Proverbs 3
1 My sonne, forget not thou my Lawe, but let thine heart keepe my commandements.
Hỡi con, chớ quên sự khuyên dạy ta, Lòng con khá giữ các mạng lịnh ta;
2 For they shall increase the length of thy dayes and the yeeres of life, and thy prosperitie.
Vì nó sẽ thêm cho con lâu ngày, Số năm mạng sống, và sự bình an.
3 Let not mercie and trueth forsake thee: binde them on thy necke, and write them vpon the table of thine heart.
Sự nhơn từ và sự chơn thật, chớ để lìa bỏ con; Hãy đeo nó vào cổ, ghi nó nơi bia lòng con;
4 So shalt thou finde fauour and good vnderstanding in the sight of God and man.
Như vậy, trước mặt Ðức Chúa Trời và loài người Con sẽ được ơn và có sự khôn ngoan thật.
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and leane not vnto thine owne wisdome.
Hãy hết lòng tin cậy Ðức Giê-hô-va, Chớ nương cậy nơi sự thông sáng của con;
6 In all thy wayes acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy wayes.
Phàm trong các việc làm của con, khá nhận biết Ngài, Thì Ngài sẽ chỉ dẫn các nẻo của con.
7 Be not wise in thine owne eyes: but feare the Lord, and depart from euill.
Chớ khôn ngoan theo mắt mình; Hãy kính sợ Ðức Giê-hô-va, và lìa khỏi sự ác:
8 So health shalbe vnto thy nauel, and marowe vnto thy bones.
Như vậy, cuống rốn con sẽ được mạnh khỏe, Và xương cốt con được mát mẻ.
9 Honour the Lord with thy riches, and with the first fruites of all thine increase.
Hãy lấy tài vật và huê lợi đầu mùa của con, Mà tôn vinh Ðức Giê-hô-va;
10 So shall thy barnes be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall burst with newe wine.
Vậy, các vựa lẫm con sẽ đầy dư dật, Và những thùng của con sẽ tràn rượu mới.
11 My sonne, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieued with his correction.
Hỡi con, chớ khinh điều sửa phạt của Ðức Giê-hô-va, Chớ hiềm lòng khi Ngài quở trách;
12 For the Lord correcteth him, whome he loueth, euen as the father doeth the childe in whom he deliteth.
Vì Ðức Giê-hô-va yêu thương ai thì trách phạt nấy. Như một người cha đối cùng con trai yêu dấu mình.
13 Blessed is the man that findeth wisedome, and the man that getteth vnderstanding.
Người nào tìm đặng sự khôn ngoan, Và được sự thông sáng, có phước thay!
14 For the marchandise thereof is better then the marchandise of siluer, and the gaine thereof is better then golde.
Vì thà được nó hơn là được tiền bạc, Hoa lợi nó sanh ra tốt hơn vàng ròng.
15 It is more precious then pearles: and all things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared vnto her.
Sự khôn ngoan quí báu hơn châu ngọc, Chẳng một bửu vật nào con ưa thích mà sánh kịp nó được.
16 Length of dayes is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.
Tay hữu nó cầm sự trường thọ, Còn trong tay tả, có sự giàu có và vinh hiển.
17 Her wayes are wayes of pleasure, and all her pathes prosperitie.
Các nẻo nó vốn là nẻo khoái lạc, Và các lối nó cả điều bình an.
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay holde on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.
Nó là cây sự sống cho ai nắm lấy nó; Người nào cầm giữ nó đều được phước hạnh.
19 The Lord by wisdome hath layde the foundation of the earth, and hath stablished the heauens through vnderstanding.
Ðức Giê-hô-va dùng sự khôn ngoan lập nên trái đất; Nhờ sự thông sáng mà sắp đặt các từng trời.
20 By his knowledge the depthes are broken vp, and the cloudes droppe downe the dewe.
Do sự hiểu biết Ngài các vực sâu mở ra, Và mây đặt ra sương móc.
21 My sonne, let not these things depart from thine eyes, but obserue wisdome, and counsell.
Hỡi con, khá gìn giữ sự khôn ngoan thật và sự dẽ dặt, Chớ để nó lìa xa mắt con;
22 So they shalbe life to thy soule, and grace vnto thy necke.
Thì nó sẽ là sự sống của linh hồn con, Và như đồ trang sức cho cổ con.
23 Then shalt thou walke safely by thy way: and thy foote shall not stumble.
Con sẽ bước đi vững vàng trong đường con, Và chơn con không vấp ngã.
24 If thou sleepest, thou shalt not bee afraide, and when thou sleepest, thy sleepe shalbe sweete.
Khi con nằm, chẳng có điều sợ hãi; Phải, con sẽ nằm được ngủ ngon giấc.
25 Thou shalt not feare for any sudden feare, neither for the destruction of the wicked, when it commeth.
Chớ sợ sự kinh khiếp xảy đến thình lình, Cũng đừng kinh hãi lúc sự tàn hại giáng trên kẻ ác;
26 For the Lord shall be for thine assurance, and shall preserue thy foote from taking.
Vì Ðức Giê-hô-va là nơi nương cậy của con, Ngài sẽ gìn giữ chơn con khỏi mắc bẫy.
27 Withhold not the good from the owners thereof, though there be power in thine hand to doe it.
Chớ từ chối làm lành cho kẻ nào xứng đáng, Miễn là tay con có quyền làm điều ấy.
28 Say not vnto thy neighbour, Go and come againe, and to morow wil I giue thee, if thou now haue it.
Nhược bằng con có tại nơi con vật kẻ lân cận cầu xin, thì chớ nói với người rằng: Hãy đi và trở lại, ngày mai ta sẽ cho ngươi.
29 Intend none hurt against thy neighbour, seeing he doeth dwell without feare by thee.
Chớ lập mưu hại kẻ lân cận con, Vì người ăn ở bình yên bên con.
30 Striue not with a man causelesse, when he hath done thee no harme.
Nếu không có làm điều hại cho con, Chớ tranh giành vô cớ với ai.
31 Bee not enuious for the wicked man, neither chuse any of his wayes.
Chớ phân bì với kẻ hung dữ, Cũng đừng chọn lối nào của hắn;
32 For the frowarde is abomination vnto the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
Vì Ðức Giê-hô-va gớm ghiếc kẻ gian tà; Nhưng kết tình bậu bạn cùng người ngay thẳng.
33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.
Sự rủa sả của Ðức Giê-hô-va giáng trên nhà kẻ ác. Song Ngài ban phước cho chỗ ở của người công bình.
34 With the scornefull he scorneth, but hee giueth grace vnto the humble.
Quả thật Ngài nhạo báng kẻ hay nhạo báng; Nhưng Ngài ban ơn cho người khiêm nhường.
35 The wise shall inherite glorie: but fooles dishonour, though they be exalted.
Người khôn ngoan sẽ hưởng được sự vinh hiển; Còn sự thăng lên của kẻ ngu dại sẽ ra điều hổ thẹn.
