1 Samuel 4

1 And Samuel spake vnto all Israel: and Israel went out against the Philistims to battel and pitched beside Eben-ezer: and the Philistims pitched in Aphek.

सम्‍पूर्ण इस्राएलभरि शामूएलले वचन दिए । यति बेला इस्राएल पलिश्तीहरूका विरुद्धमा लडाइँ गर्न गयो । तिनीहरूले एबेन-एजेरमा छाउनी हाले र पलिश्‍तीहरूले अपेकमा छाउनी हाले ।

2 And the Philistims put themselues in aray against Israel: and when they ioyned the battell, Israel was smitten downe before the Philistims: who slewe of the armie in the fielde about foure thousand men.

इस्राएल विरुद्ध युद्ध गर्न पलिश्तीहरू पङ्तिबद्ध भए । जब युद्ध फैलियो, पलिश्तीहरूद्वारा इस्राएल पराजीत भयो, जसले युद्ध मैदानमा झण्डै चार हजार मानिसहरू मारे ।

3 So when the people were come into the campe, the Elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the Lord smitten vs this day before ye Philistims? let vs bring the Arke of the couenant of the Lord out of Shiloh vnto vs, that when it commeth among vs, it may saue vs out of the hande of our enemies.

जब मानिसहरू छाउनीमा आए, इस्राएलका धर्म-गुरुहरूले भने, “आज परमप्रभुले हामीलाई पलिश्‍तीहरूको सामु किन पराजीत गर्नुभयो? परमप्रभुको करारको सन्दुकलाई शीलोबाट यहाँ ल्याऔं, ताकि त्‍यो हामीसँग यहाँ नै रहोस्, जसले हामीलाई आफ्‍ना शत्रुहरूका हातबाट सुरक्षित राखोस् ।”

4 Then the people sent to Shiloh, and brought from thence the Arke of the couenant of the Lord of hostes, who dwelleth betweene the Cherubims: and there were the two sonnes of Eli, Hophni, and Phinehas, with the Arke of the couenant of God.

त्यसैले मानिसहरूले शीलोमा मानिसहरू पठाए । तिनीहरूले त्यहाँबाट सर्वशक्‍तमान् परमप्रभुको करारको सन्दुक बोके, जो करूबहरूमाथि विराजमान हुनुहुन्छ । एलीका दुई जना छोराहरू होप्‍नी र पीनहास त्यहाँ परमेश्‍वरको करारको सन्दुकसँगै थिए ।

5 And when the Arke of the couenant of the Lord came into the hoste, all Israel shouted a mightie shoute, so that the earth rang againe.

जब परमप्रभुको करारको सन्दुक छउनीमा ल्‍याइयो, इस्राएलका सबै मानिसहरू ठुलो सोरमा कराए र पृथ्वी नै गुञ्‍जियो ।

6 And when the Philistims heard the noyse of the shoute, they said, What meaneth the sound of this mightie shoute in the host of the Ebrewes? and they vnderstoode, that the Arke of the Lord was come into the hoste.

जब पलिश्तीहरूले कराएको यो आवाज सुने, तिनीहरूले भने, “हिब्रूहरूको छाउनीमा यति ठुलो कराएको आवाजको अर्थ के हो?” तब छाउनीमा परमप्रभुको सन्दुक ल्‍याइएको थियो भन्‍ने कुरा तिनीहरूले थाहा पाए ।

7 And the Philistims were afraide, and saide, God is come into the hoste: therefore saide they, Wo vnto vs: for it hath not bene so heretofore.

पलिश्तीहरू डराए । तिनीहरूले भने, “छाउनीमा एउटा देवता आएको छ ।” तिनीहरूले भने, “हामीलाई धिक्‍कार छ! पहिले यस्तो कुनै कुरा भएको छैन ।

8 Wo vnto vs, who shall deliuer vs out of the hande of these mightie Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wildernes.

हामीलाई धिक्‍कार छ! यी शक्तिशाली देवताहरूको शक्तिबाट हामीलाई कसले सुरक्षा दिन्छ? मिश्रीहरूलाई उजाड-स्‍थानमा विभिन्‍न किसिमका विपत्तिहरूले प्रहार गर्ने देवताहरू यिनै हुन् ।

9 Be strong and play the men, O Philistims, that ye be not seruants vnto the Ebrewes, as they haue serued you: be valiant therefore, and fight.

ए पलिश्तीहरू हो, साहसी होओ र पुरुषार्थी बन, नत्र जसरी हिब्रूहरू तिमीहरूका दासहरू भएका छन् त्यसरी नै तिमीहरू तिनीहरूका दासहरू बन्‍नेछौ ।”

10 And the Philistims fought, and Israel was smitten downe, and fled euery man into his tent: and there was an exceeding great slaughter: for there fell of Israel thirtie thousand footemen.

पलिश्तीहरूले यद्ध लडे, र इस्राएल पराजित भयो । हरेक मानिस आफ्नो घर भाग्‍यो र ठुलो नरसंहार भयो । किनकि इस्राएलका तिस हजार पैदल सिपाहीहरू मरे ।

11 And the Arke of God was taken, and the two sonnes of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas died.

परमेश्‍वरको सन्दुक लगियो र एलीका दुई छोरा होप्‍नी र पीनहास मरे ।

12 And there ranne a man of Beniamin out of the armie, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and earth vpon his head.

बेन्यामीनको एक जना मानिस युद्ध मैदानबाट आफ्नो लुगा च्यातिएको र शिरमा माटो लागेको अवस्‍थामा नै दौडे र त्‍यसै दिन शीलोमा आए।

13 And when hee came, loe, Eli sate vpon a seate by the wayside, wayting: for his heart feared for the Arke of God and when the man came into the citie to tell it, all the citie cried out.

त्यो आउँदा, एली आफ्नो आसनमा बाटोको छेवैमा बसेर हेरिरहेका थिए, किनभने परमेश्‍वरको सन्दुको चिन्ताले तिनको हृदय काम्यो । जब त्यो मानिस सहर प्रवेश गर्‍यो र त्‍यो खबर भन्‍यो, तब सारा सहरमा रुवाबासी भयो ।

14 And when Eli heard the noyse of the crying, he sayd, What meaneth this noyse of the tumult? and the man came in hastily, and tolde Eli.

जब एलीले रुवाबासीको हल्ला सुने, तब तिनले सोधे, “यो हल्लाखल्लाको अर्थ के हो?” त्यो मानिस दौडेर आयो र एलीलाई भन्यो ।

15 (Nowe Eli was fourescore and eighteene yeere olde, and his eyes were dimme that hee could not see)

यति बेला एली अन्ठानब्बे वर्ष भएका थिए । तिनका आँखाहरू धमिला भएका थिए र तिनले देख्‍न सक्दैनथे ।

16 And the man sayd vnto Eli, I came from the armie, and I fled this day out of the hoste: and he sayd, What thing is done, my sonne?

त्यो मानिसले एलीलाई भन्यो, “युद्ध मैदानबाट आउने मानिस म नै हुँ । म युद्धबाट आज नै भागेको हुँ ।” एलीले भने, “हे मेरो छोरो, त्‍यो कस्तो भयो त?”

17 Then the messenger answered and sayd, Israel is fled before the Philistims, and there hath bene also a great slaughter among the people: and moreouer thy two sonnes, Hophni and Phinehas are dead, and the Arke of God is taken.

सामाचार ल्याउने मानिसले जवाफ दियो र भन्‍यो, “पलिश्तीहरूको सामुबाट इस्राएली भागे । मानिसहरूका माझमा ठुलो पराजय पनि भएको छ । तपाईंका दुई छोरा होप्‍नी र पीनहास पनि मरे, र परमेश्‍वरको सन्दुक कब्जा गरेर लगिएको छ ।

18 And when he had made mention of the Arke of God, Eli fell from his seate backward by the side of the gate, and his necke was broken, and he dyed: for he was an olde man and heauie: and he had iudged Israel fourtie yeeres.

जब उसले परमेश्‍वरको सन्दुकको बारेमा भन्‍यो, तब एली ढोकाको छेउमा भएको आफ्नो आसनबाट पछाडीतिर लडे । तिनको घाँटी भाँचियो र तिनी मरे, किनभने तिनी वृद्ध र गह्रौं थिए । तिनी चालिस वर्षसम्म इस्राएलका न्यायकर्ता भएका थिए ।

19 And his daughter in lawe Phinehas wife was with childe neere her trauell: and when she heard the report that the Arke of God was taken, and that her father in lawe and her husband were dead, she bowed her selfe, and trauailed: for her paines came vpon her.

तिनकी बुहारी, पीनहासकी पत्‍नी गर्भवती थिइन् र बालक जन्माउने बेला बएको थियो । जब तिनले परमेश्‍वरको सन्दुक कब्‍जा गरेको, तिनको ससुरा र तिनको पति मरेको समाचार सुनिन्, तब तिनले घुँडा टेकिन् र बालक जन्माइन्, तर तिनको प्रसव वेदना तिनलाई सह्रै पीडा भयो ।

20 And about the time of her death, the women that stoode about her, sayd vnto her, Feare not: for thou hast borne a sonne: but she answered not, nor regarded it.

तिनको मृत्यु हुने बेलामा तिनलाई सेवा दिने स्‍त्रीले भनिन् “नडराऊ, किनकि तिमीले एउटा छोरा जन्माएकी छ्यौ ।” तर तिनले जवाफ दिइनन् न त तिनीहरूले भनेका कुरालाई नै मनमा राखिन् ।

21 And she named the childe Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel, because the Arke of God was taken, and because of her father in lawe and her husband.

“इस्राएलबाट महिमा गएको छ” भन्दै त्यो बालकको नाउँ तिनले ईकाबोद राखिन्, किनकि परमेश्‍वरको सन्दुक कब्जा गरिएको, अनि तिनका पति र ससुराको मृत्यु भएको थियो ।

22 She sayde againe, The glory is departed from Israel: for the Arke of God is taken.

तिनले भनिन्, “महिमा इस्राएलबाट गएको छ, किनभने परमेश्‍वरको सन्दुक कब्जा गरिएको छ ।”
