Kings I 12

1 And Samuel said to all Israel, Behold, I have listened to your voice in all things that you have said to me, and I have set a king over you.

Y dijo Samuel a todo Israel: He aquí, yo he oído vuestra voz en todas las cosas que me habéis dicho, y os he puesto rey.

2 And now, behold, the king goes before you; and I am grown old and shall rest; and, behold, my sons [are] among you; and, behold, I have gone about before you from my youth to this day.

Ahora, pues, he aquí vuestro rey va delante de vosotros. Porque yo ya soy viejo y cano; mas mis hijos están con vosotros, y yo he andado delante de vosotros desde mi mocedad hasta este día.

3 Behold, [here am] I, answer against me before the Lord and before his anointed: whose calf have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom of you have I oppressed? or from whose hand have I taken a bribe, even [to] a sandal? bear witness against me, and I will make restitution to you.

Aquí estoy, contestád contra mí delante de Jehová, y delante de su ungido, si he tomado el buey de alguno, o si he tomado el asno de alguno, o si he calumniado a alguno, o si he injuriado a alguno, o si he tomado cohecho de alguno por el cual haya cubierto mis ojos: y satisfaceros he.

4 And they said to Samuel, You have not injured us, and you have not oppressed us; and you have not afflicted us, and you have not taken anything from any one's hand.

Entonces ellos dijeron: Nunca nos has calumniado, ni injuriado, ni has tomado algo de mano de ningún hombre.

5 And Samuel said to the people, The Lord [is] witness among you, and his anointed [is] witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand: and they said, [He is] witness.

Y él les dijo: Jehová es testigo contra vosotros, y su ungido también es testigo en este día, que no habéis hallado tras mí cosa ninguna. Y ellos respondieron: Así es.

6 And Samuel spoke to the people, saying, The Lord who appointed Moses and Aaron [is] witness, who brought our fathers up out of Egypt.

Entonces Samuel dijo al pueblo: Jehová, que hizo a Moisés y a Aarón, y que sacó a vuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto.

7 And now stand still, and I will judge you before the Lord; and I will relate to you all the righteousness of the Lord, the things which he has wrought among you and your fathers.

Ahora pues estád, y yo os pondré demanda delante de Jehová, de todas las justicias de Jehová que ha hecho con vosotros, y con vuestros padres.

8 When Jacob and his sons went into Egypt, and Egypt humbled them, then our fathers cried to the Lord, and the Lord sent Moses and Aaron; and they brought our fathers out of Egypt, and he made them to dwell in this place.

Como Jacob hubo entrado en Egipto, y que vuestros padres clamaron a Jehová, Jehová envió a Moisés, y a Aarón, los cuales sacaron a vuestros padres de Egipto, y los hicieron habitar en este lugar.

9 And they forgot the Lord their God, and he sold them into the hands of Sisara captain of the host of Jabis king of Asor, and into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the king of Moab; and he fought with them.

Y olvidaron a Jehová su Dios, y él los vendió en la mano de Sísera capitán del ejército de Asor, y en la mano de los Filisteos, y en la mano del rey de Moab, los cuales les hicieron guerra.

10 And they cried to the Lord, and said, We have sinned, for we have forsaken the Lord, and have served Baalim and the groves: and now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you.

Y ellos clamaron a Jehová, y dijeron: Pecamos, porque hemos dejado a Jehová, y habemos servido a los Baales, y a Astarot: líbranos pues ahora de la mano de nuestros enemigos, y nosotros te serviremos.

11 And he sent Jerobaal, and Barac, and Jephthae, and Samuel, and rescued us out of the hand of our enemies round about, and you lived in security.

Entonces Jehová envió a Jeru-baal, y a Badán, y a Jefté, y a Samuel, y os libró de mano de vuestros enemigos al derredor; y habitasteis seguros.

12 And you saw that Naas king of the children of Ammon came against you, and you said, Nay, none but a king shall reign over us; whereas the Lord our God [is] our king.

Y como visteis que Naas rey de los hijos de Ammón venía contra vosotros, me dijisteis: No, sino rey reinará sobre nosotros; siendo vuestro rey Jehová vuestro Dios.

13 And now behold the king whom you have chosen; and behold, the Lord has set a king over you.

Ahora, pues, veis aquí vuestro rey, que elegisteis, que pedisteis; veis aquí que Jehová ha puesto sobre vosotros rey.

14 If you should fear the Lord, and serve him, and listen to his voice, and not resist the mouth of the Lord, and you and your king that reigns over you should follow the Lord, [well].

Pues si temiereis a Jehová, y le serviereis, y oyereis su voz, y no fuereis rebeldes a la palabra de Jehová, así vosotros como el rey que reina sobre vosotros, seréis tras Jehová vuestro Dios.

15 But if you should not listen to the voice of the Lord, and you should resist the mouth of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be upon you and upon your king.

Mas si no oyereis la voz de Jehová, y si fuereis rebeldes a la palabra de Jehová, la mano de Jehová será contra vosotros como contra vuestros padres.

16 And now stand still, and see this great thing, which the Lord will do before your eyes.

Y también ahora estád, y mirád esta gran cosa, que Jehová hará delante de vuestros ojos.

17 [Is it] not wheat harvest today? I will call upon the Lord, and he shall send thunder and rain; and know you and see, that your wickedness [is] great which you have wrought before the Lord, having asked for yourselves a king.

¿No es ahora la siega de los trigos? Yo clamaré a Jehová, y él dará truenos y aguas, para que conozcáis y veais, que es grande vuestra maldad, que habéis hecho en los ojos de Jehová, pidiéndoos rey.

18 And Samuel called upon the Lord, and the Lord sent thunders and rain in that day; and all the people feared greatly the Lord and Samuel.

Y Samuel clamó a Jehová, y Jehová dio truenos y aguas en aquel día: y todo el pueblo temió en gran manera a Jehová y a Samuel.

19 And all the people said to Samuel, Pray for your servants to the Lord your God, and let us not die; for we have added to all our sins this iniquity, in asking for us a king.

Y dijo todo el pueblo a Samuel: Ruega por tus siervos a Jehová tu Dios, que no muramos: porque a todos nuestros pecados hemos añadido este mal, de pedir rey para nosotros.

20 And Samuel said to the people, Fear not: you have [indeed] wrought all this iniquity; only turn not from following the Lord, and serve the Lord with all your heart.

Y Samuel respondió al pueblo: No temáis. Vosotros habéis cometido todo este mal; mas con todo eso no os apartéis de en pos de Jehová, sino servíd a Jehová con todo vuestro corazón.

21 And turn not aside after the [gods] that are nothing, who will do nothing, and will not deliver [you], because they are nothing.

No os apartéis en pos de las vanidades, que no aprovechan, ni libran; porque son vanidades.

22 For the Lord will not cast off his people for his great name's sake, because the Lord graciously took you to himself for a people.

Que Jehová no desamparará a su pueblo por su grande nombre; porque Jehová ha querido haceros pueblo suyo.

23 And far be it from me to sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will serve the Lord, and show you the good and the right way.

Y lejos vaya también de mí, que peque contra Jehová, cesando de rogar por vosotros; antes os enseñaré por buen camino y derecho:

24 Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth and with all your heart, for you see what great things he has wrought with you.

Solamente teméd a Jehová, y servídle de verdad con todo vuestro corazón: porque considerád cuán grandes cosas ha hecho con vosotros.

25 But if you continue to do evil, then shall you and your king be consumed.

Mas si perseverareis en hacer mal, vosotros y vuestro rey pereceréis.
