Ezra 10
1 Whiles Ezra prayed thus, and confessed himselfe weeping, and falling downe before the house of God, there assembled vnto him of Israel a very great Congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept with a great lamentation.
Et comme Esdras priait, et comme, en pleurant et priant, il élevait la voix devant le temple du Seigneur, la nombreuse Église d'Israël se rassembla auprès de lui, hommes, femmes et jeunes gens; et le peuple pleura, et en pleurant il éleva la voix.
2 Then Shechaniah the sonne of Iehiel one of the sonnes of Elam answered, and sayd to Ezra, We haue trespassed against our God, and haue taken strange wiues of the people of the land, yet nowe there is hope in Israel concerning this.
Et Sechénias, fils de Jehel, des fils d'Elam, prit la parole, et il dit à Esdras: Nous avons violé la loi de notre Dieu, et nous avons épousé parmi les peuples de la terre promise des femmes étrangères; et maintenant, après cela, Israël espère encore.
3 Now therfore let vs make a couenant with our God, to put away all the wiues (and such as are borne of them) according to the counsell of the Lord, and of those that feare the commandements of our God, and let it be done according to the Lawe.
Faisons donc alliance avec notre Dieu; et, s'il le veut, chassons toutes ces femmes et ceux qui sont nés d'elles. Lève-toi, inspire-leur la crainte des commandements de notre Dieu, et qu'il soit fait selon la loi.
4 Arise: for the matter belogeth vnto thee: we also wil be with thee: be of comfort and do it.
Lève-toi, car l'affaire te regarde, et nous sommes avec toi; sois fort et agis.
5 Then arose Ezra, and caused the chiefe Priestes, the Leuites, and all Israel, to sweare that they would doe according to this worde. So they sware.
Et Esdras se leva, et il fit prêter serment aux chefs, aux prêtres, aux lévites, à tout Israël, d'exécuter ses ordres, et ils le jurèrent.
6 And Ezra rose vp from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Iohanan the sonne of Eliashib: he went euen thither, but he did eate neither bread, nor drunke water: for he mourned, because of the transgression of them of the captiuitie.
Et Esdras se leva de devant le temple, et il alla au trésor gardé par Johanan, fils d'Elisub, et il y entra, et il ne mangea pas de pain, et il ne but point d'eau, car il pleurait sur l'infidélité des fils de l'exil.
7 And they caused a proclamation to goe throughout Iudah and Ierusalem, vnto all them of the captiuitie, that they should assemble themselues vnto Ierusalem.
Et l'on fit dans Juda et à Jérusalem une proclamation qui disait: Tous les fils de l'exil se réuniront à Jérusalem.
8 And whosoeuer woulde not come within three dayes according to the counsel of the Princes and Elders, all his substance should be forfait, and he should be separate from the Congregation of them of the captiuitie.
Quiconque ne viendra pas dans trois jours, selon l'ordre des princes et des prêtres, tous ses biens seront anathématisés, et lui-même sera expulsé de l'Église des fils de l'exil.
9 Then all the men of Iudah and Beniamin assembled theselues vnto Ierusalem within three dayes, which was the twentieth day of the ninth moneth, and all the people sate in the streete of the house of God, trembling for this matter, and for the raine.
Tous les hommes de Juda et de Benjamin se rendirent donc à Jérusalem. On était au neuvième mois; le vingtième jour du même mois, tout le peuple se tint sur la place du temple de Dieu, à cause du trouble né de cette affaire, et à cause d'une tempête.
10 And Ezra the Priest stoode vp, and said vnto them, Ye haue transgressed, and haue taken strange wiues, to increase the trespasse of Israel.
Et Esdras, le prêtre, se leva, et il leur dit: Vous avez violé l'alliance, et vous avez épousé des femmes étrangères, pour ajouter aux péchés d'Israël.
11 Now therefore giue praise vnto the Lord God of your fathers, and do his will, and separate your selues from the people of the land, and from the strange wiues.
Rendez maintenant gloire au Seigneur Dieu de vos pères, et faites ce qui est agréable à ses yeux; séparez-vous des peuples de la terre promise, et des femmes des étrangers.
12 And all the Congregation answered, and sayd with a loude voyce, So will we do according to thy wordes vnto vs.
Et toute l'Église s'écria: Grande est pour nous cette parole de toi que nous devons accomplir.
13 But the people are many, and it is a raynie weather, and we are not able to stande without, neither is it the worke of one day or two: for we are many that haue offended in this thing.
Mais le peuple est nombreux, le temps est à l'orage, et il n'est pas possible de se tenir dehors plus longtemps; d'ailleurs, ce n'est point l'œuvre d'un ou de deux jours, car, à ce sujet, nous avons multiplié nos fautes.
14 Let our rulers stand therefore before all the Congregation, and let all them which haue taken strange wiues in our cities, come at the time appoynted, and with them the Elders of euery citie and the Iudges thereof, til the fierce wrath of our God for this matter turne away from vs.
Que nos chefs restent, et qu'ils aillent, au temps prescrit, en toutes les villes, pour tous ceux qui ont épousé des femmes étrangères; que dans chaque ville ils s'adjoignent les anciens et les juges, afin de détourner de nous la colère du Seigneur notre Dieu, au sujet de ce péché.
15 Then were appoynted Ionathan the sonne of Asah-el, and Iahaziah the sonne of Tikuah ouer this matter, and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Leuites helped them.
Or, il n'y eut avec moi que Jonathas, fils d'Azaêl, et Jasias, fils de Thécoé, et ils eurent pour aides Mesollam, et Sabbathaï, le lévite.
16 And they of the captiuitie did so, and departed, euen Ezra the Priest, and the men that were chiefe fathers to the familie of their fathers by name, and sate downe in the first day of the tenth moneth to examine the matter.
Et voici ce que firent les chefs de l'exil: le prêtre Esdras et les chefs de familles paternelles furent désignés tous nominativement, et ils partirent le premier jour du dixième mois pour faire des enquêtes sur cette affaire.
17 And vntill the first day of the first moneth they were finishing the businesse with al the men that had taken strange wiues.
Et, le premier jour du premier mois, ils eurent fini, et connurent tous les hommes qui avaient épousé des femmes étrangères.
18 And of the sonnes of the Priests there were men founde, that had taken strange wiues, to wit, of the sonnes of Ieshua, the sonne of Iozadak, and of his brethren, Maaseiah, Aeliezer, and Iarib and Gedaliah.
Et parmi eux furent trouvés des fils de prêtres nés de Josué, fils de Josédec et ses frères, savoir: Maasia, et Eliézer, et Jarib, et Gadalie.
19 And they gaue their hads, that they would put away their wiues, and they that had trespassed, gaue a ramme for their trespasse.
Et ils s'engagèrent à répudier leurs femmes, et ils donnèrent chacun un bélier de son troupeau, pour le péché.
20 And of the sonnes of Immer, Honani, and Zebadiah.
Il y eut des fils d'Emmer Anani et Zabdia;
21 And of the sonnes of Harim, Maaseiah, and Eliiah, and Shemaiah, and Iehiel, and Vzziah.
Et des fils d'Eram Masahel, Elia, Samaïa, et Ozias;
22 And of ye sonnes of Pashur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Iozabad, and Elasah.
Et des fils de Phasur: Elionaï, Maasia, Ismaël, Nathanaël, Jozabad et Elasa;
23 And of the Leuites, Iozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (which is Kelitah) Pethahiah, Iudah and Eliezer.
Et des lévites: Jozabad, Samu, Colia (le même que Colite), Phetheia, Judas et Eliézer;
24 And of the singers, Eliashib. And of the porters, Shallum, and Telem, and Vri.
Et des chantres: Elisabadi; et des portiers, Solmen, Telmen et Oduth;
25 And of Israel: of the sonnes of Parosh, Ramiah, and Iesiah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchiiah, and Benaiah.
Et d'Israël, des fils de Phoros: Ramia, Azia, Melchia, Méamin, Eléazar, Asabie et Banaïa;
26 And of the sonnes of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Iehiel, and Abdi, and Ieremoth, and Eliah.
Et des fils d'Hélam: Matthanias, Zacharie et Jahiel, Abdias, Jarimoth et Eue;
27 And of the sonnes of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Ierimoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
Et des fils de Zathuca: Elionaï, Elisub, Matthanaï, Armoth, Zabad et Oziza;
28 And of the sonnes of Bebai, Iehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.
Et des fils de Bubeï. Johanan, Ananie, Zabu et Thali;
29 And of the sonnes of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Iashub, and Sheal, Ieramoth.
Et des fils de Banuï: Mosollam, Maluch, Adaïas, Jasub, Saluïa et Remoth;
30 And of the sonnes of Pahath Moab, Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
Et des fils de Phaath-Moab Edné, Chalet, Banaïa, Maasia, Matthanias, Béséléel, Banuï et Manassé;
31 And of the sonnes of Harim, Eliezer, Ishiiah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,
Et des fils d'Eram: Eliézer, Jésia, Melchia, Samaïas, Séméon,
32 Beniamin, Malluch, Shamariah.
Benjamin, Baluch, Samaria;
33 Of the sonnes of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Ieremai, Manasseh, Shimei.
Et des fils d'Asem: Metthanie, Matthatha, Zadab, Eliphalet, Jerami, Manassé, Sémeï;
34 Of the sonnes of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Vel,
Et des fils de Bani: Moodia, Amram, Uhel,
35 Banaiah, Bediah, Chelluh,
Banaïas, Badaïas, Helcias,
36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
Vania, Marimoth, Eliasiph,
37 Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Iaasau,
Matthanias, Matthanaï; et ainsi firent:
38 And Banni, and Bennui, Shimei,
Les fils de Banui, et les fils de Sémeï,
39 And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
Et Sélémia, et Nathan, et Adaïa,
40 Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
Machadnabu, Séseï, Sariu,
41 Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
Ezriel, et Sélémia, et Samaria,
42 Shallum, Amariah, Ioseph.
Et Sellum, Amaria, Joseph;
43 Of the sonnes of Nebo, Ieiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Iadau, and Ioel, Benaiah.
Des fils de Nabu: Jahel, Matthanias, Zabad, Zebennas, Jadaï, Johel et Banaïa.
44 All these had taken strange wiues: and among them were women that had children.
Tels furent ceux qui avaient épousé des femmes étrangères, et qui en avaient eu des enfants.
