Exodus 8

1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses: 'Go in unto Pharaoh, and say unto him: Thus saith the LORD: Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

Entonces Yavé dijo a Moisés: Entra a Faraón y dile: Yavé dice Deja salir a mi pueblo para que me sirva.

2 And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs.

Si te niegas a dejarlo ir, ciertamente Yo castigaré todo tu territorio con una plaga de ranas.

3 And the river shall swarm with frogs, which shall go up and come into thy house, and into thy bed-chamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneading-troughs.

El Nilo bullirá de ranas, las cuales subirán y penetrarán en tu palacio, en tu dormitorio y sobre tu propio lecho, así como en las casas de tus esclavos, entre tu pueblo, en tus hornos y en tus artesas de amasar.

4 And the frogs shall come up both upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.'

Las ranas subirán sobre ti, tu pueblo y todos tus esclavos.

5 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Say unto Aaron: Stretch forth thy hand with thy rod over the rivers, over the canals, and over the pools, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.'

Yavé dijo a Moisés: Dí a Aarón: Extiende tu mano con tu vara sobre los ríos, los arroyos y los estanques. Haz que suban ranas sobre la tierra de Egipto.

6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

Aarón extendió su mano sobre las aguas de Egipto, y subieron las ranas que cubrieron la tierra de Egipto.

7 And the magicians did in like manner with their secret arts, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.

Los hechiceros hicieron lo mismo con sus encantamientos, e hicieron subir ranas sobre la tierra de Egipto.

8 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said: 'Entreat the LORD, that He take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice unto the LORD.'

Entonces Faraón llamó a Moisés y a Aarón y les dijo: Supliquen a Yavé que quite las ranas de mí y de mi pueblo, y dejaré ir al pueblo para que ofrezca sacrificio a Yavé.

9 And Moses said unto Pharaoh: 'Have thou this glory over me; against what time shall I entreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, that the frogs be destroyed from thee and thy houses, and remain in the river only?'

Moisés dijo a Faraón: Dígnate indicarme cuándo debo suplicar por ti, por tus esclavos y por tu pueblo, para que las ranas sean quitadas de ti y de tus casas, y sean dejadas solo en el Nilo.

10 And he said: 'Against to-morrow.' And he said: 'Be it according to thy word; that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God.

Y él dijo: Mañana. Y Moisés respondió: Se hará conforme a tu palabra, para que entiendas que no hay como Yavé nuestro ʼElohim.

11 And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy servants, and from thy people; they shall remain in the river only.'

Se retirarán las ranas de ti, de tus casas, de tus esclavos y de tu pueblo. Solo serán dejadas en el Nilo.

12 And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh; and Moses cried unto the LORD concerning the frogs, which He had brought upon Pharaoh.

Moisés y Aarón salieron de la presencia de Faraón. Moisés clamó a Yavé por el asunto de las ranas que Él envió sobre Faraón.

13 And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the fields.

Yavé hizo conforme a la súplica de Moisés, y murieron las ranas de las casas, de los patios y de los campos.

14 And they gathered them together in heaps; and the land stank.

Las pusieron en grandes montones, y el país hedía.

15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken.

Pero cuando Faraón vio que había un alivio, endureció su corazón y no los escuchó, como dijo Yavé.

16 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Say unto Aaron: Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the earth, that it may become gnats throughout all the land of Egypt.'

Entonces Yavé dijo a Moisés: Dí a Aarón: Extiende tu vara y golpea el polvo de la tierra para que haya piojos en toda la tierra de Egipto.

17 And they did so; and Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and there were gnats upon man, and upon beast; all the dust of the earth became gnats throughout all the land of Egypt.

Y ellos lo hicieron así. Aarón extendió su mano con su vara, y golpeó el polvo de la tierra. Hubo piojos sobre hombres y bestias. ¡Todo el polvo de la tierra se convirtió en piojos en todo el país de Egipto!

18 And the magicians did so with their secret arts to bring forth gnats, but they could not; and there were gnats upon man, and upon beast.

Los hechiceros intentaron sacar los piojos con sus encantamientos, pero no pudieron. Así que hubo piojos sobre los hombres y las bestias.

19 Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh: 'This is the finger of God'; and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken.

Entonces los hechiceros dijeron a Faraón: ¡Esto es el dedo de ʼElohim! Pero el corazón de Faraón se endureció, y no los escuchó, como dijo Yavé.

20 And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him: Thus saith the LORD: Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

Yavé dijo a Moisés: Levántate temprano por la mañana, preséntate ante Faraón cuando sale al agua y dile: Yavé dice: Deja salir a mi pueblo para que me sirva.

21 Else, if thou wilt not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses; and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.

Porque si no dejas salir a mi pueblo, ciertamente enviaré una multitud de moscas sobre ti, tus esclavos, tu pueblo y tus casas. Las casas de los egipcios estarán llenas de podredumbre de moscas y también la tierra sobre la cual están.

22 And I will set apart in that day the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end that thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.

Sin embargo, el mismo día excluiré la tierra de Gosén en la cual vive mi pueblo para que no haya multitud de moscas en ella, y así entenderás que Yo, Yavé, estoy en medio de esta tierra.

23 And I will put a division between My people and thy people — by to-morrow shall this sign be.'

Yo haré división entre mi pueblo y tu pueblo. Mañana ocurrirá esta señal.

24 And the LORD did so; and there came grievous swarms of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses; and in all the land of Egypt the land was ruined by reason of the swarms of flies.

Así Yavé lo hizo. Llegó una gran multitud de moscas a la casa de Faraón y a las casas de sus esclavos. En todo el país de Egipto la tierra se corrompió por causa de la multitud de moscas.

25 And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said: 'Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land.'

Entonces Faraón llamó a Moisés y a Aarón y les dijo: Vayan, ofrezcan sacrificio a su ʼElohim dentro del país.

26 And Moses said: 'It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God; lo, if we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, will they not stone us?

Pero Moisés respondió: No es correcto hacerlo así, porque ofreceríamos sacrificio a Yavé nuestro ʼElohim, lo cual es repugnancia para los egipcios. Si sacrificamos lo que es una repugnancia para los egipcios delante de ellos, ¿no nos apedrearían?

27 We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as He shall command us.'

Tenemos que hacer una jornada de tres días por el desierto y ofreceremos sacrificio a Yavé nuestro ʼElohim, según lo que Él nos manda.

28 And Pharaoh said: 'I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away; entreat for me.'

Faraón respondió: Los dejaré salir para que ofrezcan sacrificio a Yavé su ʼElohim en el desierto, con tal que no vayan más lejos. ¡Supliquen por mí!

29 And Moses said: 'Behold, I go out from thee, and I will entreat the LORD that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow; only let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.'

Entonces Moisés dijo: Ciertamente voy a salir de tu presencia y suplicaré a Yavé que la multitud de moscas se aparte mañana de Faraón, de sus esclavos y de su pueblo, con tal que Faraón no siga engañándome al impedir al pueblo que salga a ofrecer sacrificios a Yavé.

30 And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and entreated the LORD.

Moisés salió de la presencia de Faraón y suplicó a Yavé.

31 And the LORD did according to the word of Moses; and He removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; there remained not one.

Yavé hizo conforme a la palabra de Moisés y apartó las moscas de Faraón, de sus esclavos y de su pueblo. No quedó ni una.

32 And Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and he did not let the people go.

Sin embargo Faraón endureció su corazón también esta vez, y no dejó salir al pueblo.
