Proverbs 15
1 A soft answere putteth away wrath: but grieuous wordes stirre vp anger.
Jawaban yang lemah lembut meredakan kegeraman, tetapi perkataan yang pedas membangkitkan marah.
2 The tongue of the wise vseth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fooles babbleth out foolishnesse.
Lidah orang bijak mengeluarkan pengetahuan, tetapi mulut orang bebal mencurahkan kebodohan.
3 The eyes of the Lord in euery place beholde the euill and the good.
Mata TUHAN ada di segala tempat, mengawasi orang jahat dan orang baik.
4 A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life: but the frowardnes therof is the breaking of ye minde.
Lidah lembut adalah pohon kehidupan, tetapi lidah curang melukai hati.
5 A foole despiseth his fathers instruction: but he that regardeth correction, is prudent.
Orang bodoh menolak didikan ayahnya, tetapi siapa mengindahkan teguran adalah bijak.
6 The house of the righteous hath much treasure: but in the reuenues of the wicked is trouble.
Di rumah orang benar ada banyak harta benda, tetapi penghasilan orang fasik membawa kerusakan.
7 The lippes of the wise doe spread abroade knowledge: but ye heart of the foolish doth not so.
Bibir orang bijak menaburkan pengetahuan, tetapi hati orang bebal tidak jujur.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable vnto him.
Korban orang fasik adalah kekejian bagi TUHAN, tetapi doa orang jujur dikenan-Nya.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination vnto the Lord: but he loueth him that followeth righteousnes.
Jalan orang fasik adalah kekejian bagi TUHAN, tetapi siapa mengejar kebenaran, dikasihi-Nya.
10 Instruction is euill to him that forsaketh the way, and he that hateth correction, shall die.
Didikan yang keras adalah bagi orang yang meninggalkan jalan yang benar, dan siapa benci kepada teguran akan mati.
11 Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more the hearts of the sonnes of men? (Sheol h7585)
Dunia orang mati dan kebinasaan terbuka di hadapan TUHAN, lebih-lebih hati anak manusia! (Sheol h7585)
12 A scorner loueth not him that rebuketh him, neither will he goe vnto the wise.
Si pencemooh tidak suka ditegur orang; ia tidak mau pergi kepada orang bijak.
13 A ioyfull heart maketh a chearefull countenance: but by the sorow of the heart the minde is heauie.
Hati yang gembira membuat muka berseri-seri, tetapi kepedihan hati mematahkan semangat.
14 The heart of him that hath vnderstanding, seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of the foole is fedde with foolishnes.
Hati orang berpengertian mencari pengetahuan, tetapi mulut orang bebal sibuk dengan kebodohan.
15 All the dayes of the afflicted are euill: but a good conscience is a continuall feast.
Hari orang berkesusahan buruk semuanya, tetapi orang yang gembira hatinya selalu berpesta.
16 Better is a litle with the feare of the Lord, then great treasure, and trouble therewith.
Lebih baik sedikit barang dengan disertai takut akan TUHAN dari pada banyak harta dengan disertai kecemasan.
17 Better is a dinner of greene herbes where loue is, then a stalled oxe and hatred therewith.
Lebih baik sepiring sayur dengan kasih dari pada lembu tambun dengan kebencian.
18 An angrie man stirreth vp strife: but hee that is slowe to wrath, appeaseth strife.
Si pemarah membangkitkan pertengkaran, tetapi orang yang sabar memadamkan perbantahan.
19 The way of a slouthfull man is as an hedge of thornes: but the way of the righteous is plaine.
Jalan si pemalas seperti pagar duri, tetapi jalan orang jujur adalah rata.
20 A wise sonne reioyceth the father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
Anak yang bijak menggembirakan ayahnya, tetapi orang yang bebal menghina ibunya.
21 Foolishnes is ioy to him that is destitute of vnderstanding: but a man of vnderstanding walketh vprightly.
Kebodohan adalah kesukaan bagi yang tidak berakal budi, tetapi orang yang pandai berjalan lurus.
22 Without cousel thoughts come to nought: but in the multitude of counsellers there is stedfastnesse.
Rancangan gagal kalau tidak ada pertimbangan, tetapi terlaksana kalau penasihat banyak.
23 A ioy commeth to a man by the answere of his mouth: and how good is a word in due season?
Seseorang bersukacita karena jawaban yang diberikannya, dan alangkah baiknya perkataan yang tepat pada waktunya!
Jalan kehidupan orang berakal budi menuju ke atas, supaya ia menjauhi dunia orang mati di bawah. (Sheol h7585)
25 The Lord will destroye the house of the proude men: but hee will stablish the borders of the widowe.
Rumah orang congkak dirombak TUHAN, tetapi batas tanah seorang janda dijadikan-Nya tetap.
26 The thoughts of ye wicked are abomination to the Lord: but the pure haue pleasant wordes.
Rancangan orang jahat adalah kekejian bagi TUHAN, tetapi perkataan yang ramah itu suci.
27 He that is greedie of gaine, troubleth his owne house: but he that hateth giftes, shall liue.
Siapa loba akan keuntungan gelap, mengacaukan rumah tangganya, tetapi siapa membenci suap akan hidup.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answere: but the wicked mans mouth babbleth euil thinges.
Hati orang benar menimbang-nimbang jawabannya, tetapi mulut orang fasik mencurahkan hal-hal yang jahat.
29 The Lord is farre off from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
TUHAN itu jauh dari pada orang fasik, tetapi doa orang benar didengar-Nya.
30 The light of the eyes reioyceth the heart, and a good name maketh the bones fat.
Mata yang bersinar-sinar menyukakan hati, dan kabar yang baik menyegarkan tulang.
31 The eare that hearkeneth to the correction of life, shall lodge among the wise.
Orang yang mengarahkan telinga kepada teguran yang membawa kepada kehidupan akan tinggal di tengah-tengah orang bijak.
32 Hee that refuseth instruction, despiseth his owne soule: but he that obeyeth correction, getteth vnderstanding.
Siapa mengabaikan didikan membuang dirinya sendiri, tetapi siapa mendengarkan teguran, memperoleh akal budi.
33 The feare of the Lord is the instruction of wisdome: and before honour, goeth humilitie.
Takut akan TUHAN adalah didikan yang mendatangkan hikmat, dan kerendahan hati mendahului kehormatan.
