3 John 1

1 The Elder vnto the beloued Gaius, whom I loue in the trueth.

١ مِنْ يُوحَنَّا الشَّيْخِ إِلَى غَايُوسَ الْحَبِيبِ الَّذِي أُحِبُّهُ بِالْحَقِّ.

2 Beloued, I wish chiefly that thou prosperedst and faredst well as thy soule prospereth.

٢ أَيُّهَا الْحَبِيبُ، أَوَدُّ أَنْ تَكُونَ مُوَفَّقاً فِي كُلِّ أَمْرٍ، وَأَنْ تَكُونَ صِحَّتُكَ الْبَدَنِيَّةُ قَوِيَّةً وَمُعَافَاةً كَصِحَّتِكَ الرُّوحِيَّةِ.

3 For I reioyced greatly when the brethren came, and testified of the trueth that is in thee, how thou walkest in the trueth.

٣ فَكَمْ كَانَ فَرَحِي عَظِيماً عِنْدَمَا مَرَّ بِي بَعْضُ الإِخْوَةِ الْمُسَافِرِينَ وَأَخْبَرُونِي أَنَّكَ تَسْلُكُ بِحَسَبِ الْحَقِّ، وَشَهِدُوا لِلْحَقِّ الثَّابِتِ فِيكَ!

4 I haue no greater ioy then these, that is, to heare that my sonnes walke in veritie.

٤ وَمَا أَعْظَمَ الْفَرَحَ الَّذِي يَغْمُرُ قَلْبِي حِينَ أَسْمَعُ الأَخْبَارَ الطَّيِّبَةَ الَّتِي تُؤَكِّدُ أَنَّ أَوْلادِي يَسْلُكُونَ بِحَسَبِ الْحَقِّ!

5 Beloued, thou doest faithfully, whatsoeuer thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers,

٥ أَيُّهَا الْحَبِيبُ، إِنَّ مُعَامَلَتَكَ الْحَسَنَةَ لِلإِخْوَةِ وَلِلْغُرَبَاءِ تَدُلُّ عَلَى أَنَّكَ تَتَصَرَّفُ بِأَمَانَةٍ نَحْوَ اللهِ.

6 Which bare witnesse of thy loue before the Churches. Whom if thou bringest on their iourney as it beseemeth according to God, thou shalt doe well,

٦ وَقَدْ شَهِدَ هؤُلاءِ الإِخْوَةُ، أَمَامَ الْكَنِيسَةِ، شَهَادَةً جَمِيلَةً لِمَحَبَّتِكَ. فَإِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُ حَسَناً إِذَا زَوَّدْتَهُمْ بِمَا يَحْتَاجُونَ إِلَيْهِ فِي السَّفَرِ. فَأَنْتَ تَعْرِفُ أَنَّ هَذَا يُرْضِي اللهَ،

7 Because that for his Names sake they went forth, and tooke nothing of the Gentiles.

٧ لأَنَّ هؤُلاءِ الإِخْوَةَ قَدِ انْطَلَقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ خِدْمَةِ الْمَسِيحِ، وَهُمْ لَا يَتَلَقَّوْنَ أَيَّ عَوْنٍ مِنْ غَيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ.

8 We therefore ought to receiue such, that we might be helpers to the trueth.

٨ فَعَلَيْنَا نَحْنُ أَنْ نُرَحِّبَ بِأَمْثَالِ هؤُلاءِ لِكَيْ نَكُونَ حَقّاً شُرَكَاءَ لَهُمْ فِي خِدْمَةِ الْحَقِّ.

9 I wrote vnto the Church: but Diotrephes which loueth to haue the preeminence among them, receiueth vs not.

٩ كَتَبْتُ كَلِمَةً إِلَى الْكَنِيسَةِ بِشَأْنِ هَذَا الأَمْرِ. وَلَكِنَّ دِيُوتْرِيفُوسَ، الَّذِي يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَفْرِضَ نَفْسَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ قَائِداً لَا يَقْبَلُنَا.

10 Wherefore if I come, I will call to your remembrance his deedes which he doeth, pratling against vs with malicious wordes, and not therewith content, neither he himselfe receiueth the brethren, but forbiddeth them that woulde, and thrusteth them out of the Church.

١٠ لِهَذَا، سَأَلْفِتُ الانْتِبَاهَ إِلَى الأَعْمَالِ الَّتِي يَقُومُ بِها، حِينَ أَجِيءُ. إِنَّهُ يُثِيرُ ضِدَّنَا تُهَماً كَاذِبَةً، مُتَكَلِّماً بِأُسْلُوبٍ خَبِيثٍ. وَهُوَ لَا يَكْتَفِي بِهَذَا، بَلْ يَرْفُضُ اسْتِقْبَالَ الإِخْوَةِ الْمُسَافِرِينَ، وَيَمْنَعُ الَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ اسْتِقْبَالَهُمْ، وَيَطْرُدُهُمْ مِنَ الْكَنِيسَةِ أَيْضاً.

11 Beloued, follow not that which is euill, but that which is good: he that doeth well, is of God: but he that doeth euill, hath not seene God.

١١ أَيُّهَا الْحَبِيبُ، لَا تَقْتَدِ بِمَا هُوَ شَرٌّ، بَلْ بِمَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ. فَإِنَّ مَنْ يَفْعَلُ الْخَيْرَ، يَكُونُ مِنَ اللهِ. وَمَنْ يَفْعَلِ الشَّرَّ، يُبَيِّنْ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَتَعَرَّفْ بِاللهِ قَطُّ.

12 Demetrius hath good report of al men, and of the trueth it selfe: yea, and wee our selues beare recorde, and ye know that our record is true.

١٢ أَمَّا دِيمِتْرِيُوسُ، فَالْجَمِيعُ يَشْهَدُونَ لَهُ شَهَادَةً طَيِّبَةً. حَتَّى الْحَقُّ نَفْسُهُ يَشْهَدُ لَهُ. وَنَحْنُ أَيْضاً نَشْهَدُ لَهُ. وَأَنْتُمْ تَثِقُونَ بِصِدْقِ مَا نَشْهَدُ بِهِ.

13 I haue many things to write: but I will not with yncke and pen write vnto thee:

١٣ كَانَ عِنْدِي أُمُورٌ كَثِيرَةٌ أَكْتُبُهَا إِلَيْكَ. وَلكِنِّي لَسْتُ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَكْتُبَهَا هُنَا بِالْحِبْرِ وَالْقَلَمِ.

14 For I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speake mouth to mouth. Peace be with thee. The friends salute thee. Greete the friends by name.

١٤ فَآمُلُ أَنْ نَتَقَابَلَ عَنْ قَرِيبٍ، فَنَتَكَلَّمَ مُوَاجَهَةً! السَّلامُ لَكَ! الأَحِبَّاءُ هُنَا يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْكَ. سَلِّمْ عَلَى كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الأَحِبَّاءِ بِاسْمِهِ.
