Numbers 23
1 And Balaam sayd vnto Balak, Builde me here seuen altars, and prepare me here seuen bullockes, and seuen rammes.
| بلعام به بالاقِ پادشاه گفت: «در اینجا هفت مذبح بساز و هفت گاو و هفت قوچ برای قربانی حاضر کن.» |
2 And Balak did as Balaam sayd, and Balak and Balaam offred on euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
| بالاق به دستور بلعام عمل نمود و ایشان بر هر مذبح، یک گاو و یک قوچ قربانی کردند. |
3 Then Balaam sayde vnto Balak, Stande by the burnt offring, and I will goe, if so be that the Lord will come and meete me: and whatsoeuer he sheweth me, I will tell thee: so he went forth alone.
| بعد بلعام به بالاق گفت: «در اینجا در کنار قربانیهای سوختنی خود بایست تا من بروم و ببینم آیا خداوند به ملاقات من می‌آید یا نه. هر چه او به من بگوید به تو خواهم گفت.» پس بلعام به بالای تپه‌ای رفت و در آنجا خدا او را ملاقات نمود. بلعام به خدا گفت: «من هفت مذبح حاضر نموده و روی هر کدام یک گاو و یک قوچ قربانی کرده‌ام.» |
4 And God met Balaam, and Balaam sayd vnto him, I haue prepared seuen altars, and haue offred vpon euery altar a bullocke and a ramme.
5 And the Lord put an answere in Balaams mouth, and sayde, Go againe to Balak, and say on this wise.
| آنگاه خداوند توسط بلعام برای بالاق پادشاه پیامی فرستاد. |
6 So when he returned vnto him, loe, hee stoode by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.
| پس بلعام به نزد پادشاه که با همهٔ بزرگان موآب در کنار قربانیهای سوختنی خود ایستاده بود بازگشت |
7 Then he vttered his parable, and sayde, Balak the king of Moab hath brought mee from Aram out of the mountaines of the East, saying, Come, curse Iaakob for my sake: come, and detest Israel.
| و این پیام را داد: «بالاق، پادشاه موآب مرا از سرزمین ارام، از کوههای شرقی آورد. او به من گفت:”بیا و قوم اسرائیل را برای من نفرین کن.“ولی چگونه نفرین کنم آنچه را که خدا نفرین نکرده است؟ چگونه لعنت کنم قومی را که خداوند لعنت نکرده است؟ از بالای صخره‌ها ایشان را می‌بینم، از بالای تپه‌ها آنان را مشاهده می‌کنم. آنان قومی هستند که به تنهایی زندگی می‌کنند و خود را از دیگر قومها جدا می‌دانند. ایشان مثل غبارند، بی‌شمار و بی‌حساب! ای کاش این سعادت را می‌داشتم که همچون یک صالح بمیرم. ای کاش عاقبت من، مثل عاقبت آنها باشد!» |
8 How shall I curse, where God hath not cursed? or howe shall I detest, where the Lord hath not detested?
9 For from the top of the rocks I did see him, and from the hils I did beholde him: lo, the people shall dwell by themselues, and shall not be reckened among the nations.
10 Who can tell the dust of Iaakob, and the nomber of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last ende be like his.
11 Then Balak saide vnto Balaam, What hast thou done vnto mee? I tooke thee to curse mine enemies, and beholde, thou hast blessed them altogether.
| بالاق پادشاه به بلعام گفت: «این چه کاری بود که کردی؟ من به تو گفتم که دشمنانم را نفرین کنی، ولی تو ایشان را برکت دادی!» |
12 And he answered, and said, Must I not take heede to speake that, which the Lord hath put in my mouth?
| اما بلعام جواب داد: «آیا می‌توانم سخن دیگری غیر از آنچه که خداوند به من می‌گوید بر زبان آورم؟» |
13 And Balak sayde vnto him, Come, I pray thee, with mee vnto another place, whence thou mayest see them, and thou shalt see but the vtmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: therefore curse them out of that place for my sake.
| بعد بالاق به او گفت: «پس بیا تا تو را به جای دیگری ببرم. از آنجا فقط قسمتی از قوم اسرائیل را خواهی دید. حداقل آن عده را نفرین کن.» |
14 And he brought him into Sede-sophim to the top of Pisgah, and built seuen altars, and offred a bullocke, and a ramme on euery altar.
| بنابراین بالاق پادشاه، بلعام را به مزرعهٔ صوفیم بر روی کوه پیسگاه برد و در آنجا هفت مذبح ساخت و روی هر مذبح یک گاو و یک قوچ قربانی کرد. |
15 After, he sayde vnto Balak, Stande here by thy burnt offring, and I wil meete the Lord yonder.
| پس بلعام به پادشاه گفت: «تو در کنار قربانی سوختنی خود بایست تا من به ملاقات خداوند بروم.» |
16 And the Lord mette Balaam, and put an answere in his mouth, and sayd, Goe againe vnto Balak, and say thus.
| خداوند بلعام را ملاقات نمود و آنچه را که او می‌بایست به بالاق بگوید به او گفت. |
17 And when he came to him, beholde, hee stoode by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him: so Balak sayde vnto him, What hath the Lord sayd?
| پس بلعام به نزد پادشاه که با بزرگان موآب در کنار قربانیهای سوختنی خود ایستاده بود، بازگشت. پادشاه پرسید: «خداوند چه فرموده است؟» |
18 And he vttered his parable, and sayde, Rise vp, Balak, and heare: hearken vnto me, thou sonne of Zippor.
| جواب بلعام چنین بود: «بالاق، برخیز و بشنو! ای پسر صفور، به من گوش فرا ده! |
19 God is not as man, that he should lie, neither as the sonne of man that he shoulde repent: hath he sayde and shall he not do it? and hath he spoken, and shall he not accomplish it?
| خدا انسان نیست که دروغ بگوید، او مثل انسان نیست که تغییر فکر دهد. آیا تاکنون وعده‌ای داده است که بدان عمل نکرده باشد؟ یا کلامی بر زبان آورده که به انجام نرسانده باشد؟ |
20 Behold, I haue receiued commandement to blesse: for he hath blessed, and I cannot alter it.
| به من دستور داده شده است که ایشان را برکت دهم، زیرا خدا آنان را برکت داده است و من نمی‌توانم آن را تغییر دهم. |
21 Hee seeth none iniquitie in Iaakob, nor seeth no transgression in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, and the ioyfull shoute of a king is among them.
| او گناهی در اسرائیل ندیده است، پس بدبختی در قوم خدا مشاهده نخواهد شد. خداوند، خدای ایشان با آنان است، و ایشان اعلان می‌کنند که او پادشاه آنهاست. |
22 God brought them out of Egypt: their strength is as an vnicorne.
| خدا اسرائیل را از مصر بیرون آورده است، آنها مثل شاخهای گاو وحشی نیرومند هستند. |
23 For there is no sorcerie in Iaakob, nor soothsaying in Israel: according to this time it shalbe sayde of Iaakob and of Israel, What hath God wrought?
| نمی‌توان اسرائیل را نفرین کرد، و هیچ افسونی بر این قوم کارگر نیست. دربارهٔ اسرائیل خواهند گفت:”ببینید خدا برای آنها چه کارهایی کرده است!“ |
24 Behold, the people shall rise vp as a lyon, and lift vp himselfe as a yong lyon: hee shall not lye downe, till he eate of the pray, and till he drinke the blood of the slayne.
| این قوم، چون شیر ماده برمی‌خیزد، و همچون شیر نر خود را بر پا می‌دارد. و تا وقتی شکار خود را نخورند و خون کشتگان را ننوشند، نمی‌خوابند.» |
25 Then Balak sayde vnto Balaam, Neither curse, nor blesse them at all.
| پادشاه به بلعام گفت: «اگر آنها را نفرین نمی‌کنی، حداقل برکتشان هم نده.» |
26 But Balaam answered, and saide vnto Balak, Tolde not I thee, saying, All that the Lord speaketh, that must I do?
| اما بلعام جواب داد: «مگر به تو نگفتم هر چه خداوند بر زبانم بگذارد آن را خواهم گفت؟» |
27 Againe Balak sayd vnto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I wil bring thee vnto another place, if so be it wil please God, that thou mayest thence curse them for my sake.
| بعد بالاق پادشاه، به بلعام گفت: «تو را به جای دیگری می‌برم، شاید خدا را خوش آید و به تو اجازه فرماید از آنجا بنی‌اسرائیل را نفرین کنی.» |
28 So Balak brought Balaam vnto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Ieshmon.
| پس بالاق پادشاه بلعام را به قلهٔ کوه فغور که مشرف به بیابان بود، برد. |
29 Then Balaam sayde vnto Balak, Make me here seuen altars, and prepare me here seuen bullocks, and seuen rammes.
| بلعام دوباره به بالاق گفت که هفت مذبح بسازد و هفت گاو و هفت قوچ برای قربانی حاضر کند. |
30 And Balak did as Balaam had sayd, and offred a bullocke and a ram on euery altar.
| بالاق چنانکه بلعام گفته بود عمل نمود و بر هر مذبح، یک گاو و یک قوچ قربانی کرد. |
