Jeremiah 11

1 The worde that came to Ieremiah from the Lord, saying,

TUHAN berkata kepadaku,

2 Heare ye the wordes of this couenant, and speake vnto the men of Iudah, and to the inhabitants of Ierusalem,

"Perhatikanlah syarat-syarat perjanjian yang Kubuat dengan umat-Ku. Beritahukanlah kepada orang Yehuda dan penduduk Yerusalem bahwa

3 And say thou vnto them, Thus sayeth the Lord God of Israel, Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the wordes of this couenant,

Aku, TUHAN Allah Israel, mengutuk siapa saja yang tidak mentaati syarat-syarat perjanjian-Ku itu.

4 Which I commanded vnto your fathers, when I brought them out of the lande of Egypt, from the yron fornace, saying, Obey my voyce, and doe according to all these things, which I commande you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God,

Perjanjian itu telah Kubuat dengan leluhur mereka ketika mereka Kubawa keluar dari Mesir, negeri yang seperti neraka bagi mereka. Aku menyuruh mereka taat kepada-Ku dan melakukan segala yang telah Kuperintahkan. Sekarang sudah Kukatakan juga kepada orang Yehuda dan penduduk Yerusalem bahwa jika mereka taat kepada-Ku, mereka akan menjadi umat-Ku dan Aku Allah mereka. (questioned)

5 That I may confirme the othe, that I haue sworne vnto your fathers, to giue them a lande, which floweth with milke and hony, as appeareth this day. Then answered I and sayde, So be it, O Lord.

Kalau mereka melakukan semuanya itu, Aku akan menepati janji-Ku kepada leluhur mereka bahwa negeri yang subur dan makmur, yang sekarang mereka tempati itu, akan Kuberikan kepada mereka." Aku menjawab, "Baik, TUHAN."

6 Then the Lord saide vnto me, Cry all these words in the cities of Iudah, and in the streetes of Ierusalem, saying, Heare yee the words of this couenant, and doe them.

Lalu TUHAN berkata kepadaku, "Pergilah ke kota-kota di Yehuda, dan ke jalan-jalan di Yerusalem. Sampaikanlah pesan-Ku ini kepada orang-orang di sana. Suruh mereka memperhatikan dan mentaati syarat-syarat perjanjian-Ku.

7 For I haue protested vnto your fathers, whe I brought them vp out of the land of Egypt vnto this day, rising earely and protesting, saying, Obey my voyce.

Ketika Aku membawa leluhur mereka keluar dari Mesir, dengan tegas Aku memperingatkan mereka supaya taat kepada-Ku. Sampai hari ini pun Aku masih terus memperingatkan umat-Ku mengenai hal itu,

8 Neuerthelesse they would not obey, nor encline their eare: but euery one walked in the stubbernesse of his wicked heart: therefore I will bring vpon them all the wordes of this couenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did it not.

dan menyuruh mereka mentaati perjanjian-Ku itu, tetapi mereka tidak mau mendengarkan dan tak mau taat. Malahan mereka tetap keras kepala dan jahat seperti dahulu. Karena itu segala hukuman yang tercantum dalam perjanjian itu telah Kutimpakan ke atas mereka."

9 And the Lord sayd vnto me, A conspiracie is found among the men of Iudah, and among the inhabitants of Ierusalem.

Kemudian TUHAN berkata lagi kepadaku, "Orang Yehuda dan penduduk Yerusalem telah bersepakat melawan Aku.

10 They are turned backe to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to heare my wordes: and they went after other gods to serue them: thus the house of Israel, and the house of Iudah haue broken my couenant, which I made with their fathers.

Mereka telah melakukan dosa yang dilakukan oleh leluhur mereka yang tidak mau taat kepada-Ku, mereka menyembah ilah-ilah lain dan tidak mau menuruti perintah-Ku. Baik Israel maupun Yehuda melanggar perjanjian yang telah Kubuat dengan leluhur mereka.

11 Therefore thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, I will bring a plague vpon them, which they shall not be able to escape, and though they crye vnto me, I will not heare them.

Karena itu, Aku, TUHAN, memperingatkan bahwa Aku akan mendatangkan malapetaka ke atas mereka dan mereka tak dapat menghindarinya. Jika mereka berseru minta tolong kepada-Ku, Aku tidak mau mendengarkan.

12 Then shall the cities of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem goe, and crie vnto the gods vnto whome they offer incense, but they shall not bee able to helpe them in time of their trouble.

Lalu orang Yehuda dan penduduk Yerusalem pergi minta tolong kepada ilah-ilah lain yang mereka puja dengan persembahan kurban. Ilah-ilah itu tidak akan mampu menyelamatkan mereka pada waktu malapetaka itu datang.

13 For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Iudah, and according to the number of the streetes of Ierusalem haue yee set vp altars of confusion, euen altars to burne incense vnto Baal.

Ilah-ilah orang Yehuda banyak sekali, sebanyak kota-kota mereka. Penduduk Yerusalem mendirikan mezbah-mezbah sebanyak jalan-jalan di kota Yerusalem untuk mempersembahkan kurban kepada Dewa Baal.

14 Therfore thou shalt not pray for this people, neither lift vp a crie, or prayer for them: for when they cry vnto mee in their trouble, I will not heare them.

Karena itu, Yeremia, janganlah berdoa untuk mereka atau minta tolong kepada-Ku untuk mereka! Kalau mereka dalam kesukaran dan minta tolong kepada-Ku, Aku tidak akan mau mendengarkan mereka."

15 What shoulde my beloued tarie in mine house, seeing they haue committed abomination with manie? and the holy flesh goeth away from thee: yet when thou doest euill, thou reioycest.

TUHAN berkata, "Umat-Ku yang Kukasihi telah melakukan hal-hal yang jahat. Mereka tidak berhak berada di Rumah-Ku. Mereka menyangka bahwa dengan membuat janji-janji, dan dengan mempersembahkan binatang, mereka dapat mencegah malapetaka. Apakah dengan itu mereka bisa senang?

16 The Lord called thy name, A greene oliue tree, faire, and of goodly fruite: but with noyse and great tumult he hath set fyre vpon it, and the branches of it are broken.

Pernah Aku menamakan mereka pohon zaitun rindang, penuh buah-buahan yang bagus. Tetapi, sekarang dengan suara gemuruh yang hebat akan Kubakar daun-daunnya dan Kupatahkan semua rantingnya.

17 For the Lord of hostes that planted thee, hath pronounced a plague against thee, for the wickednes of the house of Israel, and of the house of Iudah, which they haue done against themselues to prouoke me to anger in offering incense vnto Baal.

Akulah yang mendirikan Israel dan Yehuda, Aku, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa. Tapi, sekarang Aku sudah merencanakan untuk mendatangkan malapetaka ke atas mereka. Mereka sendirilah yang menyebabkan semuanya itu, karena mereka telah melakukan kejahatan, yaitu mempersembahkan kurban kepada Baal sehingga Aku marah."

18 And the Lord hath taught me, and I knowe it, euen then thou shewedst mee their practises.

TUHAN memberitahukan kepadaku tentang rencana jahat musuh-musuhku terhadapku.

19 But I was like a lambe, or a bullocke, that is brought to the slaughter, and I knewe not that they had deuised thus against me, saying, Let vs destroy the tree with the fruite thereof, and cut him out of the lande of the liuing, that his name may be no more in memory.

Aku seperti domba yang tanpa curiga dibawa ke tempat pembantaian. Aku tidak tahu bahwa akulah yang menjadi sasaran rencana-rencana jahat mereka. Mereka berkata, "Mari kita tebang pohon ini sementara ia masih dapat menghasilkan buah; kita musnahkan dia supaya namanya dilupakan orang."

20 But O Lord of hostes, that iudgest righteously, and triest the reines and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for vnto thee haue I opened my cause.

Lalu aku berdoa, "Ya TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Engkau hakim yang adil; Engkaulah yang menguji pikiran dan hati orang. Perkaraku ini kuserahkan kepada-Mu. Semoga aku dapat menyaksikan Engkau membalas perbuatan orang-orang itu."

21 The Lord therefore speaketh thus of the men of Anathoth, (that seeke thy life, and say, Prophecie not in the Name of the Lord, that thou die not by our hands)

Orang-orang kota Anatot ingin supaya aku mati. Mereka berkata, "Kalau engkau terus saja menyampaikan pesan-pesan TUHAN kepada kami, engkau akan kami bunuh."

22 Thus therefore sayth the Lord of hostes, Beholde, I will visite them: the yong men shall die by the sword: their sonnes and their daughters shall die by famine,

Karena itu, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa berkata, "Aku akan menghukum mereka! Orang-orang muda mereka akan tewas dalam pertempuran, anak-anak mereka akan mati kelaparan.

23 And none of them shall remaine: for I will bring a plague vpon the men of Anathoth, euen the yeere of their visitation.

Aku sudah menentukan waktunya untuk mendatangkan malapetaka ke atas orang-orang Anatot, dan jika waktu hukuman mereka itu tiba, tak seorang pun akan luput."
