Isaiah 45
1 Thus sayeth the Lord vnto Cyrus his anointed, whose right hand I haue holden to subdue nations before him: therefore will I weaken the loynes of Kings and open the doores before him, and the gates shall not be shut:
Ainsi a dit l'Eternel à son Oint, à Cyrus, duquel j'ai pris la main droite, afin que je terrasse les nations devant lui, et que je délie les reins des Rois; afin qu'on ouvre devant lui les portes, et que les portes ne soient point fermées.
2 I will goe before thee and make the crooked streight: I will breake the brasen doores, and burst the yron barres.
J'irai devant toi, et je dresserai les chemins tortus; je romprai les portes d'airain, et je mettrai en pièces les barres de fer.
3 And I will giue thee the treasures of darkenesse, and the things hid in secret places, that thou maist know that I am the Lord which call thee by thy name, euen the God of Israel.
Et je te donnerai les trésors cachés, et les richesses le plus secrètement gardées, afin que tu saches que je suis l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, qui t'appelle par ton Nom;
4 For Iaakob my seruants sake, and Israel mine elect, I will euen call thee by thy name and name thee, though thou hast not knowen me.
Pour l'amour de Jacob mon serviteur, et d'Israël mon élu; je t'ai, dis-je, appelé par ton nom, et je t'ai surnommé, bien que tu ne me connusses point.
5 I am the Lord and there is none other: there is no God besides me: I girded thee though thou hast not knowen me,
Je suis l'Eternel, et il n'y en a point d'autre; il n'y a point de Dieu que moi. Je t'ai ceint, quoique tu ne me connusses point.
6 That they may knowe from the rising of the sunne and from the West, that there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is none other.
Afin qu'on connaisse depuis le soleil levant, et depuis le soleil couchant, qu'il n'y a point d'autre [Dieu] que moi. Je suis l'Eternel, et il n'y en a point d'autre:
7 I forme the light and create darkenes: I make peace and create euill: I the Lord doe all these things.
Qui forme la lumière, et qui crée les ténèbres; qui fais la paix, et qui crée l'adversité; c'est moi l'Eternel qui fais toutes ces choses.
8 Ye heauens, send the dewe from aboue, and let the cloudes droppe downe righteousnesse: let the earth open, and let saluation and iustice growe foorth: let it bring them foorth together: I the Lord haue created him.
O cieux! envoyez la rosée d'en haut, et que les nuées fassent distiller la justice; que la terre s'ouvre, qu'elle produise le salut, et que la justice germe ensemble! moi l'Eternel j'ai créé cela.
9 Woe be vnto him that striueth with his maker, the potsherd with the potsherds of the earth: shall the clay say to him that facioneth it, What makest thou? or thy worke, It hath none hands?
Malheur à celui qui plaide contre celui qui l'a formé. Que le pot plaide contre les autres pots de terre; [mais] l'argile dira-t-elle à celui qui l'a formée; que fais-tu? et tu n'as point d'adresse pour ton ouvrage.
10 Woe vnto him that sayeth to his father, What hast thou begotten? or to his mother, What hast thou brought foorth?
Malheur à celui qui dit à son père; pourquoi engendres-tu? et à sa mère; pourquoi enfantes-tu?
11 Thus saith the Lord, the holy one of Israel, and his maker, Aske me of things to come concerning my sonnes, and concerning the workes of mine hands: commande you me.
Ainsi a dit l'Eternel, le Saint d'Israël, qui est son Créateur; ils m'ont interrogé touchant les choses à venir; et me donneriez-vous la Loi touchant mes fils, et touchant l'œuvre de mes mains?
12 I haue made the earth, and created man vpon it: I, whose hands haue spred out the heauens, I haue euen commanded all their armie.
C'est moi qui ai fait la terre, et qui ai créé l'homme sur elle; c'est moi qui ai étendu les cieux de mes mains, et qui ai donné la loi à toute leur armée.
13 I haue raised him vp in righteousnesse, and I will direct all his wayes: he shall build my citie, and he shall let goe my captiues, not for price nor rewarde, saith the Lord of hostes.
C'est moi qui ai suscité celui-ci en justice, et j'adresserai tous ses desseins, il rebâtira ma ville, et renverra sans rançon et sans présents mon peuple qui aura été transporté, a dit l'Eternel des armées.
14 Thus sayth the Lord, The labour of Egypt, and the marchandise of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature shall come vnto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall follow thee, and shall goe in chaines: they shall fall downe before thee, and make supplication vnto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee, and there is none other God besides.
Ainsi a dit l'Eternel; le travail de l'Egypte, et le trafic de Chus, et les Sabéens, gens de grande stature, passeront vers toi, [Jérusalem], et ils seront à toi, ils marcheront après toi, ils passeront enchaînés, et se prosterneront devant toi, ils te feront leurs supplications, [et te diront]; certes le [Dieu] Fort est au milieu de toi, et il n'y a point d'autre Dieu que lui.
15 Verely thou, O God, hidest thy selfe, O God, the Sauiour of Israel.
Certainement tu es le [Dieu] Fort qui te caches, le Dieu d'Israël, le Sauveur.
16 All they shalbe ashamed and also confounded: they shall goe to confusion together, that are the makers of images.
Eux tous ont été honteux et confus; les ouvriers d'images s'en sont allés ensemble avec honte.
17 But Israel shall be saued in the Lord, with an euerlasting saluation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded worlde without ende.
[Mais] Israël a été sauvé par l'Eternel, d'un salut éternel; vous ne serez point honteux, et vous ne serez point confus à jamais.
18 For thus saith the Lord (that created heauen, God himselfe, that formed the earth, and made it: he that prepared it, he created it not in vaine: he formed it to be inhabited) I am the Lord, and there is none other.
Car ainsi a dit l'Eternel qui a créé les cieux, lui qui est le Dieu qui a formé la terre, et qui l'a faite, lui qui l'a affermie; il ne l'a point créée pour être une chose vide, [mais] il l'a formée pour être habitée. Je suis l'Eternel, et il n'y en a point d'autre.
19 I haue not spoken in secrete, neither in a place of darkenes in the earth: I saide not in vaine vnto the seede of Iaakob, Seeke you me: I the Lord doe speake righteousnesse, and declare righteous things.
Je n'ai point parlé en secret, ni en quelque lieu ténébreux de la terre; je n'ai point dit à la postérité de Jacob; cherchez-moi en vain. Je suis l'Eternel, proférant la justice, déclarant les choses droites.
20 Assemble your selues, and come: drawe neere together, ye abiect of the Gentiles: they haue no knowledge, that set vp the wood of their idole, and pray vnto a god, that cannot saue them.
Assemblez-vous, et venez, approchez-vous ensemble, vous les réchappés d'entre les nations. Ceux qui portent le bois de leur image taillée ne savent rien, ni ceux qui font requête à un Dieu qui ne délivre point.
21 Tell ye and bring them, and let them take counsell together, who hath declared this from the beginning? or hath tolde it of olde? Haue not I the Lord? and there is none other God beside me, a iust God, and a Sauiour: there is none beside me.
Déclarez, et faites approcher, et même qu'on consulte ensemble; qui est-ce qui a fait entendre une telle chose dès longtemps auparavant? qui l'a déclarée dès lors? n'est-ce pas moi l'Eternel? or il n'y a point d'autre Dieu que moi; il n'y a point de [Dieu] Fort, Juste et Sauveur, que moi.
22 Looke vnto me, and ye shall be saued: all the endes of the earth shall be saued: for I am God, and there is none other.
Vous tous les bouts de la terre, regardez vers moi, et soyez sauvés; car je suis le [Dieu] Fort, et il n'y en a point d'autre.
23 I haue sworne by my selfe: the worde is gone out of my mouth in righteousnesse, and shall not returne, That euery knee shall bowe vnto me, and euery tongue shall sweare by me.
J'ai juré par moi-même, et la parole est sortie en justice de ma bouche, et elle ne sera point révoquée, que tout genou se pliera devant moi, et que toute langue jurera [par moi].
24 Surely he shall say, In the Lord haue I righteousnesse and strength: he shall come vnto him, and all that prouoke him, shall be ashamed.
Certainement on dira de moi; La justice et la force est en l'Eternel; mais quiconque viendra contre lui, sera honteux, et tous ceux qui seront indignés contre lui.
25 The whole seede of Israel shall be iustified, and glorie in the Lord.
Toute la postérité d'Israël sera justifiée, et elle se glorifiera en l'Eternel.
