2 Kings 3

1 Nowe Iehoram the sonne of Ahab beganne to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, the eighteenth yeere of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, and reigned twelue yeeres.

Joram, Achabs son, vardt Konung öfver Israel i Samarien, uti adertonde årena Josaphats, Juda Konungs; och regerade i tolf år;

2 And he wrought euill in the sight of the Lord, but not like his father nor like his mother: for he tooke away the image of Baal that his father had made.

Och gjorde det ondt varför Herranom, dock icke såsom hans fader och hans moder; ty han kastade bort Baals stöder, som hans fader hade göra låtit.

3 Neuerthelesse, he cleaued vnto the sinnes of Ieroboam, the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne, and departed not therefrom.

Men han blef vid Jerobeams, Nebats sons, synder, hvilken kom Israel till att synda; och trädde intet derifrå.

4 Then Mesha King of Moab had store of sheepe, and rendred vnto the King of Israel an hundreth thousande lambes, and an hundreth thousande rammes with the wooll.

Men Mesa, de Moabiters Konung, hade mång får, och han skattade Israels Konunge ull af hundradetusend lamb, och af hundradetusend vädrar.

5 But when Ahab was dead, the king of Moab rebelled against the King of Israel.

Då nu Achab var död, föll de Moabiters Konung af ifrån Israels Konung.

6 Therefore King Iehoram went out of Samaria the same season, and nombred all Israel,

Då drog ut på den tiden Konung Joram af Samarien, och skickade hela Israel;

7 And went, and sent to Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, saying, The King of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou goe with me to battell against Moab? And he answered, I will goe vp: for I am, as thou art, my people, as thy people, and mine horses as thine horses.

Och sände bort till Josaphat, Juda Konung, och lät säga honom: De Moabiters Konung är affallen ifrå mig. Kom med mig till att strida emot de Moabiter. Han sade: Jag vill uppkomma; jag är såsom du, och mitt folk såsom ditt folk, och mine hästar såsom dine hästar;

8 Then said he, What way shall we goe vp? And he answered, The way of the wildernesse of Edom.

Och sade: Hvilken vägen vilje vi draga ditupp? Han sade: Den vägen igenom Edoms öken.

9 So went the King of Israel and the king of Iudah, and the King of Edom, and when they had compassed the way seuen dayes, they had no water for the hoste, nor for the cattell that followed them.

Alltså drogo åstad Israels Konung, Juda Konung, och Edoms Konung. Och som de omkringdragit hade sju dagsresor, hade hären, och de öker, som med dem voro, intet vatten.

10 Therefore the King of Israel sayde, Alas, that the Lord hath called these three Kings, to giue them into the hand of Moab.

Då sade Israels Konung: Ack, ve! Herren hafver dessa tre Konungar församlat, på det han skall gifva dem uti de Moabiters händer.

11 But Iehoshaphat saide, Is there not here a Prophet of the Lord, that we may inquire of the Lord by him? And one of the King of Israels seruants answered, and said, Here is Elisha the sonne of Shaphat, which powred water on the handes of Eliiah.

Men Josaphat sade: Är här ingen Herrans Prophet, att vi måge genom honom fråga Herran? Då svarade en ibland Israels Konungs tjenare, och sade: Här är Elisa, Saphats son, hvilken göt vatten på Elia händer.

12 Then Iehoshaphat saide, The worde of the Lord is with him. Therefore the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat, and the King of Edom went downe to him.

Josaphat sade: Herrans ord är när honom. Alltså drogo neder till honom Israels Konung, och Josaphat, och Edoms Konung.

13 And Elisha sayde vnto the King of Israel, What haue I to doe with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father and to the prophets of thy mother. And the King of Israel saide vnto him, Nay: for the Lord hath called these three Kings, to giue them into the hande of Moab.

Då sade Elisa till Israels Konung: Hvad hafver du med mig skaffa? Gack bort till dins faders Propheter, och till dine moders Propheter. Israels Konung sade till honom: Nej; ty Herren hafver församlat dessa tre Konungar, på det han skall gifva dem uti de Moabiters händer.

14 Then Elisha said, As the Lord of hostes liueth, in whose sight I stande, if it were not, that I regarde the presence of Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah, I woulde not haue looked towarde thee, nor seene thee.

Elisa sade: Så sant som Herren Zebaoth lefver, för hvilkom jag står, om jag icke ansåge Josaphat, Juda Konung, jag ville icke anse dig eller akta dig.

15 But nowe bring me a minstrel. And when the minstrel played, the hand of the Lord came vpon him.

Så låter nu en spelman komma hit. Och då spelmannen spelade på strängerna, kom Herrans hand öfver honom;

16 And he saide, Thus saith the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches.

Och han sade: Detta säger Herren: Görer grafver vid denna bäcken här och der.

17 For thus saith the Lord, Ye shall neither see winde nor see raine, yet the valley shalbe filled with water, that ye may drinke, both ye and your cattel, and your beastes.

Förty så säger Herren: I skolen intet väder eller regn se; likväl skall bäcken varda full med vatten, så att I, och edart folk, och edra öker skola få dricka.

18 But this is a small thing in the sight of the Lord: for he will giue Moab into your hande.

Dertill är detta en ringa ting för Herranom; han skall ock gifva de Moabiter i edra händer;

19 And ye shall smite euery strong towne and euery chiefe citie, and shall fell euery faire tree, and shall stoppe all the fountaines of water, and marre euery good fielde with stones.

Så att I skolen slå alla fasta städer, och alla utvalda städer, och skolen omkullhugga all god trä, och skolen förstoppa alla vattubrunnar, och skolen förderfva alla goda åkrar med stenar.

20 And in the morning whe the meat offring was offred, beholde, there came water by the way of Edom: and the countrey was filled with water.

Om morgonen, då man spisoffer offrade, si, då kom ett vatten på den vägen ifrån Edom, och fyllde landet med vatten.

21 And when al the Moabites heard that the Kings were come vp to fight against them, they gathered all that was able to put on harnesse, and vpwarde, and stood in their border.

Då nu de Moabiter hörde, att Konungarna drogo upp till att strida emot dem, kallade de tillhopa alla, som vuxne voro att bära vapen, och derutöfver, och drogo intill gränson.

22 And they rose earely in the morning, when the sunne arose vpon the water, and the Moabites saw the water ouer against them, as red as blood.

Och som de om morgonen bittida uppstode, och solen uppgick öfver vattnet, tyckte de Moabiter, att vattnet emot dem var rödt såsom blod;

23 And they saide, This is blood the Kings are surely slaine, and one hath smitten another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoyle.

Och de sade: Det är blod; Konungarna hafva slagits inbördes med svärd, och den ene hafver slagit den andra. Nu Moab, statt upp, och tag byte.

24 And when they came to the host of Israel, the Israelites arose vp, and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them, but they inuaded them, and smote Moab.

Men då de kommo till Israels lägre, reste Israel upp, och slog de Moabiter, och de flydde för dem; men de kommo in, och slogo Moab;

25 And they destroyed the cities: and on all the good field euery man cast his stone, and filled them and they stopt all the fountaines of water, and felled all the good trees: onely in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof: howebeit they went about it with slings, and smote it.

Bröto städerna neder, och hvar och en kastade sin sten på alla goda åkrar, och uppfyllde dem, och förstoppade alla vattubrunnar, och fällde all god trä, tilldess att allenast stenarna i tegelmuren qvare blefvo; och de kringhvärfde staden med slungor, och slogo honom.

26 And when the King of Moab saw that the battel was too sore for him, he tooke with him seuen hudreth men that drew the sword, to break through vnto the King of Edom: but they could not.

Då de Moabiters Konung såg att striden vardt honom för stark, tog han sjuhundrade män till sig, som svärd utdrogo, till att slå ut emot Edoms Konung; men de kunde icke.

27 Then he tooke his eldest sonne, that should haue reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offring vpon the wall: so that Israel was sore grieued, and they departed from him, and returned to their countrey.

Då tog han sin första son, som i hans stad skulle Konung vordit, och offrade honom till ett bränneoffer på muren. Då kom en stor vrede öfver Israel; så att de drogo ifrå honom, och vände till landet igen.
