Lamentations 3
1 ALEPH. I am the man that sees poverty, through the rod of his wrath upon me.
Jag är en man som har prövat elände under hans vredes ris.
2 He has taken me, and led me away into darkness, and not [into] light.
Mig har han fört och låtit vandra genom mörker och genom ljus.
3 Nay, against me has he turned his hand all the day.
Ja, mot mig vänder han sin hand beständigt, åter och åter.
4 He has made old my flesh and my skin; he has broken my bones.
Han har uppfrätt mitt kött och min hud, han har krossat benen i mig.
5 BETH. He has built against me, and compassed my head, and brought travail [upon me].
Han har kringskansat och omvärvt mig med gift och vedermöda.
6 He has set me in dark places, as them that have long been dead.
I mörker har han lagt mig såsom de längesedan döda.
7 He has builded against me, and I can’t come forth: he has made my brazen [chain] heavy.
Han har kringmurat mig, så att jag ej kommer ut, han har lagt på mig tunga fjättrar.
8 GIMEL. Yes, [though] I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayer.
Huru jag än klagar och ropar, tillstoppar han öronen för min bön.
9 DALETH. He has built up my ways, he has hedged my paths;
Med huggen sten har han murat för mina vägar, mina stigar har han gjort svåra.
10 he has troubled me, [as] a she-bear lying in wait: he is to me [as] a lion in secret places.
En lurande björn är han mot mig, ett lejon som ligger i försåt.
11 He pursued [me] after I departed, and brought me to a stand: he has utterly ruined me.
Han förde mig på villoväg och rev mig i stycken, förödelse lät han gå över mig.
12 HE. He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
Han spände sin båge och satte mig upp till ett mål för sin pil.
13 He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
Ja, pilar från sitt koger sände han in i mina njurar.
14 I became a laughing stock to all my people; and their song all the day.
Jag blev ett åtlöje för hela mitt folk en visa för dem hela dagen.
15 VAU. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me with gall.
Han mättade mig med bittra örter, han gav mig malört att dricka.
16 And he has dashed out my teeth with gravel, he has fed me with ashes.
Han lät mina tänder bita sönder sig på stenar, han höljde mig med aska.
17 He has also removed my soul from peace: I forgot prosperity.
Ja, du förkastade min själ och tog bort min frid; jag visste ej mer vad lycka var.
18 Therefore my success has perished, and my hope from the Lord.
Jag sade: "Det är ute med min livskraft och med mitt hopp till HERREN."
19 ZAIN. I remembered by reason of my poverty, and because of persecution my bitterness and gall shall be remembered;
Tänk på mitt elände och min husvillhet, på malörten och giftet!
20 and my soul shall meditate with me.
Stadigt tänker min själ därpå och är bedrövad i mig.
21 This will I lay up in my heart, therefore I will endure.
Men detta vill jag besinna, och därför skall jag hoppas:
22 HETH. [It is] the mercies of the Lord, that he has not failed me, because his compassions are not exhausted. Pity [us], O Lord, early [every] month: for we are not brought to an end, because his compassions are not exhausted.
HERRENS nåd är det att det icke är ute med oss, ty det är icke slut med hans barmhärtighet.
23 [They are] new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
Den är var morgon ny, ja, stor är din trofasthet.
24 The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I wait for him.
HERREN är min del, det säger min själ mig; därför vill jag hoppas på honom.
25 TETH. The Lord is good to them that wait for him: the soul which shall seek him
HERREN är god mot dem som förbida honom, mot den själ som söker honom.
26 [is] good, and shall wait for, and quietly expect salvation of the Lord.
Det är gott att hoppas i stillhet på hjälp från HERREN.
27 TETH. [It is] good for a man when he bears a yoke in his youth.
Det är gott för en man att han får bära ett ok i sin ungdom.
28 He will sit alone, and be silent, because he has borne [it] upon him.
Må han sitta ensam och tyst, när ett sådant pålägges honom.
Må han sänka sin mun i stoftet; kanhända finnes ännu hopp.
30 JOD. He will give [his] cheek to him that smites him: he will be filled full with reproaches.
Må han vända kinden till åt den som slår honom och låta mätta sig med smälek.
31 For the Lord will not reject for ever.
Ty Herren förkastar icke för evig tid;
32 CHAPH. For he that has brought down will pity, and [that] according to the abundance of his mercy.
utan om han har bedrövat, så förbarmar han sig igen, efter sin stora nåd.
33 He has not answered [in anger] from his heart, though he has brought low the children of a man.
Ty icke av villigt hjärta plågar han människors barn och vållar dem bedrövelse.
34 LAMED. To bring down under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
Att man krossar under sina fötter alla fångar i landet,
35 to turn aside the judgment of a man before the face of the Most High,
att man vränger en mans rätt inför den Högstes ansikte,
36 to condemn a man [unjustly] in his judgment, the Lord has not given commandment.
att man gör orätt mot en människa i någon hennes sak, skulle Herren icke se det?
37 Who has thus spoken, and it has come to pass? the Lord has not commanded it.
Vem sade, och det vart, om det ej var Herren som bjöd?
38 Out of the mouth of the Most High there shall not come forth evil and good.
Kommer icke från den Högstes mun både ont och gott?
39 MEM. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin?
Varför knorrar då en människa här i livet, varför en man, om han drabbas av sin synd?
40 NUN. Our way has been searched out and examined, and we will turn to the Lord.
Låtom oss rannsaka våra vägar och pröva dem och omvända oss till HERREN.
41 Let us lift up our hearts with [our] hand to the lofty One in heaven.
Låtom oss upplyfta våra hjärtan, såväl som våra händer, till Gud i himmelen.
42 We have sinned, we have transgressed; and you have not pardoned.
Vi hava varit avfälliga och gensträviga, och du har icke förlåtit det.
43 SAMECH. You has visited [us] in wrath, and driven us away: you has slain, you has not pitied.
Du har höljt dig i vrede och förföljt oss, du har dräpt utan förskoning.
44 You have veiled yourself with a cloud because of prayer, that I might be blind,
Du har höljt dig i moln, så att ingen bön har nått fram.
45 and be cast off. AIN. You have set us [alone] in the midst of the nations.
Ja, orena och föraktade låter du oss stå mitt ibland folken.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
Alla våra fiender spärra upp munnen emot oss.
47 Fear and wrath are come upon us, suspense and destruction.
Faror och fallgropar möta oss fördärv och skada.
48 Mine eye shall pour down torrents of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Vattenbäckar rinna ned från mitt öga för dottern mitt folks skada.
49 PHE. Mine eye is drowned [with tears], and I will not be silent, so that there shall be no rest,
Mitt öga flödar utan uppehåll och förtröttas icke,
50 until the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
till dess att HERREN blickar ned från himmelen och ser härtill.
51 Mine eye shall prey upon my soul, because of all the daughters of the city.
Mitt öga vållar mig plåga för alla min stads döttrars skull.
52 TSADE. The fowlers chased me as a sparrow, all mine enemies destroyed my life in a pit without cause,
Jag bliver ivrigt jagad såsom en fågel av dem som utan sak äro mina fiender.
53 and laid a stone upon me.
De vilja förgöra mitt liv här i djupet, de kasta stenar på mig.
54 Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off.
Vatten strömma över mitt huvud, jag säger: "Det är ute med mig."
55 KOPH. I called upon your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon.
Jag åkallar ditt namn, o HERRE, har underst i djupet.
56 You heard my voice: close not your ears to my supplication.
Du hör min röst; tillslut icke ditt öra, bered mig lindring, då jag nu ropar.
57 You drew near to my help: in the day wherein I called upon you you said to me, Fear not.
Ja, du nalkas mig, när jag åkallar dig; du säger: "Frukta icke."
58 RECHS. O Lord, you has pleaded the causes of my soul; you has redeemed my life.
Du utför, Herre, min själs sak, du förlossar mitt liv.
59 You have seen, O Lord, my troubles: you have judged my cause.
Du ser, HERRE, den orätt mig vederfares; skaffa mig rätt.
60 You have seen all their vengeance, [you have looked] on all their devices against me.
Du ser all deras hämndgirighet, alla deras anslag mot mig.
61 CHSEN. You have heard their reproach [and] all their devices against me;
Du hör deras smädelser, HERRE, alla deras anslag mot mig.
62 the lips of them that rose up against me, and their plots against me all the day;
Vad mina motståndare tala och tänka ut är beständigt riktat mot mig.
63 their sitting down and their rising up: look you upon their eyes.
Akta på huru de hava mig till sin visa, evad de sitta eller stå upp.
64 You will render them a recompense, O Lord, according to the works of their hands.
Du skall giva dem vedergällning, HERRE, efter deras händers verk.
65 THAU. You will give them [as] a covering, the grief of my heart.
Du skall lägga ett täckelse över deras hjärtan; din förbannelse skall komma över dem.
66 You will persecute them in anger, and will consume them from under the heaven, O Lord.
Du skall förfölja dem i vrede och förgöra dem, så att de ej bestå under HERRENS himmel.
