Ruth 1
1 In the time that the Iudges ruled, there was a dearth in the lande, and a man of Beth-lehem Iudah went for to soiourne in the countrey of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sonnes.
Und es geschah in den Tagen, als die Richter richteten, da entstand eine Hungersnot im Lande. Und ein Mann von Bethlehem-Juda zog hin, um sich in den Gefilden Moabs aufzuhalten, er und sein Weib und seine beiden Söhne.
2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife, Naomi: and the names of his two sonnes, Mahlon, and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth-lehem Iudah: and when they came into the land of Moab, they continued there.
Und der Name des Mannes war Elimelech, und der Name seines Weibes Noomi, und die Namen seiner beiden Söhne Machlon und Kiljon, Ephratiter von Bethlehem-Juda. Und sie kamen in die Gefilde Moabs und blieben daselbst.
3 Then Elimelech the husband of Naomi died, and she remayned with her two sonnes,
Und Elimelech, der Mann Noomis, starb: und sie blieb mit ihren beiden Söhnen übrig.
4 Which tooke them wiues of the Moabites: the ones name was Orpah, and the name of ye other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten yeeres.
Und sie nahmen sich moabitische Weiber: der Name der einen war Orpa, und der Name der anderen Ruth; und sie wohnten daselbst bei zehn Jahren.
5 And Mahlon and Chilion dyed also both twaine: so the woman was left destitute of her two sonnes, and of her husband.
Da starben auch die beiden, Machlon und Kiljon; und das Weib blieb allein übrig von ihren beiden Söhnen und von ihrem Manne.
6 Then she arose with her daughters in law, and returned from the countrey of Moab: for she had heard say in the countrey of Moab, that the Lord had visited his people, and giuen them bread.
Und sie machte sich auf, sie und ihre Schwiegertöchter, und kehrte aus den Gefilden Moabs zurück; denn sie hatte im Gefilde Moabs gehört, daß Jehova sein Volk heimgesucht habe, um ihnen Brot zu geben. [O. indem er ihnen Brot gab]
7 Wherefore shee departed out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her, and they went on their way to returne vnto the land of Iudah.
Und sie zog aus von dem Orte, wo sie gewesen war, und ihre beiden Schwiegertöchter mit ihr; und sie zogen des Weges, um in das Land Juda zurückzukehren.
8 Then Naomi saide vnto her two daughters in lawe, Goe, returne eche of you vnto her owne mothers house: the Lord shew fauour vnto you, as ye haue done with the dead, and with me.
Da sprach Noomi zu ihren beiden Schwiegertöchtern: Gehet, kehret um, eine jede zum Hause ihrer Mutter. Jehova erweise Güte an euch, so wie ihr sie an den Verstorbenen und an mir erwiesen habt.
9 The Lord graunt you, that you may finde rest, either of you in the house of her husband. And when she kissed them, they lift vp their voice and wept.
Jehova gebe euch, daß ihr Ruhe findet, eine jede in dem Hause ihres Mannes! Und sie küßte sie. Und sie erhoben ihre Stimme und weinten;
10 And they saide vnto her, Surely we will returne with thee vnto thy people.
und sie sprachen zu ihr: Doch, wir wollen mit dir zu deinem Volke zurückkehren!
11 But Naomi saide, Turne againe, my daughters: for what cause will you go with me? are there any more sonnes in my wombe, that they may bee your husbands?
Und Noomi sprach: Kehret um, meine Töchter! Warum wolltet ihr mit mir gehen? Habe ich noch Söhne in meinem Leibe, daß sie euch zu Männern werden könnten?
12 Turne againe, my daughters: go your way: for I am too olde to haue an husband. If I should say, I haue hope, and if I had an husband this night: yea, if I had borne sonnes,
Kehret um, meine Töchter, gehet; denn ich bin zu alt, um eines Mannes zu werden. Wenn ich spräche: Ich habe Hoffnung; wenn ich selbst diese Nacht eines Mannes würde und sogar Söhne gebären sollte:
13 Would yee tarie for them, till they were of age? would ye be deferred for them from taking of husbands? nay my daughters: for it grieueth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
wolltet ihr deshalb warten, bis sie groß würden? wolltet ihr deshalb euch abschließen, daß ihr keines Mannes würdet? Nicht doch, meine Töchter! denn mir ergeht es viel bitterer als euch; denn die Hand Jehovas ist wider mich ausgegangen.
14 Then they lift vp their voyce and wept againe, and Orpah kissed her mother in lawe, but Ruth abode still with her.
Da erhoben sie ihre Stimme und weinten wiederum. Und Orpa küßte ihre Schwiegermutter; Ruth aber hing ihr an.
15 And Naomi said, Beholde, thy sister in law is gone backe vnto her people and vnto her gods: returne thou after thy sister in lawe.
Und sie sprach: Siehe, deine Schwägerin ist zu ihrem Volke und zu ihren Göttern zurückgekehrt; kehre um, deiner Schwägerin nach!
16 And Ruth answered, Intreate mee not to leaue thee, nor to depart from thee: for whither thou goest, I will goe: and where thou dwellest, I will dwell: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.
Aber Ruth sprach: Dringe nicht in mich, dich zu verlassen, hinter dir weg umzukehren; denn wohin du gehst, will ich gehen, und wo du weilst, will ich weilen; dein Volk ist mein Volk, und dein Gott ist mein Gott;
17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried. the Lord do so to me and more also, if ought but death depart thee and me.
wo du stirbst, will ich sterben, und daselbst will ich begraben werden. So soll mir Jehova tun und so hinzufügen, nur der Tod soll scheiden zwischen mir und dir!
18 Whe she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, she left speaking vnto her.
Und als sie sah, daß sie fest darauf bestand, mit ihr zu gehen, da ließ sie ab, ihr zuzureden.
19 So they went both vntill they came to Beth-lehem: and when they were come to Beth-lehem, it was noysed of them through all the citie, and they said, Is not this Naomi?
Und so gingen beide, bis sie nach Bethlehem kamen. Und es geschah, als sie nach Bethlehem kamen, da geriet die ganze Stadt ihretwegen in Bewegung, und sie [d. h. die Weiber der Stadt] sprachen: Ist das Noomi?
20 And she answered them, Call me not Naomi, but call me Mara: for the Almightie hath giuen me much bitternes.
Und sie sprach zu ihnen: Nennet mich nicht Noomi, [Huldvolle, Liebliche] nennet mich Mara; [Bittere, Betrübte] denn der Allmächtige hat es mir sehr bitter gemacht.
21 I went out full, and the Lord hath caused me to returne emptie: why call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath humbled me, and the Almightie hath brought me vnto aduersitie?
Voll bin ich gegangen, und leer hat mich Jehova zurückkehren lassen. Warum nennet ihr mich Noomi, da Jehova gegen mich gezeugt, und der Allmächtige mir Übles getan hat?
22 So Naomi returned and Ruth the Moabitesse her daughter in law with her, when she came out of the countrey of Moab: and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barly haruest.
Und so kehrte Noomi zurück, und Ruth, die Moabitin, ihre Schwiegertochter, mit ihr, welche aus den Gefilden Moabs zurückkehrte; und sie kamen nach Bethlehem beim Beginn der Gerstenernte.
