Psalms 82

1 A Psalme committed to Aspah. God standeth in the assemblie of gods: hee iudgeth among gods.

En salme av Asaf. Gud står i Guds menighet; midt iblandt guder holder han dom:

2 How long wil ye iudge vniustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? (Selah)

Hvor lenge vil I dømme urettferdig og holde med de ugudelige? (Sela)

3 Doe right to the poore and fatherlesse: doe iustice to the poore and needie.

Døm den ringe og farløse, la den elendige og fattige få sin rett!

4 Deliuer the poore and needie: saue them from the hand of the wicked.

Redd den ringe og trengende, frels ham fra de ugudeliges hånd!

5 They knowe not and vnderstand nothing: they walke in darkenes, albeit all the foundations of the earth be mooued.

De skjønner intet, og de forstår intet, de vandrer i mørke; alle jordens grunnvoller vakler.

6 I haue said, Ye are gods, and ye all are children of the most High.

Jeg har sagt: I er guder, og I er alle den Høiestes sønner.

7 But ye shall die as a man, and yee princes, shall fall like others.

Men sannelig, som mennesker skal I dø, og som en av fyrstene skal I falle.

8 O God, arise, therefore iudge thou the earth: for thou shalt inherite all nations.

Reis dig, Gud, hold dom over jorden! For du har alle hedningene i eie!
