< Jeremiah 50 >
1 The word that the Lord spake, concerning Babel, and cocerning the land of the Caldeans by the ministerie of Ieremiah the Prophet.
Ko e folofola eni naʻe folofola ʻaki ʻe Sihova ki Papilone, pea mo e fonua ko Kalitia, ʻia Selemaia ko e palōfita.
2 Declare among the nations, and publish it, and set vp a standart, proclaime it and conceale it not: say, Babel is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken downe: her idols are confounded, and their images are burst in pieces.
“Fakahā ki he ngaahi puleʻanga, pea fakaʻilo, pea hiki hake ʻae fuka: fakaʻilo, pea ʻoua naʻa fakafufū: fakahā kuo kapa ʻa Papilone, kuo fakamaaʻi ʻa Peli, kuo maumauʻi ke lailai ʻa Melotaki; kuo fakamaaʻi ʻene ngaahi tamapua, kuo laiki ʻaupito hono ngaahi meʻa fakatātā.’
3 For out of the North there commeth vp a nation against her, which shall make her lande waste, and none shall dwel therein: they shall flee, and depart, both man and beast.
“He kuo haʻu kiate ia ʻae puleʻanga mei he tokelau, ʻaia te ne fakalala hono fonua, pea ʻe ʻikai nofo ki ai ha taha: te nau hiki, te nau ʻalu, ʻae tangata mo e manu fakatouʻosi.”
4 In those daies, and at that time, sayeth the Lord, the children of Israel shall come, they, and the children of Iudah together, going, and weeping shall they goe, and seeke the Lord their God.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “ʻI he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia, pea ʻi he kuonga ko ia, ʻe haʻu ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, ko kinautolu mo e fānau ʻa Siuta fakataha, te nau ʻalu mo e tangi: te nau ʻalu pea kumi kia Sihova ko honau ʻOtua.
5 They shall aske the way to Zion, with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let vs cleaue to the Lord in a perpetuall couenant that shall not be forgotten.
Te nau fehuʻi ki he hala ki Saione, pea fakahanga honau mata ki ai, ʻo pehē, ‘Haʻu ke tau fakataha ʻakitautolu kia Sihova ʻi he fuakava taʻengata ʻaia ʻe ʻikai fakangaloʻi.’
6 My people hath beene as lost sheepe: their shepheards haue caused them to goe astray, and haue turned them away to the mountaines: they haue gone from mountaine to hil, and forgotten their resting place.
“Ko hoku kakai ko e fanga sipi kuo mole: kuo fakahēʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe honau kau tauhi, kuo nau fakaafe ʻakinautolu ki he ngaahi moʻunga: kuo nau ʻalu mei he moʻunga ki he moʻunga, kuo nau fakangalongaloʻi ʻa honau mālōlōʻanga.
7 Al that found them, haue deuoured them, and their enemies saide, We offende not, because they haue sinned against the Lord, the habitation of iustice, euen the Lord the hope of their fathers.
Naʻe maumauʻi ʻakinautolu ʻekinautolu kotoa pē naʻe ʻiloʻi ʻakinautolu: pea naʻe pehē ʻe honau ngaahi fili, ‘ʻOku ʻikai te mau fai kovi, koeʻuhi kuo nau fai angahala kia Sihova, ko e nofoʻanga ʻoe angatonu, ʻio, kia Sihova, ko e ʻamanaki leleiʻanga ʻo ʻenau ngaahi tamai.’
8 Flee from the middes of Babel, and depart out of the lande of the Caldeans, and be ye as the hee goates before the flocke.
“Mou hiki ʻi Papilone, pea ʻalu ʻi he fonua ʻoe kau Kalitia, pea te mou hangē ko e fanga kosi tangata, ʻoku muʻomuʻa ʻi he fanga manu.
9 For loe, I will raise, and cause to come vp against Babel a multitude of mightie natios from the North countrey, and they shall set themselues in aray against her, whereby shee shall be taken: their arrowes shall be as of a strong man, which is expert, for none shall returne in vaine.
“Vakai, he te u langa pea ʻomi ki Papilone, ʻae fakataha ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga lahi mei he fonua tokelau: pea te nau teu tau kiate ia; pea te nau ʻave ia; ko ʻenau ngaahi ngahau ʻoku tatau mo e ngaahi ngahau ʻae tangata tau ʻoku poto; pea ʻe ʻikai foki taʻeʻaonga mai ha taha.
10 And Caldea shalbe a spoyle: all that spoyle her, shalbe satisfied, sayth the Lord.
Pea ʻe hoko ʻa Kalitia ko e papaniʻanga; pea ʻe fiemālie ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku papani mei ai,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
11 Because yee were glad and reioyced in destroying mine heritage, and because ye are growen fatte, as the calues in the grasse, and neied like strong horses,
“ʻAkimoutolu ʻae kau fakaʻauha ʻo hoku tofiʻa, koeʻuhi kuo mou nekeneka, pea kuo mou fiefia, koeʻuhi ʻoku mou sino ʻo hangē ko e manu mui ʻoku kai mohuku, pea tangi ʻo hangē ko e fanga hoosi mālohi;
12 Therefore your mother shall bee sore confounded, and she that bare you, shall be ashamed: beholde, the vttermost of the nations shalbe a desert, a drie land, and a wildernes.
ʻE puputuʻu lahi ʻa hoʻomou faʻē; ʻe mā lahi ʻaia naʻe fanauʻi ʻakimoutolu: vakai, te ke hoko ko e kimui ʻi he ngaahi puleʻanga, ko e potu lala, ko e fonua mōmoa, pea ko e toafa.
13 Because of the wrath of the Lord it shall not be inhabited, but shall be wholy desolate: euery one that goeth by Babel, shall be astonished, and hisse at all her plagues.
ʻE ʻikai fakakakai ia koeʻuhi ko e houhau ʻo Sihova, ka ʻe fakalala ʻaupito ia: ʻe ofo ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku ʻalu ʻi Papilone, pea fakaʻiseʻisa koeʻuhi ko hono ngaahi tautea.
14 Put your selues in aray against Babel rounde about: all ye that bende the bowe, shoote at her, spare no arrowes: for shee hath sinned against the Lord.
Mou teu tau ki Papilone ʻo kāpui ia: ko kimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku faʻa teke ʻae kaufana, fanaʻi ia, pea ʻoua naʻa taʻofi ʻae ngaahi ngahau: koeʻuhi kuo ne fai angahala kia Sihova.
15 Crie against her round about: she hath giuen her hand: her foundations are fallen, and her walles are destroyed: for it is the vengeance of the Lord: take vengeance vpon her: as she hath done, doe vnto her.
Kalanga ʻakimoutolu ʻoku takatakai ia: kuo ne tuku mai hono nima: kuo hinga hono ngaahi tuʻunga, kuo holoki hifo hono ngaahi ʻā: koeʻuhi ko e houhau ia ʻo Sihova: mou totongi kiate ia; fai kiate ia, ʻo hangē ko ʻene fai ʻe ia.
16 Destroy the sower from Babel, and him that handleth the sieth in the time of haruest: because of the sworde of the oppressor they shall turne euery one to his people, and they shall flee euery one to his owne land.
Tuʻusi ʻae tangata tūtuuʻi mei Papilone, pea mo ia ʻoku ala ki he hele tuʻusi ʻi he ututaʻu: he ko e manavahē ki he heletā ʻoe fakaʻauha, te nau taki taha afe ai ki hono kakai, pea te nau taki taha hola ki hono fonua.
17 Israel is like scattered sheepe: the lions haue dispersed them: first the King of Asshur hath deuoured him, and last this Nebuchad-nezzar King, of Babel hath broken his bones.
“Ko e sipi hē ʻa ʻIsileli; kuo fakahēʻi ia ʻe he fanga laione: kuo tomuʻa keina ia ʻe he tuʻi ʻo ʻAsilia; pea muimui ʻa Nepukanesa ni ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone kuo ne fesiʻi hono ngaahi hui.
18 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, Behold, I wil visit ye King of Babel, and his land, as I haue visited the King of Asshur.
Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; Vakai, te u tautea ʻae tuʻi ʻo Papilone pea mo hono fonua, ʻo hangē ko ʻeku tautea ʻae tuʻi ʻo ʻAsilia.
19 And I will bring Israel againe to his habitation: hee shall feede on Carmel and Bashan, and his soule shall be satisfied vpon the mount Ephraim and Gilead.
Pea te u toe ʻomi ʻa ʻIsileli ki hono nofoʻanga, pea ʻe fafanga ia ʻi Kameli mo Pesani, pea ʻe mākona hono laumālie ʻi he moʻunga ko ʻIfalemi mo Kiliati.”
20 In those daies, and at that time, sayeth the Lord, the iniquitie of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none: and the sinnes of Iudah, and they shall not be founde: for I will be mercifull vnto them, whome I reserue.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “ʻI he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia, pea ʻi he kuonga ko ia ʻe kumi ki ha angahala ʻa ʻIsileli, ka ʻe ʻikai ʻilo ia; pea mo e angahala ʻa Siuta, ka ʻe ʻikai ʻiloa: he te u fakamolemole ʻakinautolu ʻaia kuo u fakatoe.
21 Goe vp against the lande of the rebelles, euen against it, and against the inhabitantes of Pekod: destroy, and lay it waste after them, saieth the Lord, and doe according to all that I haue commanded thee.
“ʻAlu hake ki he fonua ʻoe kau angatonu, te u tau kiate ia, mo e kakai ʻo Pikote:” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Ngaohi ke lala mo fakaʻauha ʻa honau hako, pea fai ʻo hangē ko e meʻa kotoa pē kuo u fekau kiate koe.
22 A crie of battell is in the land, and of great destruction.
ʻOku ai ʻae longolongo tau ʻi he fonua, pea mo e fakaʻauha lahi.
23 Howe is the hammer of the whole world destroied, and broken! howe is Babel become desolate among the nations!
Hono ʻikai tuʻusi mo maumauʻi ʻae hamala ʻo māmani kotoa pē! Hono ʻikai hoko ʻa Papilone ko e meʻa fakaofo ʻi he ngaahi puleʻanga!
24 I haue snared thee, and thou art taken, O Babel, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striuen against the Lord.
ʻE Papilone kuo u ʻai ʻae tauhele kiate koe, pea kuo ke moʻua foki, pea naʻe ʻikai te ke ʻilo: kuo ʻilo koe, pea kuo maʻu koe foki, koeʻuhi kuo ke angatuʻu kia Sihova.
25 The Lord hath opened his treasure, and hath brought foorth the weapons of his wrath: for this is the woorke of the Lord God of hostes in the lande of the Caldeans.
Kuo fakaava ʻe Sihova hono fale mahafutau, pea kuo ʻomi mei ai ʻae ngaahi mahafu ʻo hono houhau: he ko e ngāue eni ʻa Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻi he fonua ʻoe kau Kalitia.
26 Come against her from the vtmost border: open her store houses: treade on her as on sheaues, and destroy her vtterly: let nothing of her be left.
Haʻu kiate ia mei he ngaahi potu mamaʻo, fakaava ʻa hono ngaahi feleoko: pea laku hake ia ke hangē ko e ngaahi tafungofunga, pea fakaʻauha ia; ʻoua naʻa fakatoe ha meʻa siʻi kiate ia.
27 Destroy all her bullockes: let them goe downe to the slaughter. Wo vnto them, for their day is come, and the time of their visitation.
Tāmateʻi ʻene fanga pulu kotoa pē, tuku ke nau ʻalu hifo ki he tāmateʻi: ʻe malaʻia ʻakinautolu! He kuo hokosia honau ʻaho, ko e kuonga ʻo honau ʻaʻahi.”
28 The voyce of them that flee, and escape out of the lande of Babel to declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, and the vengeance of his Temple.
Ko e leʻo ʻokinautolu ʻoku hola pea hao mei he fonua ʻo Papilone, ke fakahā ʻi Saione ʻae houhau ʻo Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua, ko e totongi koeʻuhi ko hono fale tapu.
29 Call vp the archers against Babel: al ye that bend the bow, besiege it rounde about: let none thereof escape: recompence her according to her worke, and according to all that she hath done, doe vnto her: for she hath bene proud against the Lord, euen against the holy one of Israel.
“Ui ke fakataha ʻae kau tangata fakakaufana ki Papilone: ko kimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku teke ʻae kaufana, mou nofo takatakai ki ai; ke ʻoua naʻa hao ha taha mei ai: totongi kiate ia ʻo hangē ko ʻene ngāue; fai kiate ia ʻo hangē ko e meʻa kotoa pē kuo ne fai, koeʻuhi kuo ne fielahi kia Sihova, ki he tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli.
30 Therefore shall her yong men fall in the streetes, and al her men of warre shalbe destroied in that day, sayeth the Lord.
Ko ia ʻe tō ai ʻa hono kau talavou ʻi he hala, pea ʻe tuʻusi ʻa hono kau tangata tau ʻi he ʻaho ko ia,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
31 Beholde, I come vnto thee, O proude man, saith the Lord God of hostes: for thy day is come, euen the time that I will visite thee.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Vakai ʻoku ou fili ʻaki koe, ʻa koe ko e fielahi, he kuo hokosia mai ho ʻaho, pea mo e kuonga te u ʻaʻahi ai kiate koe.
32 And the proude shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him vp: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall deuoure all round about him.
33 Thus saieth the Lord of hosts, The children of Israel, and the children of Iudah were oppressed together: and all that tooke them captiues, held them, and would not let them goe.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau; “Naʻe taʻomia fakataha ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli pea mo e fānau ʻa Siuta: pea kuku maʻu ʻekinautolu kotoa pē naʻe ʻave pōpula ʻakinautolu; pea naʻe ʻikai te nau loto ke tukuange ʻakinautolu.
34 But their strong redeemer, whose Name is the Lord of hostes, he shall maintaine their cause, that he may giue rest to the lande, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babel.
ʻOku mālohi ʻa honau Huhuʻi; ko hono huafa ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau: te ne langomakiʻi ʻaupito ʻakinautolu, koeʻuhi ke ne foaki ʻae fiemālie ki he fonua, pea mo e maveuveu ki he kakai ʻo Papilone.
35 A sworde is vpon the Caldeans, sayeth the Lord, and vpon the inhabitants of Babel, and vpon her princes, and vpon her wise men.
“ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻE hoko ʻae heletā ki he kau Kalitia, mo e kakai ʻo Papilone, mo e houʻeiki, pea mo hono kau tangata poto.
36 A sworde is vpon the soothsaiers, and they shall dote: a sword is vpon her strong men, and they shalbe afraide.
Pea ʻe hoko ʻae heletā ki he kau kākā; pea te nau loto vale: pea ʻe hoko ʻae heletā ki hono kau mālohi; pea te nau manavahē.
37 A sworde is vpon their horses and vpon their charets, and vpon all the multitude that are in the middes of her, and they shall be like women: a sworde is vpon her treasures, and they shall be spoyled.
Pea ʻe hoko ʻae heletā ki heʻenau fanga hoosi, mo ʻenau ngaahi saliote, mo e kakai kehekehe ʻoku ʻiate ia pea te nau liliu ʻo hangē ko e kau fefine: ʻe hoko ʻae heletā ki heʻene koloa; pea ʻe kaihaʻasia ʻakinautolu.
38 A drought is vpon her waters, and they shall be dried vp: for it is the lande of grauen images, and they dote vpon their idoles.
ʻE laʻāina ʻa hono ngaahi vai; pea te nau maha: he ko e fonua ia ʻoe meʻa fakatātā kuo tā, pea ʻoku nau vikiviki ʻi he ngaahi tamapua.
39 Therefore the Ziims with the Iims shall dwel there, and the ostriches shall dwel therein: for it shall be no more inhabited, neither shall it be inhabited from generation vnto generation.
Ko ia ʻe nofo ai ʻae fanga manu hehengi ʻoe toafa, pea mo e fanga manu hehengi ʻoe ngaahi motu, pea ʻe nofo ai ʻae fanga lulu; pea ʻe ʻikai fakakakai ia ʻo taʻengata; pea ʻe ʻikai ha toe nofo ʻe fai ai mei he toʻutangata ki he toʻutangata.
40 As God destroied Sodom and Gomorah with the places thereof neere about, sayeth the Lord: so shall no man dwell theere, neither shall the sonne of man remaine therein.
41 Beholde, a people shall come from the North, and a great nation, and many Kings shall be raised vp from the coastes of the earth.
“Vakai, ʻe haʻu ʻae kakai mei he tokelau, ko e puleʻanga lahi, pea ʻe tuʻu hake ʻae ngaahi tuʻi mei he ngaahi fonua mamaʻo.
42 They shall holde the bowe and the buckeler: they are cruell and vnmercifull: their voyce shall roare like the sea, and they shall ride vpon horses, and be put in aray like men to the battell against thee, O daughter of Babel.
43 The King of Babel hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: sorow came vpon him, euen sorowe as of a woman in trauaile.
Naʻe fanongo ki heʻenau ongoongo ʻe he tuʻi ʻo Papilone, pea kuo hoko ʻo vaivai hono nima: pea kuo maʻu ia ʻe he mamahi, mo e feinga ʻo hangē ko e fefine ʻoku langā.
44 Beholde, hee shall come vp like a lyon from the swelling of Iorden vnto the strong habitation: for I will make Israel to rest, and I will make them to haste away from her: and who is a chosen man that I may appoynt against her? for who is like me, and who will appoynt me the time? and who is the shepheard that will stande before me?
Vakai te ne ʻalu hake ʻo hangē ko e laione, mei he fonu mahakehake ʻo Sioatani ki he nofoʻanga ʻoe mālohi: ka te u pule ke nau hola fakafokifā meiate ia: pea ko hai ha tangata kuo fili koeʻuhi ke u tuʻutuʻuni ke puleʻi ia? He ko hai ʻoku tatau mo au? Pea ko hai te ne akonakiʻi au? Pea ko hai ʻae tauhi ko ia ke ne tuʻu ʻi hoku ʻao?”
45 Therefore heare the counsell of the Lord that hee hath deuised against Babel, and his purpose that hee hath conceiued against the lande of the Caldeans: surely the least of the flocke shall drawe them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.
Ko ia mou fanongo ki he fakakaukau ʻa Sihova, ʻaia kuo ne tuʻutuʻuni ki Papilone; pea mo e tuʻutuʻuni, kuo ne tuʻutuʻuni ki he kakai ʻo Kalitia: ko e moʻoni ʻe ʻave ʻakinautolu ʻe he siʻi hifo: ko e moʻoni te ne ngaohi honau nofoʻanga ko e potu liʻaki ʻiate kinautolu.
46 At the noyse of the winning of Babel the earth is moued, and the crye is heard among the nations.
ʻOku ngalulu ʻae kelekele ʻi he longoaʻa ʻoe kapa ʻo Papilone, pea ʻe ongo atu ʻene tangi ki he kakai kotoa pē.”
