< Jeremiah 16 >

1 The word of the LORD came also to me, saying,
Ko e folofola ʻa Sihova ʻaia naʻe hoko kiate au, ʻo pehē,
2 You shall not take you a wife, neither shall you have sons or daughters in this place.
“ʻOua naʻa ke toʻo kiate koe ha husepāniti, pea ʻe ʻikai te ke maʻu ʻae ngaahi foha mo e ngaahi ʻofefine ʻi he potu ni.
3 For thus says the LORD concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bore them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land;
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ki he ngaahi foha pea mo e ngaahi ʻofefine ʻaia ʻoku fāʻeleʻi ʻi he potu ni, pea ki heʻenau ngaahi faʻē ʻaia naʻe fāʻeleʻi ʻakinautolu, pea ki heʻenau ngaahi tamai ʻaia naʻe fakatupu ʻakinautolu ʻi he fonua ni;
4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung on the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcasses shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
Te nau mate ʻi he ngaahi mate kovi; pea ʻe ʻikai ha tangi koeʻuhi ko kinautolu; pea ʻe ʻikai tanu ʻakinautolu; ka te nau hangē ko e kinohaʻa ʻi he funga ʻoe fonua: pea ʻe fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻe he heletā, mo e honge: pea ʻe kai honau ʻangaʻanga ʻe he fanga manupuna ʻoe ʻatā, pea mo e fanga manu ʻoe fonua.
5 For thus says the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, said the LORD, even loving kindness and mercies.
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻoua naʻa ke hū ki he fale ʻoe mamahi, pea ʻoua naʻa ʻalu ke tangi mo fakafiemālieʻi ʻakinautolu: he ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, kuo u toʻo ʻeku fiemālie mei he kakai ni, ʻio, ko e angalelei mo e ʻaloʻofa.
6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:
‌ʻE mate fakatouʻosi ʻi he fonua ni ʻae lalahi pea mo e iiki: pea ʻe ʻikai tanu ʻakinautolu, pea ʻe ʻikai tangi ʻae kakai, pe fai ʻae foa, pe ko e tekefua koeʻuhi ko kinautolu:
7 Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.
Pea ʻe ʻikai maumauʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe he kakai, koeʻuhi ko ʻenau mamahi, ke fakafiemālie ʻakinautolu koeʻuhi ko e mate; pea ʻe ʻikai foaki kiate kinautolu ʻae ipu ʻoe fiemālie ke inu, koeʻuhi ko ha tamai pe ha faʻē.
8 You shall not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.
‌ʻOua foki naʻa ke ʻalu ki he fale ʻoe kātoanga, ke nofo mo kinautolu ke kai mo inu.
9 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; Vakai, te u pule ke ʻosi ʻi he potu ni ʻi homou ʻao, pea ʻi homou ngaahi ʻaho, ʻae leʻo ʻoe fiefia, pea mo e leʻo ʻoe nekeneka, pea mo e leʻo ʻoe tangata taʻane, pea mo e leʻo ʻoe taʻahine.”
10 And it shall come to pass, when you shall show this people all these words, and they shall say to you, Why has the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?
Pea ke hoko ʻo pehē, “ʻOka ke ka fakaʻilo ki he kakai ni ʻae ngaahi lea ni kotoa pē, te nau pehē kiate koe, ‘Ko e hā kuo folofolaʻaki ʻe Sihova kiate kimautolu ʻae kovi lahi ni kotoa pē? He ko e hā ʻemau hia? Pea ko e hā ʻemau angahala ʻaia kuo mau fai kia Sihova ko homau ʻOtua?’
11 Then shall you say to them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, says the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;
Pea te ke toki lea kiate kinautolu, ‘ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, koeʻuhi kuo liʻaki au ʻe hoʻomou ngaahi tamai, pea kuo nau muimui ki he ngaahi ʻotua kehe, pea tauhi ʻakinautolu, pea kuo lotu kiate kinautolu, pea kuo nau liʻaki au, pea ʻoku ʻikai fai ki heʻeku fono;
12 And you have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, you walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not listen to me:
Pea kuo mou fai kovi lahi hake ʻakimoutolu ʻi hoʻomou ngaahi tamai; pea vakai, ʻoku mou taki taha muimui ki he holi ʻa hono loto kovi, ke ʻoua naʻa nau fanongo kiate au:
13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that you know not, neither you nor your fathers; and there shall you serve other gods day and night; where I will not show you favor.
Ko ia te u kapusi ʻakimoutolu ʻi he fonua ni, ki he fonua ʻoku ʻikai te mou ʻilo, ko kimoutolu, pe ko hoʻomou ngaahi tamai; pea te mou tauhi ʻi ai ʻae ngaahi ʻotua kehe ʻi he ʻaho mo e pō; pea ʻe ʻikai te u ʻofa kiate kimoutolu ʻi ai.’”
14 Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD lives, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Ko ia, vakai, ʻoku haʻu ʻae ngaahi ʻaho, ʻaia ʻe ʻikai toe pehē ai, ʻOku moʻui ʻa Sihova, ʻaia naʻe ʻomi ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite;
15 But, The LORD lives, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands where he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.
Ka, ʻOku moʻui ʻa Sihova, ʻaia naʻe ʻomi ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli mei he fonua tokelau, pea mei he ngaahi fonua kotoa pē naʻa ne kapusi ʻakinautolu ki ai: pea te u toe ʻomi ʻakinautolu ki honau fonua ʻaia naʻaku foaki ki heʻenau ngaahi tamai.”
16 Behold, I will send for many fishers, says the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Vakai, te u fekau ke ʻomi ʻae kau toutai tokolahi, pea te nau toutai ʻakinautolu; pea hili ia te u fekau ki he kau tuli manu tokolahi, pea te nau tuli ʻakinautolu mei he moʻunga kotoa pē, pea mei he tafungofunga kotoa pē, pea mei he ngaahi ʻanaʻi maka.
17 For my eyes are on all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from my eyes.
He ʻoku ou fofonga ki honau hala kotoa pē: pea ʻoku ʻikai te nau puli ʻi hoku ʻao, pea ʻoku ʻikai fakafufū ʻenau angahala mei hoku fofonga.
18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled my inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable things.
Pea te u tomuʻa totongi ke liunga ua ki heʻenau hia pea mo ʻenau angahala; koeʻuhi kuo nau fakakoviʻi hoku fonua, pea kuo nau fakapito ʻaki hoku tofiʻa ʻae ngaahi ʻangaʻanga ʻo ʻenau ngaahi meʻa kovi mo fakalielia.”
19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come to you from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.
‌ʻE Sihova, ko hoku mālohi, mo ʻeku kolo, pea mo hoku hūfanga ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe mamahi, ʻe haʻu kiate koe ʻae kakai Senitaile mei he ngaahi ngataʻanga ʻo māmani, pea te nau pehē, “Ko e moʻoni naʻe maʻu ʻi he ʻemau ngaahi tamai ʻae ngaahi loi, mo e meʻa vaʻinga, pea mo e ngaahi meʻa taʻeʻaonga.
20 Shall a man make gods to himself, and they are no gods?
‌ʻE ngaohi ʻe he kau tangata ʻae ngaahi ʻotua moʻonautolu, kae ʻosi ʻoku ʻikai ko e ngaahi ʻotua ʻakinautolu?”
21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know my hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.
Ko ia, vakai, te u pule ni kiate kinautolu ke nau ʻilo hoku nima, mo hoku mālohi; pea te nau ʻilo ko hoku huafa, Ko Sihova.
