< Habakkuk 1 >
1 THE BURDEN which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
Ĩno nĩyo ndũmĩrĩri nditũ ĩrĩa yakinyĩrĩire mũnabii Habakuku.
2 How long, O LORD, shall I cry, and Thou wilt not hear? I cry out unto Thee of violence, and Thou wilt not save.
Wee Jehova-rĩ, nĩ nginya rĩ ngũtũũra ngũkayagĩra ũndeithie, no wee ũkaaga kũnjigua? Githĩ ndigũkayagĩra ngiugaga, “Haaro! Haaro!” no wee ũkaaga kũhonokania?
3 Why dost Thou show me iniquity, and beholdest mischief? And why are spoiling and violence before me? so that there is strife, and contention ariseth.
Ũtũmaga ndĩrorere wagi wa kĩhooto nĩkĩ? Ũkiragĩrĩria maũndũ mooru nĩkĩ? Mwanangĩko na haaro irĩ mbere yakwa; kũrĩ na njũgitano, nayo mbaara nĩ nyingĩ.
4 Therefore the law is slacked, and right doth never go forth; for the wicked doth beset the righteous; therefore right goeth forth perverted.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, watho nĩmwagithie hinya, na kĩhooto gĩtihootanaga. Andũ arĩa aaganu marigiicaga arĩa athingu, na nĩ ũndũ ũcio kĩhooto gĩkoogomio.
5 Look ye among the nations, and behold, and wonder marvellously; for, behold, a work shall be wrought in your days, which ye will not believe though it be told you.
“Atĩrĩrĩ, ta rorai ndũrĩrĩ na mwĩrorere ũhoro wacio, na mũmake biũ. Nĩgũkorwo matukũ-inĩ maku nĩngwĩka ũndũ ũrĩa ũtangĩĩtĩkia o na ũngĩĩrwo.
6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impetuous nation, that march through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs.
Nĩngwarahũra andũ a Babuloni, andũ a haaro, na matarĩ tha, arĩa matuĩkanagia thĩ yothe, na makegwatĩra ciikaro itarĩ ciao.
7 They are terrible and dreadful; their law and their majesty proceed from themselves.
Nĩ andũ a kũmakania, na a gwĩtigĩrwo; nĩo meyathaga, na magetũũgĩria.
8 Their horses also are swifter than leopards, and are more fierce than the wolves of the desert; and their horsemen spread themselves; yea, their horsemen come from far, they fly as a vulture that hasteth to devour.
Mbarathi ciao irĩ ihenya gũkĩra ngarĩ, na nĩ ooru mũno gũkĩra njũũi iria icangacangaga kĩhwaĩ-inĩ. Thigari ciao iria ithiiaga ihaicĩte mbarathi itengʼeraga ta ciũmbũkĩte; ahaici acio a mbarathi moimaga kũndũ kũraya. Mombũkaga ta nderi ĩgĩcuuhũkĩra gĩa kũrĩa;
9 They come all of them for violence; their faces are set eagerly as the east wind; and they gather captives as the sand.
othe mokaga mehaarĩirie kũruta haaro. Thigari icio ciao nyingĩ mũno ithiiaga ihaatĩte ta rũhuho rwa werũ-inĩ, igathiĩ itahĩte andũ aingĩ mũno ta mũthanga.
10 And they scoff at kings, and princes are a derision unto them; they deride every stronghold, for they heap up earth, and take it.
Manyararaga athamaki, na makanyũrũria andũ arĩa maathanaga. Mathekagĩrĩra matũũra mothe manene marĩa mairigĩre; maakaga ihumbu cia tĩĩri, magatunyana matũũra macio.
11 Then their spirit doth pass over and transgress, and they become guilty: even they who impute their might unto their god.
Ningĩ mahĩtũkagĩra kuo na ihenya o ta rũhuho mathiĩte na mbere: andũ maagararaga watho, magatuĩka ehia, magatua atĩ hinya wao nĩguo ngai yao.”
12 Art not Thou from everlasting, O LORD my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O LORD, Thou hast ordained them for judgment, and Thou, O Rock, hast established them for correction.
Wee Jehova-rĩ, githĩ ndũtũũraga kuuma tene o na tene? O Wee Ngai wakwa, ũrĩa wakwa mũtheru, tondũ ũcio tũtigakua. Wee Jehova-rĩ, nĩwe ũthuurĩte andũ a Babuloni mahingie ituĩro rĩaku; wee Rwaro rwa Ihiga-rĩ, ũkamaamũra matũherithie.
13 Thou that art of eyes too pure to behold evil, and that canst not look on mischief, wherefore lookest Thou, when they deal treacherously, and holdest Thy peace, when the wicked swalloweth up the man that is more righteous than he;
Maitho maku nĩ matheru mũno, matingĩĩrorera ũmaramari; wee-rĩ, ndũngĩkirĩrĩria maũndũ mooru. Ũgĩkiragĩrĩria andũ arĩa oingumania nĩkĩ? Ũkiraga nĩkĩ rĩrĩa andũ arĩa aaganu mekũmeria andũ arĩa athingu kũmakĩra?
14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
Ũtuĩte andũ ta thamaki cia iria, ũkamatua ta ciũmbe cia iria-inĩ, iria itarĩ mũciathi.
15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag; therefore they rejoice and exult.
16 Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and offer unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their food plenteous.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, ĩrutagĩra wabu wayo igongona, na ĩgacinĩra mũtego wayo ũbumba, nĩgũkorwo wabu wayo nĩguo ũtũmaga ĩtũũre ĩĩkenagia, na ĩkarĩĩaga irio iria njega mũno.
17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare to slay the nations continually?
Ĩĩgũtũũra ĩtahaga na wabu wayo, ĩkaniinaga ndũrĩrĩ ingĩ ĩtegũciguĩra tha?
