1 Kings 16
1 Then the word of the Lord came to Iehu the sonne of Hanani against Baasha, saying,
La parole de Yahweh fut adressée à Jéhu, fils de Hanani, contre Baasa, en ces termes:
2 Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee captaine ouer my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Ieroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sinne, to prouoke me with their sinnes,
« Je t'ai élevé de la poussière et je t'ai établi chef de mon peuple d'Israël; mais tu as marché dans la voie de Jéroboam et tu as fait pécher mon peuple d'Israël, pour m'irriter par leurs péchés.
3 Beholde, I will take away the posteritie of Baasha, and the posteritie of his house, and will make thine house like the house of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat.
C'est pourquoi voici que je vais balayer Baasa et sa maison, et je rendrai ta maison semblable à la maison de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat.
4 He that dyeth of Baashas stocke in the citie, him shall the dogs eate: and that man of him which dyeth in the fieldes, shall the foules of the ayre eate.
Celui de la maison de Baasa qui mourra dans la ville sera mangé par les chiens, et celui des siens qui mourra dans les champs sera mangé par les oiseaux du ciel. »
5 And the rest of the actes of Baasha and what he did, and his power, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
Le reste des actes de Baasa, ce qu'il a fait et ses exploits, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans la Chroniques des roi d'Israël?
6 So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buryed in Tirzah, and Elah his sonne reigned in his steade.
Baasa se coucha avec ses pères et il fut enterré à Thersa; et Ela, son fils, régna à sa place.
7 And also by the hande of Iehu the sonne of Hanani the Prophet, came the worde of the Lord to Baasha, and to his house, that he shoulde be like the house of Ieroboam, euen for all the wickednes that he did in the sight of the Lord, in prouoking him with the worke of his hands, and because he killed him.
La parole de Yahweh fut aussi dirigée par l'organe du prophète Jéhu, fils de Hanani, contre Baasa et contre sa maison, soit à cause de tout le mal qu'il avait fait sous les yeux de Yahweh, en l'irritant par l'œuvre de ses mains et en devenant semblable à la maison de Jéroboam, soit encore parce qu'il avait frappé cette maison.
8 In the sixe and twentie yeere of Asa king of Iudah began Elah ye sonne of Baasha to reigne ouer Israel in Tirzah, and reigned two yeere.
La vingt-sixième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Ela, fils de Baasa, devint roi d'Israël à Thersa, et il régna deux ans.
9 And his seruant Zimri, captaine of halfe his charets, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah drinking, til he was drunken in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah.
Son serviteur Zambri, chef de la moitié des chars, conspira contre lui. Ela était à Thersa, buvant et s'enivrant dans la maison d'Arsa, qui était préposé à la maison du roi à Thersa.
10 And Zimri came and smote him and killed him, in the seuen and twentie yeere of Asa king of Iudah, and reigned in his stead.
Zambri entra, le frappa et le tua, la vingt-septième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et il régna à sa place.
11 And when he was King, and sate on his throne, he slew al the house of Baasha, not leauing thereof one to pisse against a wall, neither of his kinsfolkes nor of his friendes.
Lorsqu'il fut devenu roi et qu'il fut assis sur son trône, il frappa toute la maison de Baasa, ne laissant vivre aucun enfant mâle, ni aucun de ses parents et de ses amis.
12 So did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the Lord which he spake against Baasha by the hande of Iehu the Prophet,
C'est ainsi que Zambri détruisit toute la maison de Baasa, selon la parole de Yahweh qu'il avait dite contre Baasa par l'organe de Jéhu, le prophète,
13 For all the sinnes of Baasha, and sinnes of Elah his sonne, which they sinned and made Israel to sinne, and prouoked the Lord God of Israel with their vanities.
à cause de tous les péchés que Baasa et Ela, son fils, avaient commis et qu'ils avaient fait commettre à Israël, irritant par leurs idoles Yahweh, le Dieu d'Israël.
14 And the rest of the actes of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le reste des actes d'Ela, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
15 In the seuen and twentie yeere of Asa King of Iudah did Zimri reigne seuen dayes in Tirzah, and the people was then in campe against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistims.
La vingt-septième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Zambri fut roi pendant sept jours à Thersa. Le peuple était alors campé vis-à-vis de Gebbéthon, qui appartenait aux Philistins.
16 And the people of the hoste heard saye, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also slayne the King. Wherefore all Israel made Omri the captaine of the hoste, king ouer Israel that same day, euen in the hoste.
Et le peuple qui campait apprit cette nouvelle: « Zambri a conspiré, et même il a tué le roi! » Le jour même, dans le camp, tout Israël établit pour roi d'Israël Amri, chef de l'armée.
17 Then Omri went vp from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.
Amri et tout Israël avec lui montèrent de Gebbéthon et vinrent assiéger Thersa.
18 And when Zimri saw, that the citie was taken, he went into the palace of the Kings house, and burnt himselfe, and the Kings house with fire, and so dyed,
Lorsqu'il vit la ville prise, Zambri se retira dans la citadelle de la maison du roi et brûla sur lui la maison du roi. C'est ainsi qu'il mourut,
19 For his sinnes which hee sinned, in doing that which is euil in the sight of the Lord, in walking in the way of Ieroboam, and in his sinnes which he did, causing Israel to sinne.
à cause des péchés qu'il avait commis, en faisant ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, et en marchant dans la voie de Jéroboam et dans le péché que Jéroboam avait commis pour faire pécher Israël.
20 And the rest of the actes of Zimri, and his treason that hee wrought, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kinges of Israel?
Le reste des actes de Zambri, et le complot qu'il forma, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
21 Then were the people of Israel deuided into two partes: for halfe the people followed Tibni the sonne of Ginath to make him King, and the other halfe followed Omri.
Le peuple d'Israël se divisa alors en deux partis: la moitié du peuple était pour Thebni, fils de Gineth, pour le faire roi, et l'autre moitié était pour Amri.
22 But the people that folowed Omri, preuayled against the people that followed Tibni the sonne of Ginath: so Tibni dyed, and Omri reigned.
Ceux qui suivaient Amri l'emportèrent sur ceux qui suivaient Thebni, fils de Gineth. Thebni mourut, et Amri régna.
23 In the one and thirtie yeere of Asa King of Iudah bega Omri to reigne ouer Israel, and reigned twelue yeere. Sixe yeere reigned he in Tirzah.
La trente et unième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Amri devint roi d'Israël, et il régna douze ans.
24 And he bought the mountaine Samaria of one Shemer for two talents of siluer, and buylt in the mountaine, and called the name of the citie, which he buylt, after the name of Shemer lord of the mountaine, Samaria.
Lorsqu'il eut régné six ans à Thersa, il acheta de Somer la montagne de Samarie pour deux talents d'argent; puis il bâtit sur la montagne, et il donna à la ville qu'il avait bâtie le nom de Samarie, du nom de Somer, à qui la montagne appartenait.
25 But Omri did euil in the eyes of the Lord, and did worse then all that were before him.
Amri fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, et il agit plus mal que tous ceux qui avaient régné avant lui.
26 For he walked in all the way of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, and in his sinnes wherewith he made Israel to sinne in prouoking the Lord God of Israel with their vanities.
Il marcha dans toute la voie de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, et dans les péchés que Jéroboam avait fait commettre à Israël, irritant par leurs idoles Yahweh, le Dieu d'Israël.
27 And the rest of the actes of Omri, that hee did, and his strength that he shewed, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le reste des actes d'Amri, ce qu'il a fait, et les exploits qu'il a accomplis, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
28 And Omri slept with his fathers, and was buryed in Samaria: and Ahab his sonne reigned in his stead.
Amri se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Samarie. Achab, son fils, régna à sa place.
29 Nowe Ahab the sonne of Omri began to reigne ouer Israel, in the eyght and thirtie yeere of Asa king of Iudah: and Ahab the sonne of Omri reigned ouer Israel in Samaria two and twenty yere.
Achab, fils d'Amri, devint roi d'Israël la trente-huitième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et Achab, fils d'Amri, régna vingt-deux ans sur Israël à Samarie.
30 And Ahab the sonne of Omri did worse in ye sight of the Lord then al that were before him.
Achab, fils d'Amri, fit ce qui est mal aux yeux du Seigneur, plus que tous ceux qui avaient été avant lui.
31 For was it a light thing for him to walke in the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, except hee tooke Iezebel also the daughter of Ethbaal King of the Zidonians to wife, and went and serued Baal, and worshipped him?
Comme si c'eût été pour lui peu de chose de marcher dans les péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, il prit pour femme Jézabel, fille d'Ethbaal, roi des Sidoniens, et il alla servir Baal et se prosterner devant lui.
32 Also he reared vp an altar to Baal in the house of Baal, which he had buylt in Samaria.
Il éleva un autel à Baal dans la maison de Baal, qu'il bâtit à Samarie;
33 And Ahab made a groue, and Ahab proceeded, and did prouoke the Lord God of Israel more then all the kings of Israel that were before him.
Achab fit aussi l'aschérah. Achab fit plus encore que tous les rois d'Israël qui avaient été avant lui pour irriter Yahweh, le Dieu d'Israël.
34 In his dayes did Hiel the Bethelite buylde Iericho: he layed the foundation thereof in Abiram his eldest sonne, and set vp the gates thereof in his yongest sonne Segub, according to the worde of the Lord which he spake by Ioshua the sonne of Nun.
De son temps, Hiel de Béthel bâtit Jéricho; il en jeta les fondements au prix d'Abiram, son premier-né, et il en posa les portes au prix de Ségub, son dernier fils, selon la parole de Yahweh, qu'il avait dite par l'organe de Josué, fils de Nun.
