens reais a outro que seja melhor do que ela.
20 And when the king's decree which he will make shall be published throughout all his kingdom, however great it is: all the wives will show respect to their husbands, unto every one, from the great even to the small.
Quando o decreto do rei que ele fará for publicado em todo o seu reino (pois é grande), todas as esposas darão honra a seus maridos, tanto grandes como pequenos”.
21 And the speech was pleasing in the eyes of the king and of the princes; and the king did according to the speech of Memuchan.
Este conselho agradou ao rei e aos príncipes, e o rei fez de acordo com a palavra de Memucan:
22 And he sent letters unto all the provinces of the king, unto every province according to its writing, and to every people according to its language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, however he may speak according to the language of his people.
pois ele enviou cartas para todas as províncias do rei, para cada província de acordo com sua escrita, e para cada povo em sua língua, para que cada homem governasse sua própria casa, falando na língua de seu próprio povo.
