Isaiah 16
1 Send ye the lambs for the ruler of the land from the crags that are toward the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
Mandate l'agnello di colui che domina nel paese, da Sela, [che è] inverso il deserto, al monte della figliuola di Sion.
2 For it shall be that, as wandering birds, as a scattered nest, so shall the daughters of Moab be at the fords of Arnon.
Ed egli avverrà, che le figliuole di Moab saranno a' guadi dell'Arnon, come un uccello ramingo, come una nidiata scacciata.
3 'Give counsel, execute justice; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; betray not the fugitive.
Prendi un consiglio, [o Moab], fa' un decreto; fa' che la tua ombra, in pien mezzodì, sia come la notte; nascondi quelli che sono scacciati, non palesare i fuggitivi.
4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee; as for Moab, be thou a covert to him from the face of the spoiler.' For the extortion is at an end, spoiling ceaseth, they that trampled down are consumed out of the land;
Que' del mio popolo che sono scacciati, dimorino appresso di te; o Moab, sii loro un nascondimento dal guastatore; perciocchè colui che usava storsioni verrà meno, e il guastamento finirà, [e] coloro che calpestavano [gli altri] saran consumati d'in su la terra.
5 And a throne is established through mercy, and there sitteth thereon in truth, in the tent of David, one that judgeth, and seeketh justice, and is ready in righteousness.
E il trono sarà stabilito in benignità; e sopra quello sederà stabilmente, nel tabernacolo di Davide, uno che giudicherà, e ricercherà la ragione, e sarà pronto a far giustizia.
6 We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud; even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his arrogancy, his ill-founded boastings.
Noi abbiamo intesa la superbia di Moab, grandemente superbo; il suo orgoglio, e la sua alterezza, e la sua indegnazione; le sue menzogne non [saranno] cosa ferma.
7 Therefore shall Moab wail for Moab, every one shall wail; for the sweet cakes of Kir-hareseth shall ye mourn, sorely stricken.
Perciò, l'un Moabita urlerà all'altro; tutti quanti urleranno; voi gemerete per li fondamenti di Chir-hareset, essendo voi stessi feriti.
8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah, whose choice plants did overcome the lords of nations; they reached even unto Jazer, they wandered into the wilderness; her branches were spread abroad, they passed over the sea.
Perciocchè le campagne di Hesbon, [e] le vigne di Sibma languiscono; i padroni delle nazioni hanno tritate le viti eccellenti di essa, [le quali] arrivavano infino a Iazer, [e] scorrevano qua e là per lo deserto; [e] le sue propaggini, [che si] spandevano, e passavano di là dal mare.
9 Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh; for upon thy summer fruits and upon thy harvest the battle shout is fallen.
Perciò, io piangerò le vigne di Sibma del pianto di Iazer; o Hesbon, ed Eleale, io ti righerò delle mie lagrime; perciocchè le grida di allegrezza per li tuoi frutti di state, e per la tua ricolta, son venute meno.
10 And gladness and joy are taken away out of the fruitful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting; no treader shall tread out wine in the presses; I have made the vintage shout to cease.
E la letizia, e la festa è tolta via dal campo fertile; e non si canta, nè si giubila [più] nelle vigne; il pigiatore non pigia [più] il vino ne' tini; io ho fatte cessare, [dice il Signore], le grida da inanimare.
11 Wherefore my heart moaneth like a harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kir-heres.
Perciò, le mie viscere romoreggeranno a guisa di cetera, per cagion di Moab; e le mie interiora, per cagion di Chir-heres.
12 And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab hath wearied himself upon the high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail
Ed avverrà che, quantunque Moab si presenti, [e] si affatichi sopra il [suo] alto luogo, e venga al suo santuario, per fare orazione; pur non potrà [avanzar nulla].
13 This is the word that the LORD spoke concerning Moab in time past.
Quest'[è] la parola che il Signore ha detta contro a Moab, ab antico.
14 But now the LORD hath spoken, saying: 'Within three years, as the years of a hireling, and the glory of Moab shall wax contemptible for all his great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small and without strength.'
Ed ora il Signore ha parlato, dicendo: Infra tre anni, quale [è il termine] degli anni d'un servitore tolto a prezzo, la gloria di Moab sarà avvilita, insieme con tutta la [sua] gran moltitudine di popolo; e il rimanente [sarà] in poco numero, piccolo, e non grande. Il carico di Damasco
