Psalms 106
1 Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
Halleluja! Preiset den HERRN, denn er ist freundlich, ja ewiglich währt seine Gnade!
2 Who shall tell the mighty acts of the Lord? [who] shall cause all his praises to be heard?
Wer kann des HERRN Machttaten gebührend preisen und kundtun all seinen Ruhm?
3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and do righteousness at all times.
Wohl denen, die am Recht festhalten, und dem, der Gerechtigkeit übt zu jeder Zeit!
4 Remember us, O Lord, with the favor [you have] to your people: visit us with your salvation;
Gedenke meiner, o HERR, mit der Liebe zu deinem Volk, nimm dich meiner an mit deiner Hilfe,
5 that we may behold the good of your elect, that we may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that we may glory with your inheritance.
daß ich schau’ meine Lust am Glück deiner Erwählten, an der Freude deines Volkes Anteil habe und glücklich mich preise mit deinem Eigentumsvolke!
6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have transgressed, we have done unrighteously.
Wir haben gesündigt gleich unsern Vätern, wir haben gefehlt und gottlos gehandelt.
7 Our fathers in Egypt understood not your wonders, and remembered not the multitude of your mercy; but provoked [him] as they went up by the Red Sea.
Unsre Väter in Ägypten achteten nicht auf deine Wunder, gedachten nicht der Fülle deiner Gnadenerweise, waren widerspenstig gegen den Höchsten schon am Schilfmeer;
8 Yet he saved them for his name's sake, that he might cause his mighty power to be known.
dennoch half er ihnen um seines Namens willen, um seine Heldenkraft zu erweisen.
9 And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: so he led them through the deep as through the wilderness.
Er schalt das Schilfmeer: da ward es trocken, und er ließ sie ziehn durch die Fluten wie über die Trift.
10 And he saved them out of the hand of them that hated [them], and redeemed them out of the hand of the enemy.
So rettete er sie aus der Hand des Verfolgers und erlöste sie aus der Gewalt des Feindes:
11 The water covered those that oppressed them: there was not one of them left.
die Fluten bedeckten ihre Bedränger, nicht einer von ihnen blieb übrig.
12 Then they believed his words, and celebrated his praise.
Da glaubten sie an seine Worte, besangen seinen Ruhm.
13 They made haste, they forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel.
Doch schnell vergaßen sie seine Taten und warteten seinen Ratschluß nicht ab;
14 And they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the dry [land].
sie fröhnten ihrem Gelüst in der Wüste und versuchten Gott in der Einöde:
15 And he gave them their request, and sent fullness into their souls.
da gewährte er ihnen ihr Verlangen, sandte aber die Seuche gegen ihr Leben.
16 They provoked Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the holy one of the Lord.
Dann wurden sie eifersüchtig auf Mose im Lager, auf Aaron, den Geweihten des HERRN:
17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and closed upon the congregation of Abiron.
da tat die Erde sich auf und verschlang Dathan und begrub die ganze Rotte Abirams,
18 And a fire was kindled in their congregation, and a flame burnt up the sinners.
Feuer verbrannte ihre Rotte, Flammen verzehrten die Frevler.
19 And they made a calf in Choreb, and worshipped the graven image,
Sie machten sich ein Kalb am Horeb und warfen vor einem Gußbild sich nieder
20 and they changed their glory into the similitude of a calf that feeds on grass.
und vertauschten so die Herrlichkeit ihres Gottes mit dem Bildnis eines Stieres, der Gras frißt.
21 They forgot God that saved them, who had wrought great deeds in Egypt;
Sie hatten Gott, ihren Retter, vergessen, der große Dinge getan in Ägypten,
22 wondrous [works] in the land of Cham, and terrible things at the Red Sea.
Wunderzeichen im Lande Hams, furchtbare Taten am Schilfmeer.
23 So he said that he would have destroyed them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn [him] away from the fierceness of his anger, so that he should not destroy them.
Da gedachte er sie zu vertilgen, wenn nicht Mose, sein Auserwählter, mit Fürbitte vor ihn hingetreten wäre, um seinen Grimm vom Vernichten abzuwenden.
24 Moreover they set at nothing the desirable land, and believed not his word.
Sodann verschmähten sie das herrliche Land und schenkten seiner Verheißung keinen Glauben,
25 And they murmured in their tents: they listened not to the voice of the Lord.
sondern murrten in ihren Zelten, gehorchten nicht der Weisung des HERRN.
26 So he lifted up his hand against them, to cast them down in the wilderness;
Da erhob er seine Hand gegen sie zum Schwur, sie in der Wüste niederzuschlagen,
27 and to cast down their seed among the nations, and to scatter them in the countries.
ihre Nachkommen unter die Heiden niederzuwerfen und sie rings zu zerstreuen in die Länder.
28 They were joined also to Beelphegor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. And they provoked him with their devices;
Dann hängten sie sich an den Baal-Peor und aßen Opferfleisch der toten (Götzen)
29 and destruction, was multiplied among them.
und erbitterten ihn durch ihr ganzes Tun. Als nun ein Sterben unter ihnen ausbrach,
30 Then Phinees stood up, and made atonement: and the plague ceased.
trat Pinehas auf und hielt Gericht: da wurde dem Sterben Einhalt getan.
31 And it was counted to him for righteousness, to all generations for ever.
Das wurde ihm angerechnet zur Gerechtigkeit von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht in Ewigkeit. –
32 They provoked him also at the water of Strife, and Moses was hurt for their sakes;
Dann erregten sie Gottes Zorn am Haderwasser, und Mose erging es übel um ihretwillen;
33 for they provoked his spirit, and he spoke [unadvisedly] with his lips.
denn weil sie dem Geiste Gottes widerstrebten, hatte er unbedacht mit seinen Lippen geredet.
34 They destroyed not the nations which the Lord told them [to destroy];
Sie vertilgten auch die Völker nicht, von denen der HERR es ihnen geboten,
35 but were mingled with the heathen, and learned their works.
sondern traten mit den Heiden in Verkehr und gewöhnten sich an deren (böses) Tun
36 And they served their graven images; and it became an offense to them.
und dienten ihren Götzen: die wurden ihnen zum Fallstrick.
37 And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to devils,
Ja, sie opferten ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter den bösen Geistern
38 and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Chanaan; and the land was defiled with blood.
und vergossen unschuldig Blut [das Blut ihrer Söhne und Töchter, die sie den Götzen Kanaans opferten]: so wurde das Land durch Blutvergießen entweiht.
39 and was polluted with their works; and they went a whoring with their own devices.
Sie wurden unrein durch ihr Verhalten und verübten Abfall durch ihr Tun. –
40 So the Lord was very angry with his people, and he abhorred his inheritance.
Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN gegen sein Volk, und Abscheu fühlte er gegen sein Erbe;
41 And he delivered them into the hands of [their] enemies; and they that hated them ruled over them.
er ließ sie in die Hand der Heiden fallen, so daß ihre Hasser über sie herrschten;
42 Ands their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought down under their hands.
ihre Feinde bedrängten sie hart, so daß sie sich beugen mußten unter deren Hand.
43 Many a time he delivered them; but they provoked him by their counsel, and they were brought low by their iniquities.
Oftmals zwar befreite er sie, doch sie blieben widerspenstig gegen seinen Ratschluß und sanken immer tiefer durch ihre Schuld.
44 You the Lord looked upon their affliction, when he heard their petition.
Er aber nahm sich ihrer Drangsal an, sooft er ihr Wehgeschrei hörte,
45 And he remembered his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercy.
und gedachte seines Bundes ihnen zugut, fühlte Mitleid nach seiner großen Güte
46 And he caused them to be pitied in the sight of all who carried them captive.
und ließ sie Erbarmen finden bei allen, die sie gefangen hielten.
47 Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, that we may give thanks to your holy name, that we may glory in your praise.
O hilf uns, HERR, unser Gott, und bring uns wieder zusammen aus den Heiden, damit wir deinem heiligen Namen danken, uns glücklich preisen, deinen Ruhm zu künden!
48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting and to everlasting; and all the people shall say, Amen, Amen.
Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Israels, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Und alles Volk sage »Amen!« Halleluja!
