2 Chronicles 9
1 And when the Queene of Sheba heard of the fame of Salomon, she came to proue Salomon with hard questions at Ierusalem, with a very great traine, and camels that bare sweete odours and much golde, and precious stones: and when she came to Salomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.
Et la reine de Séba entendit le bruit de la renommée de Salomon, et, pour mettre Salomon à l'épreuve par des énigmes, elle vint à Jérusalem avec une très grande suite, avec des chameaux portant des aromates et de l'or en quantité et des pierres précieuses; et elle entra chez Salomon et parla avec lui de tout ce qu'elle avait dans la pensée.
2 And Salomon declared her all her questions, and there was nothing hid from Salomon, which he declared not vnto her.
Et Salomon résolut toutes ses questions, et il n'y eut pas de question trop abstruse pour Salomon, dont il ne lui donnât la solution.
3 Then the Queene of Sheba sawe the wisedome of Salomon, and the house that he had buylt,
Et lorsque la reine de Séba vit la sagesse de Salomon et le palais qu'il avait bâti
4 And the meate of his table, and the sitting of his seruants, and the order of his wayters, and their apparel, and his butlers, and their apparel, and his burnt offrings which he offred in the house of the Lord, and she was greatly astonied.
et le service de sa table, et ses ministres assis et ses serviteurs debout et leur costume, et ses échansons et leur costume, et sa rampe par où on montait au Temple de l'Éternel,
5 And she saide to the King, It was a true worde which I heard in mine owne lande of thy sayings, and of thy wisedome:
elle était hors d'haleine, et elle dit au roi: Ils étaient vrais les rapports que j'ai entendus dans mon pays, sur tes circonstances et sur ta sagesse,
6 Howbeit I beleeued not their report, vntil I came, and mine eyes had seene it: and beholde, the one halfe of thy great wisedom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.
et je n'ai pas cru à leurs rapports jusqu'à ce que je suis venue et ai vu de mes yeux, et voilà qu'on ne m'a pas raconté la moitié de la grandeur de ta sagesse: tu es au-dessus de ta renommée dont j'avais entendu le bruit.
7 Happie are thy men, and happie are these thy seruants, which stande before thee alway, and heare thy wisedome.
Heureux tes gens et heureux ces tiens serviteurs debout continuellement devant toi et auditeurs de ta sagesse!
8 Blessed be the Lord thy God, which loued thee, to set thee on his throne as King, in the steade of the Lord thy God: because thy God loueth Israel, to establish it for euer, therefore hath he made thee King ouer them, to execute iudgement and iustice.
Béni soit l'Éternel, ton Dieu, qui a daigné te placer sur son trône comme roi de par l'Éternel, ton Dieu. C'est parce que ton Dieu aimait Israël pour le maintenir éternellement, qu'il t'en a établi le roi pour faire droit et justice.
9 Then she gaue the King sixe score talents of golde, and of sweete odours exceeding much and precious stones: neither was there such sweete odours since, as the Queene of Sheba gaue vnto King Salomon.
Et elle donna au roi cent vingt talents d'or et des aromates en très grande quantité et des pierres précieuses; et il n'y eut pas d'aromates pareils à ceux que la reine de Séba donna au roi Salomon.
10 And the seruants also of Huram, and the seruants of Salomon which brought golde from Ophir, brought Algummim wood and precious stones.
(Et aussi les serviteurs de Huram, et les serviteurs de Salomon qui apportèrent de l'or d'Ophir, présentèrent du bois de santal et des pierres précieuses.
11 And the King made of the Algummim wood staires in the house of the Lord, and in the Kings house, and harpes and violes for singers: and there was no such seene before in the lande of Iudah.
Et le roi fit avec le bois de santal des escaliers dans le Temple de l'Éternel et le palais royal, et des luths et des harpes pour les chantres; et il ne s'en était auparavant pas vu de pareil dans le pays de Juda.)
12 And King Salomon gaue to the Queene of Sheba euery pleasant thing that she asked, besides for that which she had brought vnto the King: so she returned and went to her owne countrey, both she, and her seruants.
Et le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Séba tout ce qui lui agréa, qu'elle lui demanda, hormis ce qu'elle avait offert au roi. Et elle s'en retourna et regagna son pays, elle et ses serviteurs.
13 Also the weight of golde that came to Salomon in one yeere, was sixe hundreth three score and sixe talents of golde,
Et le poids de l'or qui revenait par année à Salomon était de six cent soixante-six talents d'or,
14 Besides that which chapmen and marchants brought: and all the Kings of Arabia, and the princes of the countrey brought golde and siluer to Salomon.
en sus de celui qui venait des trafiquants et que les marchands apportaient; et tous les rois d'Arabie et les gouverneurs du pays apportaient de For et de l'argent pour Salomon.
15 And King Salomon made two hundreth targets of beaten golde, and sixe hundreth shekels of beaten golde went to one target,
Et le roi Salomon fit deux cents boucliers d'or battu, il étendit sur chaque bouclier six cents sicles d'or battu;
16 And three hundreth shieldes of beaten golde: three hundreth shekels of golde went to one shielde, and the King put them in the house of the wood of Lebanon.
puis trois cents rondaches d'or battu, et il étendit sur chaque rondache trois cents sicles d'or, et le roi les plaça dans le palais de la forêt du Liban.
17 And the King made a great throne of yuorie and ouerlaid it with pure golde.
Et le roi fit un grand trône d'ivoire et le recouvrit d'or pur.
18 And the throne had sixe steppes, with a footestoole of gold fastened to the throne, and stayes on either side on the place of the seate, and two lyons standing by the stayes.
Or le trône avait six marches et un marchepied d'or adapté au trône, et des accoudoirs de part et d'autre au siège, et deux lions debout à côté des accoudoirs,
19 And twelue lyons stoode there on the sixe steps on either side: there was not the like made in any kingdome.
et douze lions étaient debout là sur les six marches des deux côtés; il n'en avait jamais été fait de pareil dans aucun royaume.
20 And all King Salomons drinking vessels were of golde, and all the vessels of the house of the wood of Lebanon were of pure gold: for siluer was nothing esteemed in ye dayes of Salomon.
Et tous les vases à boire du roi Salomon étaient d'or; et tous les meubles du palais de la forêt du Liban étaient d'or de prix; l'argent n'était réputé d'aucune valeur au temps de Salomon.
21 For the Kings ships went to Tarshish with the seruants of Huram, euery three yeere once came the ships of Tarshish, and brought golde, and siluer, yuorie, and apes, and peacockes.
Car les navires du roi allaient à Tarsis avec les serviteurs de Huram; une fois en trois ans arrivaient les navires de Tarsis avec des cargaisons d'or et d'argent, d'ivoire et de singes et de paons.
22 So King Salomon excelled all the Kings of the earth in riches and wisedome.
Et le roi Salomon surpassa tous les rois de la terre en opulence et en sagesse.
23 And all the Kings of the earth sought the presence of Salomon, to heare his wisedome that God had put in his heart.
Et tous les rois de la terre recherchaient la présence de Salomon pour recueillir sa sagesse dont Dieu avait doté son cœur.
24 And they brought euery man his present, vessels of siluer, and vessels of golde, and raiment, armour, and sweet odours, horses, and mules, from yeere to yeere.
Et ils apportaient chacun son présent, de la vaisselle d'argent et de la vaisselle d'or, et des habits, des armes et des aromates, des chevaux et des mulets, année par année.
25 And Salomon had foure thousand stalles of horses, and charets, and twelue thousand horsmen, whom he bestowed in the charet cities, and with the King at Ierusalem.
Et Salomon avait quatre mille râteliers de chevaux et chars et douze mille cavaliers dont il mit le dépôt dans les villes aux chars et près du roi à Jérusalem.
26 And he reigned ouer all the Kings from the Riuer euen vnto the land of the Philistims, and to the border of Egypt.
Et il avait sous sa domination tous les rois depuis le Fleuve jusqu'au pays des Philistins et à la frontière d'Egypte.
27 And the King gaue siluer in Ierusalem, as stones, and gaue cedar trees as the wilde fig trees, that are aboundant in the plaine.
Et le roi rendit l'argent à Jérusalem commun comme les pierres, et les cèdres communs comme les sycomores qui croissent dans le pays-bas, tant il y en avait.
28 And they brought vnto Salomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all landes.
Et l'on importait pour Salomon des chevaux de l'Egypte et de tous les pays.
29 Concerning the rest of the actes of Salomon first and last, are they not written in the booke of Nathan the Prophet, and in the prophecie of Ahiiah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Ieedo the Seer against Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat?
Le reste des actes de Salomon, les premiers et les derniers, sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre de Nathan, le prophète, et dans la Prophétie d'Ahia, le Silonite, et dans les Visions de Jehdo, le Voyant, sur Jéroboam, fils de Nebat.
30 And Salomon reigned in Ierusalem ouer all Israel fourtie yeeres.
Et Salomon régna à Jérusalem sur tout Israël quarante ans.
31 And Salomon slept with his fathers, and they buryed him in the citie of Dauid his father: and Rehoboam his sonne reigned in his steade.
Et Salomon reposa à côté de ses pères et reçut la sépulture dans la Cité de David, son père. Et Roboam, son fils, devint roi en sa place.
