2 Samuel 2
1 And it came to pass after this, that David asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah? And the Lord said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
౧కొంతకాలం తరువాత దావీదు “నేను యూదా పట్టణాల్లో ప్రవేశించ వచ్చా?” అని యెహోవా దగ్గర విచారణ చేశాడు. “వెళ్ళు” అని యెహోవా అతనితో చెప్పాడు. “ఏ పట్టణానికి వెళ్ళమంటావు?” అని దావీదు అడిగాడు. “హెబ్రోనుకు వెళ్ళు” అని ఆయన చెప్పాడు.
2 So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Achino'am the Yizre'elitess, and Abigayil, Nabal's wife, the Carmelite.
౨అప్పుడు దావీదు యెజ్రెయేలీయురాలు అహీనోయము, కర్మెలీయుడు నాబాలుకు భార్యగా ఉండి విధవరాలైన అబీగయీలు, అనే తన ఇద్దరు భార్యలను వెంట బెట్టుకుని అక్కడికి వెళ్ళాడు.
3 And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household; and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
౩దావీదు తన దగ్గర ఉన్న వారినందరినీ, వారి వారి కుటుంబాలనూ వెంట బెట్టుకుని వెళ్ళాడు. వీరు హెబ్రోను నగరాల్లో కాపురం పెట్టారు.
4 And then came the men of Judah, and they anointed there David as king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, The men of Yabesh-gil'ad were those that buried Saul.
౪అప్పుడు యూదా జాతి ప్రజలు అక్కడికి వచ్చి దావీదును తమ రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకం చేశారు.
5 And David thereupon sent messengers unto the men of Yabesh-gil'ad, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the Lord, that ye have done this kindness unto your Lord, unto Saul, and have buried him.
౫సౌలును యాబేష్గిలాదు ప్రజలు పాతిపెట్టారని దావీదు తెలుసుకుని వారి దగ్గరికి తన మనుషులను పంపించాడు. “మీరు మీ రాజు సౌలును పాతిపెట్టి అతని పట్ల నమ్మకత్వం కనపరిచారు కాబట్టి యెహోవా మిమ్మల్ని ఆశీర్వదిస్తాడు.
6 And now may the Lord deal with you in kindness and truth: and as for me also, I will requite you this good deed, because ye have done this thing.
౬యెహోవా మీకు తన కృపను, విశ్వాస్యతను చూపుతాడు గాక. మీరు చేసిన ఈ పనిని బట్టి నేను కూడా మీకు మేలు చేస్తాను.
7 And now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant men; for your lord Saul is dead; and also me have the house of Judah anointed as king over them.
౭మీ రాజు సౌలు చనిపోయినప్పుడు యూదా జాతి వారు నాకు రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకం చేశారు. మీరు ధైర్యం తెచ్చుకుని స్థిరంగా ఉండండి” అని కబురు పంపాడు.
8 But Abner, the son of Ner, the captain of the army of Saul, took Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Machanayim;
౮సౌలు సైన్యాధిపతి, నేరు కుమారుడు అయిన అబ్నేరు, సౌలు కుమారుడు ఇష్బోషెతును మహనయీముకు తీసుకు వెళ్ళి,
9 And made him king over Gil'ad, and over the Ashurites, and over Yizre'el, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
౯అతణ్ణి గిలాదు వారిపై, ఆషేరీయుల పై, యెజ్రెయేలు పై, ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులపై, బెన్యామీనీయులపై, ఇశ్రాయేలు వారి పై రాజుగా నియమించి అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకం చేశాడు.
10 Forty years old was Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, when he became king over Israel, and two years he reigned. But the house of Judah followed David.
౧౦నలభై ఏళ్ల వయసు గల ఇష్బోషెతు రెండు సంవత్సరాలు పరిపాలించాడు. అయితే యూదా జాతివారు దావీదు పక్షాన నిలబడ్డారు.
11 And the number of days that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
౧౧దావీదు ఏడు సంవత్సరాల ఆరు నెలలు హెబ్రోనులో ఉండి యూదా వారిని పరిపాలించాడు.
12 And there went out Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, from Machanayim to Gib'on.
౧౨అంతలో నేరు కుమారుడు అబ్నేరు, సౌలు కుమారుడు ఇష్బోషెతు సేవకులు మహనయీములో నుండి బయలుదేరి గిబియోనుకు వచ్చారు.
13 And Joab the son of Zeruyah and the servants of David also went out, and they met together by the pool of Gib'on: and they sat down, these on the one side of the pool, and the others on the other side of the pool.
౧౩అప్పుడు సెరూయా కుమారుడు యోవాబు, దావీదు సేవకులు బయలుదేరి వారిని ఎదిరించడానికి గిబియోను లోయకు వచ్చి లోయకు వీరు ఈ వైపున, వారు ఆ వైపున దిగి ఉన్నారు.
14 And Abner said to Joab, Do let the young men rise up and play before us. And Joab said, They may rise up.
౧౪అబ్నేరు “మన యువకులను ముందు ఒకరితో ఒకరు పోరాటం చేయిద్దామా?” అని యోవాబుతో అన్నాడు. యోవాబు “అలాగే చేద్దాం” అన్నాడు.
15 Then they rose up and went over by number: twelve for Benjamin, and for Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
౧౫సౌలు కుమారుడు ఇష్బోషెతుకు చెందిన బెన్యామీనీయులు పన్నెండుమంది, దావీదు సేవకుల్లో నుండి పన్నెండుమంది లేచి ఎదురెదురుగా నిలబడ్డారు.
16 And they grasped every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; and they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Chelkath-hazzurim, which is by Gib'on.
౧౬ఒక్కొక్కడు తన ఎదురుగా ఉన్నవాడి తల పట్టుకుని వాడి డొక్కలో కత్తితో పొడిచారు. అందరూ ఒకేసారి నేలపై పడిపోయారు. అందువల్ల ఆ స్థలానికి హెల్కతు హస్సూరీము అని పేరు వచ్చింది. అది గిబియోనుకు దగ్గరలో ఉంది.
17 And the battle was exceedingly fierce on that day; and Abner with the men of Israel was beaten, before the servants of David.
౧౭ఆ తరువాతి రోజు ఘోరమైన యుద్ధం జరిగింది. అబ్నేరు, ఇశ్రాయేలు వారు దావీదు సైనికుల ముందు నిలవ లేక పారిపోయారు.
18 And there were at that place three sons of Zeruyah, Joab, and Abishai, and 'Asahel: and 'Asahel was as fleet of foot as any roe in the field.
౧౮సెరూయా ముగ్గురు కొడుకులు యోవాబు, అబీషై, అశాహేలు అక్కడ ఉన్నారు. అశాహేలు అడవి లేడి లాగా వేగంగా పరిగెత్తగలడు.
19 And 'Asahel pursued after Abner; and he turned not in going to the right hand or to the left from following Abner.
౧౯అతడు కుడి వైపుకైనా, ఎడమ వైపుకైనా చూడకుండా అబ్నేరును తరుముతున్నప్పుడు,
20 And Abner turned round and said, Art thou 'Asahel? And he answered, I am.
౨౦అబ్నేరు వెనక్కి తిరిగి “నువ్వు అశాహేలువా?” అని అతణ్ణి అడిగాడు. అతడు “అవును, నేను అశాహేలునే” అన్నాడు.
21 And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay hold for thyself on one of the young men, and take thyself his armor. But 'Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
౨౧“నువ్వు కుడి వైపుకైనా, ఎడమ వైపుకైనా పరుగెత్తి ఆ యువకుల్లో ఒకడి మీదకు వెళ్లి వాడి ఆయుధాలు స్వాధీనం చేసుకో” అని అబ్నేరు అతనితో చెప్పినప్పటికీ అశాహేలు ఈ వైపుకు గానీ ఆ వైపుకు గానీ చూడకుండా అతణ్ణి తరుముతూనే ఉన్నాడు.
22 And Abner repeated again to say unto 'Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? and how should I then lift up my face to Joab thy brother?
౨౨అబ్నేరు “నన్ను తరమడం మానేసి వెనక్కి తిరిగి వెళ్ళు. నేను నిన్ను నేలకు కొట్టి చంపితే, ఆ తరువాత నీ అన్న యోవాబుకు నా ముఖమెలా చూపించగలను?” అన్నాడు.
23 But he refused to turn aside; and Abner smote him with the hinder end of the spear under the fifth rib, so that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died on the spot: and it came to pass, that all who came to the place where 'Asahel had fallen down and died remained standing still.
౨౩అందుకు అశాహేలు “నేను వెనక్కి వెళ్ళను” అన్నాడు. అప్పుడు అబ్నేరు ఈటె అంచుతో అతని కడుపులో పొడవడం వల్ల ఈటె అతనిలోకి దిగి వీపు నుండి వెనక్కి వచ్చింది. అతడు అక్కడే పడి చనిపోయాడు. అశాహేలు చనిపోయి పడిన ఉన్న స్థలానికి వచ్చిన వారంతా నిలబడి పోయారు.
24 But Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giach on the way to the wilderness of Gib'on.
౨౪యోవాబు, అబీషైలు అబ్నేరును తరుముతూ గిబియోను అడవి దారిలోని గుహ ఎదురుగా ఉన్న అమ్మా అనే కొండ దగ్గరికి వచ్చారు. అప్పుడు సూర్యుడు అస్తమించాడు.
25 And the children of Benjamin assembled themselves together behind Abner, and formed one solid body, and posted themselves on the top of a certain hill.
౨౫అబ్నేరు మీదికి ఎవరూ దాడి చేయకుండా బెన్యామీనీయులు గుంపుగా చేరి ఆ కొండ మీద నిలబడ్డారు.
26 And Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall for everlasting the sword devour? knowest thou not that it will be bitter in the end? and how long shall it be, ere thou wilt bid the people to return from pursuing their brethren?
౨౬అబ్నేరు కేక వేసి “కత్తి ఎప్పుడూ చంపుతూనే ఉండాలా? అది చివరకూ కీడుకే కారణం అవుతుందని నీకు తెలుసు గదా. మీ సోదరులను తరమడం ఆపమని నీ మనుషులకు చెప్పకుండా ఎంతకాలం ఉంటావు?” అని యోవాబుతో అన్నాడు.
27 And Joab said, As God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then already in the morning would the people have gone away every one from pursuing his brother.
౨౭అందుకు యోవాబు “దేవుని మీద ఒట్టు. నువ్వు ఈ మాట చెప్పకుండా ఉన్నట్లయితే మా మనుషులు తమ సోదరులను రేపు ఉదయం వరకూ తరముతూనే ఉండే వారు” అన్నాడు.
28 So Joab blew the cornet, and all the people remained standing still, and pursued no more after Israel, and they continued no more to fight.
౨౮అతడు బాకా ఊదగా ప్రజలంతా ఆగిపోయి ఇశ్రాయేలు వారిని తరమడం, యుద్ధం చేయడం మానివేశారు.
29 And Abner and his men walked through the plain all that night, and they passed over the Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Machanayim.
౨౯అబ్నేరు, అతని మనుషులు ఆ రాత్రి అంతా ఎడారి గుండా ప్రయాణం చేసి యొర్దాను నది దాటి బిత్రోను దారిలో మహనయీము చేరుకున్నారు.
30 And Joab returned from pursuing Abner; and he gathered all the people together; and there were missed of David's servants nineteen men and 'Asahel.
౩౦యోవాబు అబ్నేరును తరమడం మాని తిరిగి వచ్చి మనుషులను పోగు చేసి లెక్క చూడగా దావీదు సేవకుల్లో అశాహేలు గాక పందొమ్మిదిమంది తక్కువయ్యారు.
31 But the servants of David had smitten [many] of Benjamin, and of Abner's men: three hundred and sixty men died.
౩౧అయితే దావీదు సేవకులు బెన్యామీనీయుల్లో, అబ్నేరు మనుషుల్లో మూడు వందల అరవై మందిని చంపారు.
32 And they took up 'Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Beth-lechem. And Joab and his men went all that night, and the day broke on them at Hebron.
౩౨వారు అశాహేలును తీసుకువెళ్ళి బేత్లెహేములో ఉన్న అతని తండ్రి సమాధిలో పాతిపెట్టారు. తరువాత యోవాబు, అతని మనుషులు రాత్రంతా నడిచి తెల్లవారేసరికి హెబ్రోనుకు చేరుకున్నారు.
