Psalms 20

1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid. The Lord heare thee in the day of trouble: the name of ye God of Iaakob defend thee:

[Dem Vorsänger. Ein Psalm von David.] Jehova erhöre dich am Tage der Drangsal, der Name des Gottes Jakobs setze dich in Sicherheit;

2 Send thee helpe from the Sanctuarie, and strengthen thee out of Zion.

Er sende deine Hülfe aus dem Heiligtum, und von Zion aus unterstütze er dich;

3 Let him remember all thine offerings, and turne thy burnt offerings into asshes. (Selah)

Er gedenke aller deiner Speisopfer, und dein Brandopfer wolle er annehmen! (Sela)

4 And graunt thee according to thine heart, and fulfill all thy purpose:

Er gebe dir nach deinem Herzen, und alle deine Ratschläge erfülle er!

5 That we may reioyce in thy saluation, and set vp the banner in the Name of our God, when the Lord shall performe all thy petitions.

Jubeln wollen wir über deine Rettung, und im Namen unseres Gottes das Panier erheben. [O. schwingen] Jehova erfülle alle deine Bitten!

6 Now know I that the Lord will helpe his anointed, and will heare him from his Sanctuarie, by the mightie helpe of his right hand.

Jetzt weiß ich, daß Jehova seinen Gesalbten rettet; aus seinen heiligen Himmeln wird er ihn erhören durch die Machttaten des Heils seiner Rechten.

7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the Name of ye Lord our God.

Diese gedenken der Wagen und jene der Rosse, wir aber gedenken [d. h. rühmend] des Namens Jehovas, unseres Gottes.

8 They are brought downe and fallen, but we are risen, and stand vpright.

Jene krümmen sich und fallen, wir aber stehen und halten uns aufrecht.

9 Saue Lord: let the King heare vs in the day that we call.

Jehova, rette! Der König erhöre uns am Tage unseres Rufens!
