1 Samuel 3
1 And the child Samuel ministered unto Yhwh before Eli. And the word of Yhwh was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
੧ਉਹ ਬਾਲਕ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਏਲੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਰਲੱਭ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਘੱਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
੨ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਦ ਏਲੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਥਾਂ ਲੰਮਾ ਪਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਧੁੰਦਲੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਵੇਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ।
3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of Yhwh, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
੩ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਦੀਵਾ, ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਹੈਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਅਜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਲੰਮਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
4 That Yhwh called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
੪ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹਾਂ,
5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
੫ਅਤੇ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਏਲੀ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ। ਵਾਪਿਸ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਜਾ। ਸੋ ਉਹ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ।
6 And Yhwh called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
੬ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਏਲੀ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ। ਵਾਪਿਸ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਜਾ।
7 Now Samuel did not yet know Yhwh, neither was the word of Yhwh yet revealed unto him.
੭ਪਰ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਅਜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
8 And Yhwh called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that Yhwh had called the child.
੮ਫੇਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੀਜੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਏਲੀ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਤਦ ਏਲੀ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੈ।
9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Yhwh; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
੯ਤਦ ਏਲੀ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜਾ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੀ, ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਬੋਲ, ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੋ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਥਾਂ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ।
10 And Yhwh came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
੧੦ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੱਦਿਆ, “ਸਮੂਏਲ, ਸਮੂਏਲ।” ਤਦ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਬੋਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
11 And Yhwh said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.
੧੧ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਬਣਗੇ,
12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.
੧੨ਸੋ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਮੈਂ ਏਲੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਦ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਤ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਆਵਾਂਗਾ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.
੧੩ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਵੀ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਸਦੀਪਕ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਦਲਾ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕਿਆ।
14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.
੧੪ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਏਲੀ ਦੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਧੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਏਲੀ ਦੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ਜਾਂ ਭੇਟ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਤੱਕ ਨਾ ਮਿਟੇ।
15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Yhwh. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.
੧੫ਸਮੂਏਲ ਸਵੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਫੇਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਏਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਣ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.
੧੬ਤਦ ਏਲੀ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਮੂਏਲ! ਉਹ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹਾਂ।
17 And he said, What is the thing that the Lord hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.
੧੭ਤਦ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖੀ ਹੈ? ਮੈਥੋਂ ਨਾ ਲੁਕਾਵੀਂ। ਜੇ ਕਦੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਲੁਕਾਵੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕਰੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਕਰੇ!
18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is Yhwh: let him do what seemeth him good.
੧੮ਤਦ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾ ਬਚਨ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ। ਉਹ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਚਾਹੇ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ।
19 And Samuel grew, And Yhwh was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
੧੯ਸਮੂਏਲ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਆਖੀ ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਨਾ ਜਾਣ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beer–sheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of Yhwh.
੨੦ਅਤੇ ਦਾਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਏਰਸ਼ਬਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੱਕ ਸਾਰਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਜਾਣ ਗਿਆ ਜੋ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਨਬੀ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
21 And Yhwh appeared again in Shiloh: for Yhwh revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of Yhwh.
੨੧ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸ਼ੀਲੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੇਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਇਆ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੀਲੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
