2 Kings 1
1 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab:
Nach Ahabs Tod aber fielen die Moabiter von Israel ab.
2 And Ahaziah fell thorow the lattesse windowe in his vpper chamber which was in Samaria: so he was sicke: then he sent messengers, to whome he saide, Goe, and enquire of Baal-zebub the God of Ekron, if I shall recouer of this my disease.
Als nun Ahasja in seinem Obergemache zu Samaria durch das Gitter gefallen war und krank lag, sandte er Boten aus und befahl ihnen: Geht hin, befragt den Baal-Sebub, den Gott von Ekron, ob ich von dieser meiner Krankheit genesen werde!
3 Then the Angel of the Lord said to Eliiah the Tishbite, Arise, and goe vp to meete the messengers of the King of Samaria, and say vnto them, Is it not because there is no God in Israel, that ye goe to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?
Der Engel Jahwes aber hatte zu Elia, dem Thisbiter, geredet: Wohlan! gehe hinauf, den Boten des Königs von Samaria entgegen, und sprich zu ihnen: Es giebt wohl keinen Gott in Israel, daß ihr hinzieht, den Baal-Sebub, den Gott von Ekron, zu befragen?
4 Wherefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come downe from the bed on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die the death. So Eliiah departed.
Darum spricht nun Jahwe also: Von dem Bette, auf das du gestiegen bist, sollst du nicht mehr herabsteigen, sondern sterben sollst du! Und Elia ging von dannen.
5 And the messengers returned vnto him, to whome he said, Why are ye nowe returned?
Als nun die Boten zu ihm zurückkamen, fragte er sie: Warum kommt ihr denn wieder?
6 And they answered him, There came a man and met vs, and saide vnto vs, Goe, and returne vnto the King which sent you, and say vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is no God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baal-zebub the God of Ekron? Therefore thou shalt not come downe from the bed, on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die ye death.
Sie antworteten ihm: Ein Mann kam herauf, uns entgegen, der sprach zu uns: Kehrt nur wieder um zu dem Könige, der euch gesandt hat, und sagt ihm: So spricht Jahwe: Es giebt wohl keinen Gott in Israel, daß du hinsendest, Baal-Sebub, den Gott von Ekron, zu befragen? Darum sollst du von dem Bette nicht herabsteigen, auf das du gestiegen bist, sondern sterben sollst du!
7 And he saide vnto them, What maner of man was he which came and met you, and tolde you these wordes?
Da fragte er sie: Wie sah der Mann aus, der euch entgegen heraufkam und Solches zu euch redete?
8 And they said vnto him, He was an hearie man, and girded with a girdle of lether about his loynes. Then sayde he, It is Eliiah the Tishbite.
Sie antworteten ihm: Er hatte als Mantel zottiges Fell und trug einen ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden. Da sprach er: Das ist Elia, der Thisbiter!
9 Therefore the King sent vnto him a captaine ouer fiftie with his fiftie men, who went vp vnto him: for beholde, he sate on the toppe of a mountaine, and he saide vnto him, O man of God, the King hath commanded that thou come downe.
Hierauf schickte er einen Hauptmann über fünfzig samt seinen fünfzig nach ihm aus. Als der zu ihm hinaufkam - er saß nämlich oben auf dem Gipfel des Bergs, - redete er ihn an: Mann Gottes, der König befiehlt: Du sollst herabkommen!
10 But Eliiah answered, and saide to the captaine ouer the fiftie, If that I be a man of God, let fire come downe from the heauen, and deuoure thee and thy fiftie. So fire came downe from the heauen and deuoured him and his fiftie.
Elia aber antwortete und sprach zu dem Hauptmann über die fünfzig: Nun wohl, wenn ich ein Mann Gottes bin, so falle Feuer vom Himmel herab und verzehre dich und deine fünfzig! Da fiel Feuer vom Himmel herab und verzehrte ihn und seine fünfzig.
11 Againe also he sent vnto him another captaine ouer fiftie, with his fiftie. Who spake, and saide vnto him, O man of God, thus the King commandeth, Come downe quickely.
Hierauf schickte er abermals und zwar einen anderen Hauptmann über fünfzig samt seinen fünfzig aus. Der kam hinauf und redete ihn an: Mann Gottes, so spricht der König: Komm schleunigst herab!
12 But Eliiah answered, and saide vnto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come downe from the heauen, and deuoure thee and thy fiftie. So fire came downe from the heauen, and deuoured him and his fiftie.
Elia aber antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Bin ich ein Mann Gottes, so falle Feuer vom Himmel herab und verzehre dich und deine fünfzig! Da fiel Feuer Gottes vom Himmel herab und verzehrte ihn und seine fünfzig.
13 Yet againe he sent the third captaine ouer fiftie with his fiftie. And the thirde captaine ouer fiftie went vp, and came, and fell on his knees before Eliiah, and besought him, and saide vnto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life and the life of these thy fiftie seruants be precious in thy sight.
Darauf schickte er nochmals und zwar einen dritten Hauptmann über fünfzig samt seinen fünfzig aus. Der ging hinauf, und als er hinkam, der dritte Hauptmann über die fünfzig, beugte er seine Kniee vor Elia und redete ihn flehend an: Mann Gottes, laß doch mein Leben und das Leben dieser deiner fünfzig Knechte etwas vor dir gelten!
14 Beholde, there came fire downe from the heauen and deuoured the two former captaines ouer fiftie with their fifties: therefore let my life nowe be precious in thy sight.
Siehe, Feuer ist vom Himmel gefallen und hat die beiden ersten Hauptleute über fünfzig samt ihren fünfzigen verzehrt; nun aber laß mein Leben etwas vor dir gelten!
15 And the Angel of the Lord said vnto Eliiah, Goe downe with him, be not afraide of his presence. So he arose, and went downe with him vnto the King.
Da sprach der Engel Jahwes zu Elia: Gehe mit ihm hinab, fürchte dich nicht vor ihm! Da stand er auf und ging mit ihm hinab zum Könige.
16 And he saide vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Because thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, (was it not because there was no God in Israel to inquire of his worde?) therefore thou shalt not come downe off the bed, on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die the death.
Und Elia redete zum Könige: So spricht Jahwe: Darum, daß du Boten ausgeschickt hast, um den Baal-Sebub, den Gott von Ekron, zu befragen - es giebt wohl keinen Gott in Israel, dessen Ausspruch man einholen könnte? - so sollst du von dem Bette, auf das du gestiegen bist, nicht herabsteigen, sondern sterben sollst du!
17 So he dyed according to the worde of the Lord which Eliiah had spoken. And Iehoram began to reigne in his steade, in the seconde yeere of Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, because he had no sonne.
Also starb er nach dem Worte Jahwes, das Elia geredet hatte, und sein Bruder Joram ward König an seiner Statt im zweiten Jahre Jehorams, des Sohnes Josaphats, des Königs von Juda; denn er hatte keinen Sohn.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ahaziah, that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Was aber sonst noch von Ahasja zu sagen ist, was er ausgeführt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.
