1 Chronicles 4
1 The sonnes of Iudah were Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.
Fils de Juda: Pharès, Hesron, Charmi, Hur et Sobal. —
2 And Reaiah the sonne of Shobal begat Iahath, and Iahath begate Ahumai, and Lahad: these are the families of the Zoreathites.
Raïa, fils de Sobal, engendra Jahath; Jahath engendra Achamaï et Lahad. Ce sont les familles des Saréens.
3 And these were of the father of Etam, Izreel, and Ishma and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi.
Voici les descendants du père d'Etam: Jezrahel, Jéséma et Jédébos; le nom de leur sœur était Asalelphuni.
4 And Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah: these are the sonnes of Hur the eldest sonne of Ephratah, the father of Beth-lehem.
Phanuel fut le père de Gédor, et Ezer celui de Hosa. Ce sont là les fils de Hur, premier-né d'Ephrata, père de Bethléem.
5 But Asher the father of Tekoa had two wiues, Heleah, and Naarah.
Assur, père de Thécué, eut deux femmes: Halaa et Naara.
6 And Naarah bare him Ahuzam, and Hepher, and Temeni and Haashtari: these were the sonnes of Naarah.
Naara lui enfanta Oozam, Hépher, Thémani et Ahasthari: ce sont là les fils de Naara. —
7 And the sonnes of Heleah were Zereth, Iezohar and Ethnan.
Fils de Halaa: Séreth, Isaar et Ethnan.
8 Also Coz begate Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the sonne of Harum.
Cos engendra Anob et Soboba, et les familles d'Aharéhel, fils d'Arum.
9 But Iabez was more honourable then his brethren: and his mother called his name Iabez, saying, Because I bare him in sorowe.
Jabès était plus honoré que ses frères; sa mère lui donna le nom de Jabès, en disant: " C'est parce que je l'ai enfanté avec douleur. "
10 And Iabez called on the God of Israel, saying, If thou wilt blesse me in deede, and enlarge my coastes, and if thine hand be with me, and thou wilt cause me to be deliuered from euill, that I be not hurt. And God graunted the thing that he asked.
Jabès invoqua le Dieu d'Israël en disant: " Si vous me bénissez et que vous étendiez mes limites, si votre main est avec moi et si vous me préservez du malheur, en sorte que je ne sois pas dans l'affliction!... " Et Dieu lui accorda ce qu'il avait demandé.
11 And Chelub the brother of Shuah begate Mehir, which was the father of Eshton.
Kélub, frère de Sua, engendra Mahir, qui fut père d'Esthon.
12 And Eshton begate Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of the citie of Nahash: these are the men of Rechah.
Esthon engendra la maison de Rapha, Phessé et Tehinna, père de la ville de Naas. Ce sont là les hommes de Récha.
13 And the sonnes of Kenaz were Othniel and Zeraiah, and the sonne of Othniel, Hathath.
Fils de Cénez: Othoniel et Saraïa. — Fils d'Othoniel: Hathath et Maonathi;
14 And Meonothai begate Ophrah. And Seraiah begate Ioab the father of the valley of craftesmen: for they were craftesmen.
Maonathi engendra Ophra — Saraïa engendra Joab, père de ceux qui habitaient la vallée de Charaschim, car ils étaient ouvriers. —
15 And the sonnes of Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh were Iru, Elah, and Naam. And the sonne of Elah was Kenaz.
Fils de Caleb, fils de Jéphoné: Hir, Ela et Maham. — Fils d'Ela: Cénez.
16 And the sonnes of Iehaleel were Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel.
Fils de Jaléléel: Ziph, Zipha, Thiria et Asraël.
17 And the sonnes of Ezrah were Iether and Mered, and Epher, and Ialon, and he begate Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
Fils d'Esra: Jéther, Méred, Epher et Jalon. La femme de Méred, l'Egyptienne, enfanta Mariam, Sammaï et Jesba, père d'Esthamo.
18 Also his wife Iehudiiah bare Iered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Iekuthiel the father of Zanoah: and these are the sonnes of Bithiah ye daughter of Pharaoh which Mered tooke.
Son autre femme, la Juive, enfanta Jared, père de Gédor, Héber, père de Socho, et Icuthiel, père de Zanoé. Ceux-là sont les fils de Béthia, fille de Pharaon, que Méred avait prise pour femme.
19 And the sonnes of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham the father of Keilah were the Garmites, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite.
Fils de la femme d'Odaïa, sœur de Naham: le père de Céïla, le Garmien, et le père d'Esthamo, le Machathien.
20 And the sonnes of Shimon were Amnon and Rinnah, Ben-hanam and Tilon. And the sonnes of Ishi were Zoheth, and Benzoheth.
Fils de Simon: Amnon, Rinna, Ben-Hanan et Thilon. Fils de Jési: Zoheth et Ben-Zoheth.
21 The sonnes of Shelah, the sonne of Iudah were Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the householdes of them that wrought fine linnen in the house of Ashbea.
Fils de Séla, fils de Juda: Her, père de Lécha, Laada, père de Marésa, et les familles de la maison où l'on travaille le byssus, de la maison d'Aschbéa,
22 And Iokim and the men of Chozeba and Ioash, and Saraph, which had the dominion in Moab, and Iashubi Lehem. These also are auncient things.
et Jokim, et les hommes de Cozéba, et Joas, et Saraph, qui dominèrent sur Moab, et Jaschubi-Léchem. Ces choses sont anciennes.
23 These were potters, and dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his worke.
C'étaient les potiers et les habitants de Nétaïm et de Gédéra; ils demeuraient là, près du roi, travaillant pour lui.
24 The sonnes of Simeon were Nemuel, and Iamin, Iarib, Zerah, and Shaul,
Fils de Siméon: Namuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zara, Saül.
25 Whose sonne was Shallum, and his sonne, Mibsam, and his sonne Mishma.
Sellum, son fils; Madsam, son fils; Masma, son Fils. —
26 And the sonnes of Mishma, Hamuel was his sonne, Zacchur his sonne, and Shimei his sonne.
Fils de Masma: Hamuel, son fils; Zachur, son fils; Séméï, son fils. —
27 And Shimei had sixteene sonnes, and sixe daughters, but his brethren had not many children, neither was all their familie like to the children of Iudah in multitude.
Séméï eut seize fils et six filles; ses frères n'eurent pas beaucoup de fils, et toutes leurs familles ne se multiplièrent pas autant que les fils de Juda.
28 And they dwelt at Beer-sheba, and at Moladah, and at Hazar Shual,
Ils habitaient à Bersabée, à Molada, à Hasar-Suhal,
29 And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,
à Bala, à Asom, à Tholad,
30 And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,
à Bathuel, à Horma, à Sicéleg,
31 And at Beth-marcaboth, and at Hazar Susim, at Beth-birei, and at Shaaraim, these were their cities vnto the reigne of Dauid.
à Beth-Marchaboth, à Hasar-Susim, à Beth-Béraï et à Saarim: ce furent là leurs villes jusqu'au règne de David,
32 And their townes were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, fiue cities.
et leurs villages. Ils avaient encore: Etam, Aën, Remmon, Thochen et Asan, cinq villes,
33 And all their townes that were rounde about these cities vnto Baal, These are their habitations and the declaration of their genealogie,
et tous leurs villages, qui étaient aux environs de ces villes, jusqu'à Baal. Voilà leurs habitations, et leurs registres généalogiques.
34 And Meshobab, and Iamlech, and Ioshah the sonne of Amashiah,
Mosobab, Jemlech, Josa, fils d'Amasias,
35 And Ioel and Iehu the sonne of Ioshibiah, the sonne of Seraiah, the sonne of Asiel,
Joël, Jéhu, fils de Josabias, fils de Saraïas, fils d'Asiel,
36 And Elionai, and Iaakobah, and Ieshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Iesimiel, and Benaiah,
Elioénaï, Jacoba, Isuhaïa, Asaïa, Adiel, Ismiel, Banaïa,
37 And Ziza the sonne of Shiphei, the sonne of Allon, the sonne of Iedaiah, the sonne of Shimri, the sonne of Shemaiah.
Ziza, fils de Séphéï, fils d'Allon, fils d'Idaïa, fils de Semri, fils de Samaïa.
38 These were famous princes in their families, and increased greatly their fathers houses.
Ces hommes désignés par leurs noms étaient princes dans leurs familles. Leurs maisons patriarcales ayant pris un grand accroissement,
39 And they went to the entring in of Gedor, euen vnto the East side of the valley, to seeke pasture for their sheepe.
ils allèrent vers l'entrée de Gador, jusqu'à l'orient de la vallée, afin de chercher des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
40 And they found fat pasture and good, and a wide land, both quiet and fruitfull: for they of Ham had dwelt there before.
Ils trouvèrent des pâturages gras et bons, et un territoire spacieux, tranquille et paisible; ceux qui y habitaient auparavant provenaient de Cham.
41 And these described by name, came in the dayes of Hezekiah king of Iudah, and smote their tents, and the inhabitants that were found there, and destroyed them vtterly vnto this day, and dwelt in their roume, because there was pasture there for their sheepe.
Ces hommes, inscrits par leurs noms, arrivèrent du temps d'Ezéchias, roi de Juda; ils détruisirent leurs tentes, ainsi que les Maonites qui se trouvaient là et, les ayant dévoués à l'anathème jusqu'à ce jour, ils s'établirent à leur place, car il y avait là des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
42 And besides these, fiue hundreth men of the sonnes of Simeon went to mount Seir, and Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rophaiah, and Vzziel the sonnes of Ishi were their captaines,
Des fils de Siméon allèrent aussi à la montagne de Séïr, au nombre de cinq cents hommes; Phaltias, Naarias, Raphaïas et Oziel, fils de Jési, étaient à leur tête.
43 And they smote the rest of Amalek that had escaped, and they dwelt there vnto this day.
Ils battirent le reste des Amalécites qui avaient échappé, et ils s'établirent là jusqu'à ce jour.
