Zephaniah 1
1 The word of the Lord, which came vnto Zephaniah ye sonne of Cushi, the sonne of Gedaliah, the sonne of Amariah, the sonne of Hizkiah, in the dayes of Iosiah, the sonne of Amon King of Iudah.
૧યહૂદિયાના રાજાની, એટલે આમોનના દીકરા યોશિયાની કારકિર્દીમાં, હિઝકિયાના દીકરા અમાર્યાના દીકરા ગદાલ્યાના દીકરા કૂશીના દીકરા સફાન્યા પાસે આ પ્રમાણે યહોવાહનું વચન આવ્યું.
2 I will surely destroy all things from off the land, saith the Lord.
૨યહોવાહ કહે છે કે, “હું આ પૃથ્વીની સપાટી પરથી સર્વ વસ્તુનો સંપૂર્ણ નાશ કરીશ.
3 I will destroy man and beast: I wil destroy the foules of the heauen, and the fishes of the sea, and ruines shalbe to the wicked, and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord.
૩હું માણસ તથા પશુઓનો નાશ કરીશ. હું આકાશના પક્ષીઓને તથા સમુદ્રની માછલીઓને પણ નષ્ટ કરીશ, અને દુષ્ટોની સાથે ઠોકર ખવડાવનારી વસ્તુઓનો પણ વિનાશ કરીશ. કેમ કે પૃથ્વીની સપાટી પરથી હું માણસનો નાશ કરીશ,” એવું યહોવાહ કહે છે.
4 I will also stretch out mine hand vpon Iudah, and vpon all the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and I wil cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with ye Priestes,
૪“હું મારો હાથ યહૂદિયા તથા યરુશાલેમના બધા રહેવાસીઓ પર લંબાવીશ, અને હું આ જગ્યાએથી બઆલના શેષનો તથા વ્યભિચારીઓના નામનો તથા યાજકોનો અંત લાવીશ.
5 And them that worship the hoste of heauen vpon the house tops, and them that worship and sweare by the Lord, and sweare by Malcham,
૫તેઓ ઘરની અગાશી પર જઈને આકાશના સૈન્યની ભક્તિ કરે છે, અને યહોવાહની સેવા કરનારાઓ અને સમ ખાનારાઓ છતાં માલ્કામને નામે પણ સમ ખાય છે.
6 And them that are turned backe from the Lord, and those that haue not sought the Lord, nor inquired for him.
૬જે લોકો યહોવાહને અનુસરવાથી પાછા ફર્યા છે, જેઓ મને શોધતા કે મારી સલાહ લેતા નથી તેઓનો હું નાશ કરીશ.”
7 Be stil at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, and hath sanctified his ghests.
૭પ્રભુ યહોવાહની સંમુખ શાંત રહો, કેમ કે યહોવાહનો દિવસ પાસે છે; યહોવાહે યજ્ઞ તૈયાર કર્યો છે તથા પોતાના અતિથિઓને પવિત્ર કર્યાં છે.
8 And it shalbe in the day of the Lords sacrifice, that I will visite the princes and the Kings children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparell.
૮“યહોવાહના યજ્ઞના દિવસે એવું થશે કે, હું અમલદારોને, રાજકુમારોને, તેમ જ જેઓએ પરદેશી વસ્ત્રો પહરેલાં હશે તે દરેકને શિક્ષા કરીશ.
9 In the same day also will I visite all those that dance vpon the threshold so proudly, which fill their masters houses by crueltie and deceite.
૯જેઓ ઉંબરો કૂદી જઈને, પોતાના માલિકનું ઘર હિંસાથી અને કપટથી ભરે છે તે સર્વને હું તે દિવસે શિક્ષા કરીશ.”
10 And in that day, saith the Lord, there shall be a noise, and cry from the fishgate, and an howling from the second gate, and a great destruction from the hilles.
૧૦યહોવાહ કહે છે કે, “તે દિવસે મચ્છી દરવાજેથી આપત્તિના પોકાર થશે, બીજા મહોલ્લામાં રુદન થશે, અને ડુંગરોમાંથી મોટા કડાકા સંભળાશે.
11 Howle ye inhabitants of the lowe place: for the companie of the marchants is destroyed: all they that beare siluer, are cut off.
૧૧માખ્તેશના રહેવાસીઓ વિલાપ કરો, કેમ કે બધા વેપારીઓ નાશ પામ્યા છે; ચાંદીથી લદાયેલા સર્વનો નાશ થશે.
12 And at that time will I searche Ierusalem with lightes, and visite the men that are frosen in their dregges, and say in their heartes, The Lord will neither doe good nor doe euill.
૧૨તે સમયે એવું થશે કે, જેઓ પોતાના દ્રાક્ષારસમાં સ્થિર થયા હશે અને પોતાના મનમાં કહેશે કે, ‘યહોવાહ અમારું કશું ખરાબ કે ભલું નહિ કરે’ એવું માનનારા માણસોને, તે વખતે હું દીવો લઈને યરુશાલેમમાંથી શોધી કાઢીશ અને શિક્ષા કરીશ.
13 Therefore their goods shall be spoyled, and their houses waste: they shall also build houses, but not inhabite them, and they shall plant vineyards, but not drinke the wine thereof.
૧૩તેમનું ધન લૂંટાઈ જશે, અને તેમનાં ઘરોનો નાશ થશે! તેઓ ઘરો બાંધશે પણ તેમાં રહેવા પામશે નહિ, દ્રાક્ષવાડીઓ રોપશે પણ તેનો દ્રાક્ષારસ પીવા પામશે નહિ!
14 The great day of the Lord is neere: it is neere, and hasteth greatly, euen the voyce of the day of the Lord: the strong man shall cry there bitterly.
૧૪યહોવાહનો મહાન દિવસ નજીક છે, તે નજીક છે અને બહુ ઝડપથી આવે છે. યહોવાહના દિવસનો સાદ સંભળાય છે, તે વખતે યોદ્ધાઓ પોક મૂકીને રડે છે.
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and heauinesse, a day of destruction and desolation, a day of obscuritie and darkenesse, a day of cloudes and blackenesse,
૧૫તે દિવસ કોપનો દિવસ, દુ: ખ તથા સંકટનો દિવસ, વિનાશનો તથા આફતનો દિવસ, અંધકાર તથા ધૂંધળાપણાનો દિવસ, વાદળો તથા અંધકારનો દિવસ છે.
16 A day of the trumpet and alarme against the strong cities, and against the hie towres.
૧૬કોટવાળાં નગરો વિરુદ્ધ તથા ઊંચા બુરજો વિરુદ્ધ રણશિંગડાનો તથા ભયસૂચક નાદનો દિવસ છે.
17 And I will bring distresse vpon men, that they shall walke like blind men, because they haue sinned against the Lord, and their blood shall be powred out as dust, and their flesh as the dongue.
૧૭કેમ કે હું માણસો ઉપર એવી આપત્તિ લાવીશ કે, તેઓ દ્રષ્ટિહીન માણસની જેમ ચાલશે, કેમ કે તેઓએ યહોવાહની વિરુદ્ધ પાપ કર્યુ છે. તેઓનું લોહી ધૂળની માફક વહેશે અને તેઓનાં શરીર છાણની જેમ ફેંકી દેવામાં આવશે.
18 Neither their siluer nor their golde shalbe able to deliuer them in ye day of the Lords wrath, but the whole lande shalbe deuoured by the fire of his ielousie: for hee shall make euen a speedie riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
૧૮યહોવાહના કોપના દિવસે તેઓનું સોનું કે ચાંદી તેઓને ઉગારી શકશે નહિ, આખી પૃથ્વી યહોવાહના પ્રચંડ રોષના અગ્નિથી ભસ્મીભૂત થઈ જશે. પૃથ્વી પરના સર્વ રહેવાસીઓનો અંતે, ઝડપી વિનાશ થશે.”
