< Psalms 123 >

1 A Song of Ascents. Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes, O Thou that art enthroned in the heavens.
A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. I look up to you, the one who rules from heaven.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants unto the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes look unto the LORD our God, until He be gracious unto us.
Just as servants look to their master, or a maid looks to her mistress, so we keep our eyes on you, Lord our God, waiting for you to be merciful to us.
3 Be gracious unto us, O LORD, be gracious unto us; for we are full sated with contempt.
Please have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy. We've had enough of people's contempt.
4 Our soul is full sated with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud oppressors.
We've had more than enough of the scorn of the proud, and the contempt of the arrogant.
