Matthew 14
1 At that time Herod the Tetrarche heard of the fame of Iesus,
Ní àkókò náà ni Herodu ọba tetrarki gbọ́ nípa òkìkí Jesu,
2 And sayde vnto his seruaunts, This is that Iohn Baptist, hee is risen againe from the deade, and therefore great woorkes are wrought by him.
ó wí fún àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ pé, “Dájúdájú Johanu onítẹ̀bọmi ni èyí, ó jíǹde kúrò nínú òkú. Ìdí nìyí tí ó fi ní agbára láti ṣiṣẹ́ ìyanu wọ̀nyí.”
3 For Herod had taken Iohn, and bounde him, and put him in prison for Herodias sake, his brother Philips wife.
Nísinsin yìí Herodu ti mú Johanu, ó fi ẹ̀wọ̀n dè é, ó sì fi sínú túbú, nítorí Herodia aya Filipi arákùnrin rẹ̀,
4 For Iohn saide vnto him, It is not lawfull for thee to haue her.
nítorí Johanu onítẹ̀bọmi ti sọ fún Herodu pé, “Kò yẹ fún ọ láti fẹ́ obìnrin náà.”
5 And when hee woulde haue put him to death, hee feared the multitude, because they counted him as a Prophet.
Herodu fẹ́ pa Johanu, ṣùgbọ́n ó bẹ̀rù àwọn ènìyàn nítorí gbogbo ènìyàn gbàgbọ́ pé wòlíì ni.
6 But when Herods birth day was kept, the daughter of Herodias daunced before them, and pleased Herod.
Ní ọjọ́ àsè ìrántí ọjọ́ ìbí Herodu, ọmọ Herodia obìnrin jó dáradára, ó sì tẹ́ Herodu lọ́run gidigidi.
7 Wherefore he promised with an othe, that he would giue her whatsoeuer she would aske.
Nítorí náà ni ó ṣe fi ìbúra ṣe ìlérí láti fún un ní ohunkóhun ti ó bá béèrè fún.
8 And shee being before instructed of her mother, sayde, Giue mee here Iohn Baptists head in a platter.
Pẹ̀lú ìmọ̀ràn láti ọ̀dọ̀ ìyá rẹ̀, ó béèrè pé, “Fún mi ni orí Johanu onítẹ̀bọmi nínú àwopọ̀kọ́”.
9 And the King was sorie: neuerthelesse because of the othe, and them that sate with him at the table, he commanded it to be giuen her,
Inú ọba bàjẹ́ gidigidi, ṣùgbọ́n nítorí ìbúra rẹ̀ àti kí ojú má ba à tì í níwájú àwọn àlejò tó wà ba jẹ àsè, ó pàṣẹ pé kí wọ́n fún un gẹ́gẹ́ bí o ti fẹ́.
10 And sent, and beheaded Iohn in the prison.
Nítorí náà, a bẹ́ orí Johanu onítẹ̀bọmi nínú ilé túbú.
11 And his head was brought in a platter, and giuen to the maide, and shee brought it vnto her mother.
A sì gbé orí rẹ̀ jáde láti fi fún ọmọbìnrin náà nínú àwopọ̀kọ́, òun sì gbà á, ó gbé e tọ ìyá rẹ̀ lọ.
12 And his disciples came, and tooke vp the bodie, and buried it, and went, and tolde Iesus.
Lẹ́yìn náà, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn Johanu wá gba òkú rẹ̀, wọ́n sì sin ín. Wọ́n sì wá sọ ohun tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀ fún Jesu.
13 And when Iesus heard it, hee departed thence by shippe into a desert place apart. And when the multitude had heard it, they followed him on foote out of the cities.
Nígbà tí Jesu gbọ́ ìròyìn ìṣẹ̀lẹ̀ náà, ó kúrò níbẹ̀, ó bá ọkọ̀ ojú omi lọ sí ibi kọ́lọ́fín kan ní èbúté láti dá wà níbẹ̀. Nígbà tí wọ́n gbọ́ èyí, ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn sì fi ẹsẹ̀ rìn tẹ̀lé e láti ọ̀pọ̀ ìlú wọn.
14 And Iesus went foorth and sawe a great multitude, and was mooued with compassion toward them, and he healed their sicke.
Nígbà ti Jesu gúnlẹ̀, tí ó sì rí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ènìyàn, inú rẹ̀ yọ́ sí wọn, ó sì mú àwọn aláìsàn láradá.
15 And when euen was come, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desart place, and the time is alreadie past: let the multitude depart, that they may goe into the townes, and bye them vitailes.
Nígbà ti ilẹ̀ ń ṣú lọ, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ tọ̀ ọ́ wá, wọ́n sì wí pé, “Ibi yìí jìnnà sí ìlú ilẹ̀ sì ń ṣú lọ. Rán àwọn ènìyàn lọ sí àwọn ìletò kí wọ́n lè ra oúnjẹ jẹ.”
16 But Iesus saide to them, They haue no neede to goe away: giue yee them to eate.
Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu fèsì pé, “Kò nílò kí wọ́n lọ kúrò. Ẹ fún wọn ní oúnjẹ.”
17 Then saide they vnto him, Wee haue here but fiue loaues, and two fishes.
Wọ́n sì dalóhùn pé, “Àwa kò ní ju ìṣù àkàrà márùn-ún àti ẹja méjì lọ níhìn-ín.”
18 And he saide, Bring them hither to me.
Ó wí pé, “Ẹ mú wọn wá fún mi níhìn-ín yìí.”
19 And hee commanded the multitude to sit downe on the grasse, and tooke the fiue loaues and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen and blessed, and brake, and gaue the loaues to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
Lẹ́yìn náà, ó wí fún àwọn ènìyàn kí wọ́n jókòó lórí koríko. Lẹ́yìn náà, ó mú ìṣù àkàrà márùn-ún àti ẹja méjì. Ó gbé ojú rẹ̀ sí ọ̀run. Ó béèrè ìbùkún Ọlọ́run lórí oúnjẹ náà, Ó sì bù ú, ó sì fi àkàrà náà fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn láti pín in fún àwọn ènìyàn.
20 And they did all eate, and were sufficed, and they tooke vp of the fragments that remained, twelue baskets full.
Gbogbo wọn sì jẹ àjẹyó. Lẹ́yìn náà àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn kó àjẹkù jọ, ó kún agbọ̀n méjìlá.
21 And they that had eaten, were about fiue thousande men, beside women and litle children.
Iye àwọn ènìyàn ni ọjọ́ náà jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rún márùn-ún ọkùnrin, láìka àwọn obìnrin àti àwọn ọmọdé.
22 And straightway Iesus compelled his disciples to enter into a shippe, and to goe ouer before him, while he sent the multitude away.
Lẹ́sẹ̀kẹsẹ̀ lẹ́yìn èyí, Jesu wí fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ kí wọ́n bọ sínú ọkọ̀ wọn, àti kí wọ́n máa kọjá lọ ṣáájú rẹ̀ sí òdìkejì. Òun náà dúró lẹ́yìn láti tú àwọn ènìyàn ká lọ sí ilé wọn.
23 And assoone as hee had sent the multitude away, he went vp into a moutaine alone to pray: and when the euening was come, hee was there alone.
Lẹ́yìn tí ó tú ìjọ ènìyàn ká tán, ó gun orí òkè lọ fúnra rẹ̀ láti lọ gba àdúrà. Nígbà tí ilẹ̀ ṣú, òun wà nìkan níbẹ̀,
24 And the shippe was nowe in the middes of the sea, and was tossed with waues: for it was a contrarie winde.
ní àkókò yìí ọkọ̀ ojú omi náà ti rin jìnnà sí etí bèbè Òkun, tí ìjì omi ń tì í síwá sẹ́yìn, nítorí ìjì ṣe ọwọ́ òdì sí wọn.
25 And in the fourth watch of the night, Iesus went vnto them, walking on the sea.
Ní déédé ago mẹ́rin òwúrọ̀, Jesu tọ̀ wọ́n wá, ó ń rìn lórí omi.
26 And when his disciples sawe him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit, and cried out for feare.
Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rí i tí ó ń rìn lójú omi, ẹ̀rù ba wọn gidigidi, wọ́n rò pé “iwin ni,” wọ́n kígbe tìbẹ̀rù tìbẹ̀rù.
27 But straight way Iesus spake vnto them, saying, Be of good comfort, It is I: be not afraide.
Lójúkan náà, Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ mú ọkàn le! Èmi ni ẹ má ṣe bẹ̀rù.”
28 Then Peter answered him, and saide, Master, if it be thou, bid me come vnto thee on the water.
Peteru sì ké sí i pé, “Olúwa, bí ó bá jẹ́ pé ìwọ ni nítòótọ́, sọ pé kí n tọ̀ ọ́ wà lórí omi.”
29 And he saide, Come. And when Peter was come downe out of the shippe, he walked on the water, to goe to Iesus.
Jesu dá a lóhùn pé, “Ó dára, máa bọ̀ wá.” Nígbà náà ni Peteru sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti inú ọkọ̀. Ó ń rìn lórí omi lọ sí ìhà ọ̀dọ̀ Jesu.
30 But when he sawe a mightie winde, he was afraide: and as he began to sinke, he cried, saying, Master, saue me.
Nígbà tí ó rí afẹ́fẹ́ líle, ẹ̀rù bà á, ó sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í rì. Ó kígbe lóhùn rara pé, “Gbà mí, Olúwa.”
31 So immediatly Iesus stretched foorth his hande, and caught him, and saide to him, O thou of litle faith, wherefore diddest thou doubt?
Lójúkan náà, Jesu na ọwọ́ rẹ̀, ó dìímú, ó sì gbà á. Ó sì wí fún un pé, “Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi ṣiyèméjì ìwọ onígbàgbọ́ kékeré?”
32 And assoone as they were come into the ship, the winde ceased.
Àti pé, nígbà ti wọ́n sì gòkè sínú ọkọ̀, ìjì náà sì dúró jẹ́ẹ́.
33 Then they that were in the ship, came and worshipped him, saying, Of a trueth thou art the Sonne of God.
Nígbà náà ni àwọn to wà nínú ọkọ̀ náà foríbalẹ̀ fún un wọ́n wí pé, “Nítòótọ́ Ọmọ Ọlọ́run ni ìwọ í ṣe.”
34 And when they were come ouer, they came into the land of Gennezaret.
Nígbà tí wọn rékọjá sí apá kejì wọ́n gúnlẹ̀ sí Genesareti.
35 And when the men of that place knewe him, they sent out into all that countrey rounde about, and brought vnto him all that were sicke,
Nígbà tiwọn mọ̀ pé Jesu ni, wọn sì ránṣẹ́ sí gbogbo ìlú náà yíká. Wọ́n sì gbé gbogbo àwọn aláìsàn tọ̀ ọ́ wá.
36 And besought him, that they might touch the hemme of his garment onely: and as many as touched it, were made whole.
Àwọn aláìsàn bẹ̀ ẹ́ pé kí ó gba àwọn láyè láti fi ọwọ́ kan ìṣẹ́tí aṣọ rẹ̀, gbogbo àwọn tí ó ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ sì rí ìwòsàn.
