Acts 1
1 I have made the former treatise, O Theophilus, of al that Jesus began to doe and teach,
J’ai fait mon premier récit, ô Théophile, sur tout ce que Jésus-Christ a fait et enseigné depuis le commencement,
2 Vntill the day that hee was taken vp, after that hee through the holy Ghost, had giuen commandements vnto the Apostles, whome hee had chosen:
Jusqu’au jour où il fut enlevé au ciel, après avoir donné, par l’Esprit-Saint, ses commandements aux apôtres qu’il avait choisis,
3 To whome also he presented himselfe aliue after that he had suffered, by many infallible tokens, being seene of them by the space of fourtie daies, and speaking of those thinges which appertaine to the kingdome of God.
Et auxquels, après sa passion, il se montra vivant par beaucoup de preuves, leur apparaissant pendant quarante jours, et leur parlant du royaume de Dieu.
4 And when he had gathered them together, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Hierusalem, but to waite for the promise of the Father, which sayde hee, yee haue heard of me.
Ensuite, mangeant avec eux, il leur commanda de ne pas s’éloigner de Jérusalem, mais d’attendre la promesse du Père, que vous avez, dit-il, ouïe de ma bouche;
5 For Iohn in deede baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the holy Ghost within these fewe daies.
Car Jean a baptisé dans l’eau; mais vous, vous serez baptisés dans l’Esprit-Saint, sous peu de jours.
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdome to Israel?
Ceux donc qui se trouvaient là assemblés l’interrogaient disant: Seigneur, est-ce en ce temps que vous rétablirez le royaume d’Israël?
7 And hee saide vnto them, It is not for you to know the times, or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his owne power,
Et il leur répondit: Ce n’est pas à vous de connaître les temps et les moments que le Père a réservés en sa puissance;
8 But yee shall receiue power of the holy Ghost, when he shall come on you: and ye shalbe witnesses vnto me both in Hierusalem and in all Iudea, and in Samaria, and vnto the vttermost part of the earth.
Mais vous recevrez la vertu de l’Esprit-Saint, qui viendra sur vous, et vous serez témoins pour moi, à Jérusalem, dans toute la Judée et la Samarie, et jusqu’aux extrémités de la terre.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they behelde, he was taken vp: for a cloude tooke him vp out of their sight.
Et quand il eut dit ces choses, eux le voyant, il s’éleva, et une nuée le déroba à leurs yeux.
10 And while they looked stedfastly towarde heauen, as hee went, beholde, two men stoode by them in white apparell,
Et comme ils le regardaient allant au ciel, voilà que deux hommes se présentèrent devant eux, avec des vêtements blancs,
11 Which also sayde, Yee men of Galile, why stande yee gasing into heauen? This Iesus which is taken vp from you into heauen, shall so come, as yee haue seene him goe into heauen.
Et leur dirent: Hommes de Galilée, pourquoi vous tenez-vous là, regardant au ciel? Ce Jésus, qui du milieu de vous a été enlevé au ciel, viendra de la même manière que vous l’avez vu allant au ciel.
12 Then returned they vnto Hierusalem from the mount that is called the mount of Oliues, which is neere to Hierusalem, being from it a Sabbath daies iourney.
Alors ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, de la montagne qu’on appelle des Oliviers, et qui est près de Jérusalem, à la distance d’une journée de sabbat.
13 And when they were come in, they went vp into an vpper chamber, where abode both Peter and Iames, and Iohn, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartlemew, and Matthewe, Iames the sonne of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Iudas Iames brother.
Et lorsqu’ils furent entrés, ils montèrent dans le cénacle, où demeuraient Pierre et Jean, Jacques et André, Philippe et Thomas, Barthélemi et Matthieu, Jacques, fils d’Alphée, et Simon le Zélé, et Jude, frère de Jacques;
14 These all continued with one accorde in prayer and supplication with the women, and Marie the mother of Iesus, and with his brethren.
Tous ceux-ci persévéraient unanimement dans la prière, avec les femmes, et avec Marie, mère de Jésus, et avec ses frères.
15 And in those dayes Peter stoode vp in the middes of the disciples, and sayde (nowe the nomber of names that were in one place were about an hundreth and twentie.)
En ces jours-là, Pierre se levant au milieu des frères (or le nombre des hommes réunis était d’environ cent vingt), dit:
16 Yee men and brethren, this scripture must needes haue beene fulfilled, which the holy Ghost by the mouth of Dauid spake before of Iudas, which was guide to them that tooke Iesus.
Mes frères, il faut que s’accomplisse ce qu’a écrit et prédit l’Esprit-Saint par la bouche de David, touchant Judas, qui a été le guide de ceux qui ont pris Jésus:
17 For hee was nombred with vs, and had obteined fellowship in this ministration.
Qui était compté parmi nous, et avait reçu sa part au même ministère.
18 He therefore hath purchased a field with the reward of iniquitie: and when he had throwen downe himselfe headlong, hee brast asunder in the middes, and all his bowels gushed out.
Et il a acquis un champ du salaire de l’iniquité, et s’étant pendu, il a crevé par le milieu, et toutes ses entrailles se sont répandues.
19 And it is knowen vnto all the inhabitants of Hierusalem, in so much, that that field is called in their owne language, Aceldama, That is, the field of blood.
Et cela a été connu de tous les habitants de Jérusalem, en sorte que ce champ a été appelé en leur langue, Haceldama, c’est-à-dire champ du sang.
20 For it is written in the booke of Psalmes, Let his habitation be void, and let no man dwel therein: also, Let another take his charge.
Car il est écrit au livre des Psaumes: Que leur demeure devienne déserte, et qu’il n’y ait personne qui l’habite, et que son épiscopat, un autre le reçoive.
21 Wherefore of these men which haue companied with vs, all the time that the Lord Iesus was conuersant among vs,
Il faut donc que de ceux qui se sont unis à nous pendant tout le temps où le Seigneur Jésus a vécu parmi nous,
22 Beginning from the baptisme of Iohn vnto the day that hee was taken vp from vs, must one of them bee made a witnesse with vs of his resurrection.
À commencer du baptême de Jean, jusqu’au jour où il a été enlevé d’au milieu de nous, il y en ait un qui devienne témoin avec nous de sa résurrection.
23 And they presented two, Ioseph called Barsabas, whose surname was Iustus, and Matthias.
Et ils en présentèrent deux, Joseph, qui s’appelait Barsabas, et qui a été surnommé le Juste, et Mathias.
24 And they praied, saying, Thou Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shewe whether of these two thou hast chosen,
Et, priant, ils dirent: Vous, Seigneur, qui connaissez les cœurs de tous, montrez lequel vous avez choisi, de ces deux,
25 That he may take the roume of this ministration and Apostleship, from which Iudas hath gone astray, to goe to his owne place.
Afin de prendre place dans ce ministère et cet apostolat, dans lequel Judas a prévariqué pour s’en aller en son lieu.
26 Then they gaue foorth their lottes: and the lotte fell on Matthias, and hee was by a common consent counted with the eleuen Apostles.
Et ils leur distribuèrent les sorts, et le sort tomba sur Mathias, et il fut associé aux onze apôtres.
