Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart are in man: but the answere of the tongue is of the Lord.
૧માણસો મનમાં સંકલ્પ કરે છે, પણ જીભથી ઉત્તર આપવો તે યહોવાહના હાથમાં છે.
2 All the wayes of a man are cleane in his owne eyes: but the Lord pondereth the spirits.
૨માણસના સર્વ માર્ગો તેની પોતાની નજરમાં તો ચોખ્ખા છે, પણ યહોવાહ તેઓનાં મનની તુલના કરે છે.
3 Commit thy workes vnto the Lord, and thy thoughts shalbe directed.
૩તારાં કામો યહોવાહને સોંપી દે એટલે તારી યોજનાઓ સફળ થશે.
4 The Lord hath made all things for his owne sake: yea, euen the wicked for the day of euill.
૪યહોવાહે દરેક વસ્તુને પોતપોતાના હેતુને માટે સર્જી છે, હા, દુષ્ટોને પણ સંકટના દિવસને માટે સર્જ્યા છે.
5 All that are proude in heart, are an abomination to the Lord: though hand ioyne in hand, he shall not be vnpunished.
૫દરેક અભિમાની અંતઃકરણવાળી વ્યક્તિને યહોવાહ ધિક્કારે છે, ખાતરી રાખજો તે શિક્ષા પામ્યા વગર રહેશે નહિ.
6 By mercy and trueth iniquitie shalbe forgiuen, and by the feare of the Lord they depart from euill.
૬દયા તથા સત્યતાથી પાપનું પ્રાયશ્ચિત થાય છે અને યહોવાહના ભયથી માણસો દુષ્ટતાથી દૂર રહે છે.
7 When the wayes of a man please the Lord, he will make also his enemies at peace with him.
૭જ્યારે કોઈ માણસના માર્ગથી યહોવાહ ખુશ થાય છે, ત્યારે તે તેના દુશ્મનોને પણ તેની સાથે શાંતિથી રાખે છે.
8 Better is a litle with righteousnesse, then great reuenues without equitie.
૮અન્યાયથી મળેલી ઘણી આવક કરતાં, ન્યાયથી મળેલી થોડી આવક સારી છે.
9 The heart of man purposeth his way: but the Lord doeth direct his steppes.
૯માણસનું મન પોતાના માર્ગની યોજના કરે છે, પણ તેનાં પગલાં ચલાવવાનું કામ યહોવાહના હાથમાં છે.
10 A diuine sentence shalbe in the lips of the King: his mouth shall not transgresse in iudgement.
૧૦રાજાના હોઠોમાં ઈશ્વરવાણી છે, તેનું મુખ ખોટો ઇનસાફ કરશે નહિ.
11 A true weight and balance are of the Lord: all the weightes of the bagge are his worke.
૧૧પ્રામાણિક ત્રાજવાં યહોવાહનાં છે; કોથળીની અંદરના સર્વ વજનિયાં તેમનું કામ છે.
12 It is an abomination to Kings to commit wickednes: for the throne is stablished by iustice.
૧૨જ્યારે દુષ્ટ કર્મો કરવાથી રાજાઓને કંટાળો આવે છે, ત્યારે સારાં કામોથી રાજ્યાસન સ્થિર થાય છે.
13 Righteous lips are the delite of Kings, and the King loueth him that speaketh right things.
૧૩નેક હોઠો રાજાને આનંદદાયક છે અને તેઓ યથાર્થ બોલનાર ઉપર પ્રેમ રાખે છે.
14 The wrath of a King is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacifie it.
૧૪રાજાનો કોપ મૃત્યુદૂતો જેવો છે, પણ શાણી વ્યક્તિ પોતાના ગુસ્સાને શાંત પાડશે.
15 In the light of the Kings coutenance is life: and his fauour is as a cloude of the latter raine.
૧૫રાજાના મુખના પ્રકાશમાં જીવન છે અને તેની કૃપા પાછલા વરસાદના વાદળાં જેવી છે.
16 Howe much better is it to get wisedome then golde? and to get vnderstanding, is more to be desired then siluer.
૧૬સોના કરતાં ડહાપણ મેળવવું એ કેટલું ઉત્તમ છે. ચાંદી કરતાં સમજણ મેળવવી વધારે યોગ્ય છે.
17 The pathe of the righteous is to decline from euil, and hee keepeth his soule, that keepeth his way.
૧૭દુષ્ટતાથી દૂર જવું એ જ પ્રામાણિક માણસનો રાજમાર્ગ છે; જે પોતાનો માર્ગ સંભાળે છે તે પોતાના આત્માનું રક્ષણ કરે છે.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an high minde before the fall.
૧૮અભિમાનનું પરિણામ નાશ છે અને ગર્વિષ્ઠ સ્વભાવનો અંત પાયમાલી છે.
19 Better it is to be of humble minde with the lowly, then to deuide the spoyles with the proude.
૧૯ગરીબની સાથે નમ્રતા રાખવી તે સારું છે તે અભિમાનીની સાથે લૂંટના ભાગીદાર થવા કરતાં વધારે સારું છે.
20 He that is wise in his busines, shall finde good: and he that trusteth in the Lord, he is blessed.
૨૦જે પ્રભુના વચનોનું ચિંતન કરે છે તેનું હિત થશે; અને જે કોઈ યહોવાહ પર વિશ્વાસ રાખે છે તે આનંદિત છે.
21 The wise in heart shall bee called prudent: and the sweetenesse of the lippes shall increase doctrine.
૨૧જ્ઞાની અંત: કરણવાળો માણસ સમજદાર કહેવાશે; અને તેની મીઠી વાણીથી સમજદારીની વૃદ્ધિ થાય છે.
22 Vnderstading is welspring of life vnto them that haue it: and the instruction of fooles is folly.
૨૨જેની પાસે સમજ હોય તેને માટે સમજણ જીવનદાતા છે, પણ મૂર્ખ માટે શિક્ષા એ તેઓની મૂર્ખાઈ છે.
23 The heart of the wise guideth his mouth wisely, and addeth doctrine to his lippes.
૨૩જ્ઞાનીનું હૃદય તેના મુખને શીખવે છે અને તેના હોઠોને સમજની વૃદ્ધિ કરી આપે છે.
24 Faire wordes are as an hony combe, sweetenesse to the soule, and health to the bones.
૨૪માયાળુ શબ્દો મધ જેવા છે, તેઓ આત્માને મીઠા લાગે છે અને હાડકાંને આરોગ્ય આપે છે.
25 There is a way that seemeth right vnto man: but the issue thereof are the wayes of death.
૨૫એક એવો માર્ગ છે જે માણસને સાચો લાગે છે, પણ અંતે તે મૃત્યુ તરફ લઈ જાય છે.
26 The person that traueileth, traueileth for himselfe: for his mouth craueth it of him.
૨૬મજૂરની ભૂખ તેની પાસે મજૂરી કરાવે છે; તેની ભૂખ એમ કરવા તેને આગ્રહ કરે છે.
27 A wicked man diggeth vp euill, and in his lippes is like burning fire.
૨૭અધમ માણસ અપરાધ કરે છે અને તેની બોલી બાળી મૂકનાર અગ્નિ જેવી છે.
28 A frowarde person soweth strife: and a tale teller maketh diuision among princes.
૨૮દુષ્ટ માણસ કજિયાકંકાસ કરાવે છે, અને કૂથલી કરનાર નજીકના મિત્રોમાં ફૂટ પડાવે છે.
29 A wicked man deceiueth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
૨૯હિંસક માણસ પોતાના પડોશીને છેતરે છે અને ખરાબ માર્ગમાં દોરી જાય છે.
30 He shutteth his eyes to deuise wickednes: he moueth his lippes, and bringeth euil to passe.
૩૦આંખ મટકાવનાર વ્યક્તિ મુશ્કેલી લાવનારી યોજનાઓ કરે છે; હોઠ ભીડનાર વ્યક્તિ કંઈક અનિષ્ટ કરી રહી હોય છે.
31 Age is a crowne of glory, when it is founde in the way of righteousnes.
૩૧સફેદ વાળ એે ગૌરવનો તાજ છે; સત્યને માર્ગે ચાલનારને એ મળે છે.
32 He that is slowe vnto anger, is better then the mightie man: and hee that ruleth his owne minde, is better then he that winneth a citie.
૩૨જે ક્રોધ કરવે ધીમો તે પરાક્રમી કરતાં સારો છે, અને જે પોતાના મિજાજને કાબૂમાં રાખે છે તે શહેર જીતનાર કરતાં ઉત્તમ છે.
33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposition thereof is of the Lord.
૩૩ચિઠ્ઠી ખોળામાં નાખવામાં આવે છે, પણ તે બધાનો નિર્ણય તો યહોવાહના હાથમાં છે.
