Genesis 47
1 Then came Ioseph and tolde Pharaoh, and sayde, My father, and my brethren, and their sheepe, and their cattell, and all that they haue, are come out of the land of Canaan, and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
Et Joseph entra, et rapporta au Pharaon, et dit: Mon père et mes frères, et leur menu et leur gros bétail, et tout ce qui est à eux, sont venus du pays de Canaan; et voici, ils sont dans le pays de Goshen.
2 And Ioseph tooke part of his brethren, euen fiue men, and presented them vnto Pharaoh.
Et, d’entre ses frères, il prit cinq hommes, et les présenta au Pharaon.
3 Then Pharaoh said vnto his brethren, What is your trade? And they answered Pharaoh, Thy seruants are shepheards, both we and our fathers.
Et le Pharaon dit à ses frères: Quelle est votre occupation? Et ils dirent au Pharaon: Tes serviteurs sont bergers, tant nous que nos pères.
4 They sayde moreouer vnto Pharaoh, For to soiourne in ye lande are we come: for thy seruants haue no pasture for their sheepe, so sore is ye famine in the lande of Canaan. Nowe therefore, we pray thee, let thy seruants dwel in the land of Goshen.
Et ils dirent au Pharaon: Nous sommes venus pour séjourner dans le pays, parce qu’il n’y a point de pâture pour le bétail de tes serviteurs, car la famine pèse sur le pays de Canaan; et maintenant, que tes serviteurs, nous t’en prions, habitent dans le pays de Goshen.
5 Then spake Pharaoh to Ioseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come vnto thee.
Et le Pharaon parla à Joseph, disant: Ton père et tes frères sont venus vers toi.
6 The lande of Egypt is before thee: in the best place of the land make thy father and thy brethren dwel: let the dwel in the land of Goshen: and if thou knowest that there be men of actiuitie among them, make them rulers ouer my cattell.
Le pays d’Égypte est devant toi; fais habiter ton père et tes frères dans la meilleure partie du pays: qu’ils demeurent dans le pays de Goshen; et si tu connais qu’il y ait parmi eux des hommes capables, tu les établiras chefs des troupeaux qui sont à moi.
7 Ioseph also brought Iaakob his father, and set him before Pharaoh. And Iaakob saluted Pharaoh.
Et Joseph fit entrer Jacob, son père, et le fit se tenir devant le Pharaon; et Jacob bénit le Pharaon.
8 Then Pharaoh sayde vnto Iaakob, Howe olde art thou?
Et le Pharaon dit à Jacob: Combien sont les jours des années de ta vie?
9 And Iaakob sayd vnto Pharaoh, The whole time of my pilgrimage is an hundreth and thirty yeeres: fewe and euill haue the dayes of my life bene, and I haue not attayned vnto the yeeres of the life of my fathers, in the dayes of their pilgrimages.
Et Jacob dit au Pharaon: Les jours des années de mon séjournement sont 130 ans; les jours des années de ma vie ont été courts et mauvais, et ils n’ont pas atteint les jours des années de la vie de mes pères, dans les jours de leur séjournement.
10 And Iaakob tooke leaue of Pharaoh, and departed from the presence of Pharaoh.
Et Jacob bénit le Pharaon, et sortit de devant le Pharaon.
11 And Ioseph placed his father, and his brethren, and gaue them possession in the lande of Egypt, in the best of the land, euen in the lande of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
Et Joseph assigna une demeure à son père et à ses frères, et leur donna une possession dans le pays d’Égypte, dans la meilleure partie du pays, dans le pays de Ramsès, comme le Pharaon l’avait commandé.
12 And Ioseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his fathers houshold with bread, euen to the yong children.
Et Joseph fournit de pain son père et ses frères, et toute la maison de son père, selon le nombre des enfants.
13 Now there was no bread in all the land: for the famine was exceeding sore: so that the land of Egypt, and the land of Canaan were famished by reason of the famine.
Et il n’y avait pas de pain dans tout le pays, car la famine était très intense; et le pays d’Égypte et le pays de Canaan étaient épuisés à cause de la famine.
14 And Ioseph gathered all the money, that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corne which they bought, and Ioseph layd vp the money in Pharaohs house.
Et Joseph recueillit tout l’argent qui se trouva dans le pays d’Égypte et dans le pays de Canaan, pour le blé qu’on achetait; et Joseph fit entrer l’argent dans la maison du Pharaon.
15 So when money fayled in the lande of Egypt, and in the lande of Canaan, then all the Egyptians came vnto Ioseph, and sayde, Giue vs bread: for why should we dye before thee? for our money is spent.
Et quand l’argent du pays d’Égypte et du pays de Canaan fut épuisé, tous les Égyptiens vinrent à Joseph, disant: Donne-nous du pain; et pourquoi mourrions-nous devant toi, car l’argent manque?
16 Then saide Ioseph, Bring your cattell, and I will giue you for your cattell, if your money be spent.
Et Joseph dit: Donnez votre bétail, et je vous donnerai [du pain] contre votre bétail, si l’argent vous manque.
17 So they brought their cattell vnto Ioseph, and Ioseph gaue them bread for the horses, and for the flockes of sheepe, and for the heards of cattel, and for the asses: so he fed them with bread for all their cattell that yeere.
Et ils amenèrent leur bétail à Joseph; et Joseph leur donna du pain contre des chevaux, et contre des troupeaux de menu bétail, et contre des troupeaux de gros bétail, et contre des ânes: et il les fournit de pain cette année-là contre tous leurs troupeaux.
18 But when the yeere was ended, they came vnto him the next yeere, and sayd vnto him, We will not hide from my lord, that since our money is spent, and my lord hath the heards of the cattel, there is nothing left in the sight of my lorde, but our bodies and our ground.
Et cette année-là finit; et ils vinrent à lui la seconde année, et lui dirent: Nous ne cacherons pas à mon seigneur que l’argent est épuisé, et mon seigneur a les troupeaux de bétail: il ne reste rien devant mon seigneur que nos corps et nos terres.
19 Why shall we perish in thy sight, both we, and our land? bye vs and our land for bread, and we and our land will be bonde to Pharaoh: therefore giue vs seede, that we may liue and not dye, and that the land go not to waste.
Pourquoi mourrions-nous devant tes yeux, tant nous que nos terres? Achète-nous, et nos terres, contre du pain; et nous serons, nous et nos terres, serviteurs du Pharaon. Et donne-nous de la semence, afin que nous vivions et ne mourions pas, et que la terre ne soit pas désolée.
20 So Ioseph bought all the lande of Egypt for Pharaoh: for the Egyptians solde euery man his ground because the famine was sore vpon the: so the land became Pharaohs.
Et Joseph acheta tout le sol de l’Égypte pour le Pharaon: car les Égyptiens vendirent chacun son champ, parce que la famine les pressait; et la terre fut au Pharaon.
21 And he remoued the people vnto the cities, from one side of Egypt euen to the other.
Et quant au peuple, il le fit passer dans les villes, d’un bout des limites de l’Égypte jusqu’à l’autre bout.
22 Onely the lande of the Priestes bought he not: for the Priestes had an ordinarie of Pharaoh, and they did eate their ordinarie, which Pharaoh gaue them: wherefore they solde not their grounde.
Seulement il n’acheta pas les terres des sacrificateurs, car il y avait de la part du Pharaon une portion assignée pour les sacrificateurs; et ils mangeaient leur portion assignée que le Pharaon leur donnait; c’est pourquoi ils ne vendirent pas leurs terres.
23 Then Ioseph sayd vnto the people, Behold, I haue bought you this daye, and your lande for Pharaoh: lo, here is seede for you: sowe therefore the grounde.
Et Joseph dit au peuple: Voici, je vous ai achetés aujourd’hui, et vos terres, pour le Pharaon. Voici de la semence pour vous: ensemencez la terre.
24 And of the encrease ye shall giue the fifth part vnto Pharaoh, and foure partes shalbe yours for the seede of the fielde, and for your meate, and for them of your housholdes, and for your children to eate.
Et il arrivera, lors des récoltes, que vous donnerez le cinquième au Pharaon, et les quatre [autres] parties seront pour vous, pour la semence des champs, et pour votre nourriture, et pour ceux qui sont dans vos maisons, et pour la nourriture de vos petits enfants.
25 Then they answered, Thou hast saued our liues: let vs finde grace in the sight of my Lord, and we will be Pharaohs seruants.
Et ils dirent: Tu nous as conservé la vie; que nous trouvions grâce aux yeux de mon seigneur, et nous serons serviteurs du Pharaon.
26 Then Ioseph made it a lawe ouer the land of Egypt vnto this day, that Pharaoh should haue the fift part, except the land of the priests only, which was not Pharaohs.
Et Joseph en fit une loi, jusqu’à ce jour, sur les terres de l’Égypte: au Pharaon un cinquième. Seulement, les terres des sacrificateurs seuls ne furent pas au Pharaon.
27 And Israel dwelt in the lande of Egypt, in the countrey of Goshen: and they had their possessions therein, and grewe and multiplied exceedingly.
Et Israël habita dans le pays d’Égypte, dans le pays de Goshen; et ils y acquirent des possessions, et fructifièrent, et multiplièrent extrêmement.
28 Moreouer, Iaakob liued in the lande of Egypt seuenteene yeeres, so that the whole age of Iaakob was an hundreth fourtie and seuen yeere.
Et Jacob vécut dans le pays d’Égypte 17 ans; et les jours de Jacob, les années de sa vie, furent 147 ans.
29 Now when the time drewe neere that Israel must dye, he called his sonne Ioseph, and sayde vnto him, If I haue nowe founde grace in thy sight, put thine hand nowe vnder my thigh, and deale mercifully and truely with me: burie me not, I pray thee, in Egypt.
Et les jours d’Israël s’approchèrent de la mort. Et il appela Joseph, son fils, et lui dit: Si j’ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, mets, je te prie, ta main sous ma cuisse, et use envers moi de bonté et de vérité: ne m’enterre pas, je te prie, en Égypte;
30 But when I shall sleepe with my fathers, thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury mee in their buryall. And he answered, I will doe as thou hast sayde.
mais quand je serai couché avec mes pères, tu m’emporteras d’Égypte, et tu m’enterreras dans leur sépulcre. Et il dit: Je ferai selon ta parole.
31 The he said, Sweare vnto me. And he sware vnto him. And Israel worshipped towardes the beds head.
Et [Jacob] dit: Jure-le-moi. Et il le lui jura. Et Israël se prosterna sur le chevet du lit.
