Psalms 115

1 Not vnto vs, O Lord, not vnto vs, but vnto thy Name giue the glorie, for thy louing mercie and for thy truethes sake.

(Der Chor der Tempelsänger: ) / Nicht uns, Jahwe, nicht uns, / Nein, deinem Namen schaff Ehre, / Ob deiner Huld, ob deiner Treu!

2 Wherefore shall the heathen say, Where is nowe their God?

Warum sollen die Heiden sagen: / "Wo ist denn nun ihr Gott?"

3 But our God is in heauen: he doeth what so euer he will.

Und doch: Unser Gott, der im Himmel thront, / Hat stets hinausgeführt, woran er Gefallen fand.

4 Their idoles are siluer and golde, euen the worke of mens hands.

Aber ihre Götzen sind Silber und Gold, / Das Gebilde von Menschenhand.

5 They haue a mouth and speake not: they haue eyes and see not.

Sie haben einen Mund und können nicht reden. / Sie haben Augen und sehen doch nicht.

6 They haue eares and heare not: they haue noses and smelll not.

Ohren haben sie und hören nicht, / Sie haben eine Nase und riechen nicht.

7 They haue handes and touche not: they haue feete and walke not: neither make they a sound with their throte.

Ihre Hände — damit tasten sie nicht, / Ihre Füße — damit gehen sie nicht; / Nicht können sie reden mit ihrer Kehle.

8 They that make them are like vnto them: so are all that trust in them.

Ihnen gleich sind, die sie bilden — / Jeder, der ihnen vertraut.

9 O Israel, trust thou in the Lord: for he is their helpe and their shielde.

(Erster Priesterchor: ) / Israel, trau auf Jahwe! / (Zweiter Priesterchor: ) / Ihr Helfer und Schild ist er.

10 O house of Aaron, trust ye in the Lord: for he is their helpe and their shielde.

(Erster Priesterchor: ) / Haus Aarons, trau auf Jahwe! / (Zweiter Priesterchor: ) / Ihr Helfer und Schild ist er.

11 Ye that feare the Lord, trust in the Lord: for he is their helper and their shield.

(Beide Priesterchöre: ) / Die ihr Jahwe fürchtet, traut auch ihr Jahwe! / (Der Chor der Tempelsänger: ) / Ihr Helfer und Schild ist er.

12 The Lord hath bene mindfull of vs: he will blesse, he will blesse the house of Israel, he will blesse the house of Aaron.

(Der opfernde Priester am Altar: ) / Jahwe hat unser gedacht: er wird auch segnen. / Er wird segnen Israels Haus, / Er wird segnen Aarons Haus.

13 He will blesse them that feare the Lord, both small and great.

Er wird segnen, die Jahwe fürchten / Beide: Kleine und Große.

14 The Lord will increase his graces towarde you, euen toward you and toward your children.

Jahwe wolle euch mehren, / Euch selbst und eure Kinder!

15 Ye are blessed of the Lord, which made the heauen and the earth.

Gesegnet seid ihr von Jahwe, / Der Himmel und Erde geschaffen!

16 The heauens, euen the heauens are the Lordes: but he hath giuen the earth to the sonnes of men.

(Erster Priesterchor: ) / Der Himmel ist Jahwes Himmel, / Die Erde aber hat er den Menschenkindern gegeben.

17 The dead prayse not the Lord, neither any that goe downe into the place of silence.

(Zweiter Priesterchor: ) / Die Toten, sie werden Jah nicht loben, / Sie alle nicht, die in die Stille hinabgestiegen.

18 But we will prayse the Lord from henceforth and for euer. Prayse ye the Lord.

(Alle Chöre zusammen: ) / Wir aber, wir preisen Jah / Von nun an bis in Ewigkeit. / Lobt Jah!
