Ezra 10
1 Whiles Ezra prayed thus, and confessed himselfe weeping, and falling downe before the house of God, there assembled vnto him of Israel a very great Congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept with a great lamentation.

2 Then Shechaniah the sonne of Iehiel one of the sonnes of Elam answered, and sayd to Ezra, We haue trespassed against our God, and haue taken strange wiues of the people of the land, yet nowe there is hope in Israel concerning this.
Nake Shekania mũrũ wa Jehieli, ũmwe wa rũciaro rwa Elamu, akĩĩra Ezara atĩrĩ, “Tũkoretwo tũtarĩ ehokeku harĩ Ngai witũ nĩ ũndũ nĩtũhikĩtie andũ-a-nja kuuma ndũrĩrĩ iria itũthiũrũrũkĩirie. No o na kũrĩ ũguo-rĩ, Isiraeli no marĩ na kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro.
3 Now therfore let vs make a couenant with our God, to put away all the wiues (and such as are borne of them) according to the counsell of the Lord, and of those that feare the commandements of our God, and let it be done according to the Lawe.
Na rĩrĩ, nĩtũthondeke kĩrĩkanĩro tũrĩ mbere ya Ngai witũ atĩ nĩtũkũingata andũ-a-nja aya othe na ciana ciao, kũringana na mataaro ma mwathi wakwa, o na mataaro ma arĩa metigĩrĩte maathani ma Ngai witũ. Ũndũ ũyũ nĩwĩkwo kũringana na Watho.
4 Arise: for the matter belogeth vnto thee: we also wil be with thee: be of comfort and do it.
Arahũka; ũhoro ũyũ ũrĩ moko-inĩ maku. Ithuĩ tũrĩ hamwe nawe; nĩ ũndũ ũcio, wĩyũmĩrĩrie ũwĩke.”
5 Then arose Ezra, and caused the chiefe Priestes, the Leuites, and all Israel, to sweare that they would doe according to this worde. So they sware.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Ezara akĩarahũka, agĩtũma atongoria a athĩnjĩri-Ngai na Alawii, o na andũ othe a Isiraeli mehĩte atĩ nĩmegwĩka ũrĩa kwerĩtwo. Nao makĩĩhĩta.
6 And Ezra rose vp from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Iohanan the sonne of Eliashib: he went euen thither, but he did eate neither bread, nor drunke water: for he mourned, because of the transgression of them of the captiuitie.

7 And they caused a proclamation to goe throughout Iudah and Ierusalem, vnto all them of the captiuitie, that they should assemble themselues vnto Ierusalem.
Gũgĩcooka gũkĩanĩrĩrwo Juda na Jerusalemu guothe atĩ andũ othe arĩa maatahĩtwo mongane Jerusalemu.
8 And whosoeuer woulde not come within three dayes according to the counsel of the Princes and Elders, all his substance should be forfait, and he should be separate from the Congregation of them of the captiuitie.
Mũndũ o wothe ũngĩagire gũkinya Jerusalemu mĩthenya ĩtatũ ĩtanathira kũringana na itua rĩa anene na athuuri, atunywo indo ciake ciothe, nake we mwene aingatwo, ehere kĩũngano-inĩ kĩa andũ arĩa maatahĩtwo.
9 Then all the men of Iudah and Beniamin assembled theselues vnto Ierusalem within three dayes, which was the twentieth day of the ninth moneth, and all the people sate in the streete of the house of God, trembling for this matter, and for the raine.
Mĩthenya ĩyo ĩtatũ ĩtanathira, arũme othe a Juda na Benjamini makĩũngana Jerusalemu. Naguo mũthenya wa mĩrongo ĩĩrĩ wa mweri wa kenda, andũ othe nĩmaikarĩte thĩ kĩhaaro-inĩ kĩrĩa kĩarĩ mbere ya nyũmba ya Ngai, mathĩnĩkĩte mũno tondũ wa ũndũ ũcio na nĩ ũndũ wa mbura.
10 And Ezra the Priest stoode vp, and said vnto them, Ye haue transgressed, and haue taken strange wiues, to increase the trespasse of Israel.
Hĩndĩ ĩyo Ezara ũcio mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai akĩrũgama na igũrũ, akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Mũkoretwo mũtarĩ ehokeku; nĩmũhikĩtie andũ-a-nja a kũngĩ, mũgakĩongerera mahĩtia ma Isiraeli.
11 Now therefore giue praise vnto the Lord God of your fathers, and do his will, and separate your selues from the people of the land, and from the strange wiues.
Rĩu-rĩ, umbũrai mehia manyu kũrĩ Jehova Ngai wa maithe manyu, na mwĩke ũrĩa endaga. Mwĩyamũraniei na andũ arĩa mamũthiũrũrũkĩirie, o na atumia anyu a kũngĩ.”
12 And all the Congregation answered, and sayd with a loude voyce, So will we do according to thy wordes vnto vs.
Kĩũngano gĩothe gĩgĩcookia na mũgambo mũnene atĩrĩ, “Nĩwoiga ũrĩa kwagĩrĩire! No nginya twĩke o ta ũguo woiga.
13 But the people are many, and it is a raynie weather, and we are not able to stande without, neither is it the worke of one day or two: for we are many that haue offended in this thing.
No rĩrĩ, andũ aya marĩ haha nĩ aingĩ, na nĩ hĩndĩ ya mbura; nĩ ũndũ ũcio tũtingĩikara nja. Ningĩ ũhoro ũyũ ndũngĩthondekeka na mũthenya ũmwe kana ĩĩrĩ, tondũ nĩtwĩhĩtie mũno ũndũ-inĩ ũyũ.
14 Let our rulers stand therefore before all the Congregation, and let all them which haue taken strange wiues in our cities, come at the time appoynted, and with them the Elders of euery citie and the Iudges thereof, til the fierce wrath of our God for this matter turne away from vs.

15 Then were appoynted Ionathan the sonne of Asah-el, and Iahaziah the sonne of Tikuah ouer this matter, and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Leuites helped them.
Andũ arĩa maareganire na ũhoro ũcio no Jonathani mũrũ wa Asaheli, na Jahazeia mũrũ wa Tikiva, hamwe na Meshulamu, na Shabethai ũrĩa Mũlawii.
16 And they of the captiuitie did so, and departed, euen Ezra the Priest, and the men that were chiefe fathers to the familie of their fathers by name, and sate downe in the first day of the tenth moneth to examine the matter.

17 And vntill the first day of the first moneth they were finishing the businesse with al the men that had taken strange wiues.
na gũgĩkinya mũthenya wa mbere wa mweri wa mbere, makĩrĩkia maciira ma arũme othe arĩa maahikĩtie andũ-a-nja a kũngĩ.
18 And of the sonnes of the Priests there were men founde, that had taken strange wiues, to wit, of the sonnes of Ieshua, the sonne of Iozadak, and of his brethren, Maaseiah, Aeliezer, and Iarib and Gedaliah.
Thĩinĩ wa njiaro cia athĩnjĩri-Ngai, andũ aya nĩo maahikĩtie andũ-a-nja a kũngĩ: Kuuma njiaro cia Jeshua mũrũ wa Jozadaku na ariũ a ithe nĩ: Maaseia, na Eliezeri, na Jaribu, na Gedalia.
19 And they gaue their hads, that they would put away their wiues, and they that had trespassed, gaue a ramme for their trespasse.
(Othe makĩĩranĩra atĩ nĩmegũtigana na atumia ao, na o mũndũ akĩruta ndũrũme kuuma rũũru-inĩ rwake nĩ ũndũ wa iruta rĩa mahĩtia mao.)
20 And of the sonnes of Immer, Honani, and Zebadiah.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Imeri nĩ: Hanani na Zebadia.
21 And of the sonnes of Harim, Maaseiah, and Eliiah, and Shemaiah, and Iehiel, and Vzziah.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Harimu nĩ: Maaseia, na Elija, na Shemaia, na Jehieli, na Uzia.
22 And of ye sonnes of Pashur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Iozabad, and Elasah.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Pashuri nĩ: Elioenai, na Maaseia, na Ishumaeli, na Nethaneli, na Jozabadu, na Elasa.
23 And of the Leuites, Iozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (which is Kelitah) Pethahiah, Iudah and Eliezer.
Kuuma kũrĩ Alawii nĩ: Jozabadu, na Shimei, na Kelaia (na nowe Kelita), na Pethahia, na Juda, na Eliezeri.
24 And of the singers, Eliashib. And of the porters, Shallum, and Telem, and Vri.
Kuuma kũrĩ aini a nyĩmbo nĩ: Eliashibu. Kuuma kũrĩ aikaria a ihingo nĩ: Shakumu, na Telemu, na Uri.
25 And of Israel: of the sonnes of Parosh, Ramiah, and Iesiah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchiiah, and Benaiah.
Na gatagatĩ-inĩ ga Aisiraeli arĩa angĩ: Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Paroshu nĩ: Ramia, na Izia, na Malikija, na Mijamini, na Eleazaru, na Malikija, na Benaia.
26 And of the sonnes of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Iehiel, and Abdi, and Ieremoth, and Eliah.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Elamu nĩ: Matania, na Zekaria, na Jehieli, na Abadi, na Jeremothu, na Elija.
27 And of the sonnes of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Ierimoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Zatu nĩ: Elioenai, na Eliashibu, na Matania, na Jeremothu, na Zabadi, na Aziza.
28 And of the sonnes of Bebai, Iehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Bebai nĩ: Jehohanani, na Hanania, na Zabai, na Athilai.
29 And of the sonnes of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Iashub, and Sheal, Ieramoth.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Bani nĩ: Meshulamu, na Maluku, na Adaia, na Jashubu, na Sheali, na Jeremothu.
30 And of the sonnes of Pahath Moab, Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Pahathu-Moabi nĩ: Adina, na Kelali, na Benaia, na Maaseia, na Matania, na Bezaleli, na Binui, na Manase.
31 And of the sonnes of Harim, Eliezer, Ishiiah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Harimu nĩ: Eliezeri, na Ishija, na Malikija, na Shemaia, na Shimeoni,
32 Beniamin, Malluch, Shamariah.
na Benjamini, na Maluku, na Shemaria.
33 Of the sonnes of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Ieremai, Manasseh, Shimei.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Hashumu nĩ: Matenai, na Matata, na Zabadi, na Elifeleti, na Jeremai, na Manase, na Shimei.
34 Of the sonnes of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Vel,
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Bani nĩ: Maadai, na Amuramu, na Ueli,
35 Banaiah, Bediah, Chelluh,
na Benaia, na Bedeia, na Keluhi,
36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
na Vania, na Meremothu, na Eliashibu,
37 Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Iaasau,
na Matania, na Matenai, na Jaasu.
38 And Banni, and Bennui, Shimei,

39 And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
na Shelemia, na Nathani, na Adaia,
40 Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
na Makinadebai, na Shashai, na Sharai,
41 Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
na Azareli, na Shelemia, na Shemaria,
42 Shallum, Amariah, Ioseph.
na Shalumu, na Amaria, na Jusufu.
43 Of the sonnes of Nebo, Ieiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Iadau, and Ioel, Benaiah.
Kuuma kũrĩ njiaro cia Nebo nĩ: Jeieli, na Matithia, na Zabadi, na Zabina, na Jadai, na Joeli, na Benaia.
44 All these had taken strange wiues: and among them were women that had children.
Acio othe nĩmahikĩtie andũ-a-nja a kũngĩ, na amwe ao nĩmaciarĩte ciana na atumia acio.
