Psalms 49
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Heare this, all ye people: giue eare, all ye that dwell in the world,
(Thơ của con cháu Cô-ra, soạn cho nhạc trưởng) Hãy nghe đây, tất cả các dân tộc! Hỡi những ai sống trên đất hãy chú ý!
2 As well lowe as hie, both rich and poore.
Người sang hay hèn, Người giàu hay nghèo—hãy lắng nghe!
3 My mouth shall speake of wisdome, and the meditation of mine heart is of knowledge.
Miệng tôi sẽ nói lời khôn ngoan, từ tâm hồn tôi sẽ ban tri thức.
4 I will incline mine eare to a parable, and vtter my graue matter vpon the harpe.
Tôi sẽ lắng tai nghe nhiều châm ngôn, và giải câu đố bí hiểm qua tiếng đàn hạc.
5 Wherefore should I feare in the euil dayes, when iniquitie shall compasse me about, as at mine heeles?
Tại sao ta còn sợ ngày tai nạn khi kẻ thù lừa đảo vây quanh?
6 They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.
Họ là người đặt lòng tin nơi của cải mình và khoe khoang về sự giàu có dư tràn.
7 Yet a man can by no meanes redeeme his brother: he can not giue his raunsome to God,
Không ai chuộc được sinh mạng của người khác, hay trả tiền chuộc mạng người cho Đức Chúa Trời.
8 (So precious is the redemption of their soules, and the continuance for euer)
Tiền chuộc mạng quá đắt, biết giá nào trả đủ
9 That he may liue still for euer, and not see the graue.
để người ấy được sống mãi mãi, và không thấy cái chết.
10 For he seeth that wise men die, and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leaue their riches for others.
Con người sẽ nhận thấy người khôn chết, người ngu dại và khờ khạo cũng chết như nhau, để tài sản lại cho người khác.
11 Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names.
Mồ mả sẽ là nhà ở của họ mãi mãi, nơi cư trú cho nhiều thế hệ. Dù đã lấy tên mình đặt cho tài sản ruộng đất,
12 But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die.
nhưng con người, dù vinh hoa cũng chẳng lâu dài. Họ sẽ đi mất chẳng khác gì loài dã thú.
13 This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. (Selah)
Đó là số phận của những người tự phụ, và những ai theo họ, vì chấp nhận lý thuyết của họ.
14 Like sheepe they lie in graue: death deuoureth them, and the righteous shall haue domination ouer them in the morning: for their beautie shall consume, when they shall goe from their house to graue. (Sheol h7585)
Họ như đàn chiên bị định xuống âm phủ, sự chết sẽ chăn giữ họ. Buổi sáng, người công chính sẽ quản trị họ. Thân xác họ sẽ rữa nát trong nấm mồ, xa khỏi những cung đền lộng lẫy. (Sheol h7585)
15 But God shall deliuer my soule from the power of the graue: for he will receiue me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Nhưng, Đức Chúa Trời sẽ chuộc linh hồn tôi khỏi âm phủ. Và đem tôi lên với Ngài. (Sheol h7585)
16 Be not thou afrayd when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.
Đừng kinh sợ khi một người trở nên giàu có khi vinh hoa phú quý hắn cứ gia tăng
17 For he shall take nothing away when he dieth, neither shall his pompe descende after him.
Vì khi người ấy xuôi tay nhắm mắt, chẳng đem theo được gì. Vinh hoa cũng chẳng theo người xuống mồ;
18 For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.
Dù khi còn sống tự coi mình là hạnh phúc, vì hưng thịnh, nên được đời ca tụng.
19 He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.
Nhưng người sẽ về với các thế hệ đi trước và mãi mãi không thấy được ánh sáng.
20 Man is in honour, and vnderstandeth not: he is like to beasts that perish.
Người được vinh hoa, lại thiếu hiểu biết; người cũng sẽ chết như loài cầm thú.
