Psalms 36
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid, the servant of the Lord. Wickedness sayeth to the wicked man, euen in mine heart, that there is no feare of God before his eyes.
[Dem Vorsänger. Von dem Knechte Jehovas, von David.] Die Übertretung des Gesetzlosen spricht [Eig. Spruch der Übertretung] im Innern meines Herzens: Es ist keine Furcht Gottes vor seinen Augen.
2 For hee flattereth himselfe in his owne eyes, while his iniquitie is foud worthy to be hated.
Denn es [O. sie] schmeichelt ihm in seinen eigenen Augen, seine Ungerechtigkeit zu erreichen, Haß auszuüben.
3 The wordes of his mouth are iniquitie and deceit: hee hath left off to vnderstand and to doe good.
Frevel [O. Unheil] und Trug sind die Worte seines Mundes; er hat es aufgegeben, verständig zu sein, Gutes zu tun.
4 Hee imagineth mischiefe vpon his bed: he setteth himselfe vpon a way, that is not good, and doeth not abhorre euill.
Frevel [O. Unheil] ersinnt er auf seinem Lager; er stellt sich auf einen [O. er steht auf einem] Weg, der nicht gut ist; das Böse verabscheut er nicht.
5 Thy mercy, O Lord, reacheth vnto the heauens, and thy faithfulnesse vnto the cloudes.
Jehova! an die Himmel reicht deine Güte, bis zu den Wolken deine Treue.
6 Thy righteousnesse is like the mightie moutaines: thy iudgements are like a great deepe: thou, Lord, doest saue man and beast.
Deine Gerechtigkeit ist gleich Bergen Gottes, [El; d. h. gleich hohen Bergen] deine Gerichte [O. Urteile, Rechte] sind eine große Tiefe; [S. die Anm. zu Ps. 33,7] Menschen und Vieh rettest du, Jehova.
7 How excellent is thy mercy, O God! therefore the children of men trust vnder the shadowe of thy wings.
Wie köstlich ist deine Güte, o Gott! Und Menschenkinder nehmen Zuflucht zu deiner Flügel Schatten;
8 They shall be satisfied with the fatnesse of thine house, and thou shalt giue them drinke out of the riuer of thy pleasures.
sie werden reichlich trinken von der Fettigkeit deines Hauses, und mit dem Strome deiner Wonnen wirst du sie tränken.
9 For with thee is the well of life, and in thy light shall we see light.
Denn bei dir ist der Quell des Lebens, in deinem Lichte werden wir das Licht sehen.
10 Extend thy louing kindnes vnto them that knowe thee, and thy righteousnesse vnto them that are vpright in heart.
Laß deine Güte fortdauern denen, die dich kennen, und deine Gerechtigkeit den von Herzen Aufrichtigen!
11 Let not ye foote of pride come against me, and let not the hand of ye wicked men moue me.
Nicht erreiche mich der Fuß der Hochmütigen, [W. des Hochmuts] und die Hand der Gesetzlosen vertreibe mich nicht!
12 There they are fallen that worke iniquity: they are cast downe, and shall not be able to rise.
Da [O. Dort, dann] sind gefallen, die Frevel tun; sie wurden niedergestoßen, und vermochten nicht aufzustehen.
