Acts 6
1 And in those dayes, as the nomber of ye disciples grewe, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians towards ye Hebrewes, because their widowes were neglected in the dayly ministring.
In jenen Tagen, da die Jünger sich mehrten, entstand ein Murren der Hellenisten gegen die Hebräer, daß ihre Witwen bei der täglichen Almosenverteilung zurückgesetzt würden.
2 Then the twelue called the multitude of the disciples together, and sayd, It is not meete that we should leaue the worde of God to serue the tables.
Da beriefen die Zwölf eine Versammlung der Jünger und erklärten: "Es geht nicht an, daß wir das Wort Gottes hintansetzen, um die Tische zu besorgen.
3 Wherefore brethren, looke ye out among you seuen men of honest report, and full of the holy Ghost, and of wisedome, which we may appoint to this busines.
So sucht euch denn, ihr lieben Brüder, bei euch sieben Männer aus, die ein gutes Zeugnis haben und voll des Heiligen Geistes und voll Weisheit sind; die wollen wir für diese Sache bestellen.
4 And we will giue our selues continually to prayer, and to the ministration of the worde.
Wir aber werden weiter dem Gebete sowie dem Dienste des Wortes uns widmen."
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Steuen a man full of fayth and of the holy Ghost, and Philippe, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a Proselyte of Antiochia,
Der Vorschlag fand den Beifall der ganzen Versammlung. Sie wählten Stephanus, einen Mann voll Glauben und Heiligen Geistes, den Philippus, Prochorus, Nikanor, Timon, Parmenas und Nikolaus, einen Proselyten aus Antiochien.
6 Which they set before the Apostles: and they prayed, and layed their hands on them.
Diese stellte man den Aposteln vor. Sie legten ihnen unter Gebet die Hände auf.
7 And the worde of God increased, and the nomber of the disciples was multipled in Hierusalem greatly, and a great company of the Priests were obedient to the faith.
Und das Wort Gottes verbreitete sich, und die Zahl der Jünger ward in Jerusalem groß, sogar eine große Anzahl von Priestern unterwarf sich dem Glauben.
8 Now Steuen full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
Stephanus, voll Liebe und Kraft, tat große Zeichen und Wunder unter dem Volke.
9 Then there arose certaine of the Synagogue, which are called Libertines, and Cyrenians, and of Alexandria, and of them of Cilicia, and of Asia, and disputed with Steuen.
Da erhoben sich einige aus der sogenannten Synagoge der Libertiner, Cyrenäer und Alexandriner und derer aus Cilizien und Asien und stritten mit Stephanus.
10 But they were not able to resist the wisdome, and the Spirit by the which he spake.
Sie vermochten aber der Weisheit und dem Geiste, mit dem er sprach, nicht zu widerstehen.
11 Then they suborned men, which saide, We haue heard him speake blasphemous wordes against Moses, and God.
Sie stifteten Männer an, die aussagen mußten: "Wir haben gehört, wie er Lästerworte gegen Moses und Gott ausstieß."
12 Thus they mooued the people and the Elders, and the Scribes: and running vpon him, caught him, and brought him to the Councill,
Sie hetzten das Volk, die Ältesten und die Schriftgelehrten auf, überfielen ihn, schleppten ihn fort und führten ihn vor den Hohen Rat.
13 And set forth false witnesses, which sayd, This man ceasseth not to speake blasphemous wordes against this holy place, and the Law.
Auch stellten sie falsche Zeugen auf, die aussagen mußten: "Dieser Mensch hört nicht auf, gegen die heilige Stätte und gegen das Gesetz Reden auszustoßen.
14 For we haue heard him say, that this Iesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the ordinances, which Moses gaue vs.
Haben wir ihn doch sagen hören: 'Der bekannte Jesus von Nazareth wird diesen Ort zerstören und die Bräuche ändern, die Moses uns überliefert hat.'"
15 And as all that sate in the Councill, looked stedfastly on him, they saw his face as it had bene the face of an Angel.
Alle, die im Hohen Rat saßen, richteten ihre Blicke auf ihn, und sein Antlitz erschien ihnen wie das Antlitz eines Engels.
