1 Then all Israel gathered themselues to Dauid vnto Hebron, saying, Beholde, we are thy bones and thy flesh.

१तब सब इस्राएली दाऊद के पास हेब्रोन में इकट्ठे होकर कहने लगे, “सुन, हम लोग और तू एक ही हड्डी और माँस हैं।

2 And in time past, euen when Saul was King, thou leddest Israel out and in: and the Lord thy God sayde vnto thee, Thou shalt feede my people Israel, and thou shalt be captaine ouer my people Israel.

२पिछले दिनों में जब शाऊल राजा था, तब भी इस्राएलियों का अगुआ तू ही था, और तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने तुझ से कहा, ‘मेरी प्रजा इस्राएल का चरवाहा, और मेरी प्रजा इस्राएल का प्रधान, तू ही होगा।’”

3 So came all the Elders of Israel to the King to Hebron, and Dauid made a couenant with them in Hebron before the Lord. And they anoynted Dauid King ouer Israel, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Samuel.

३इसलिए सब इस्राएली पुरनिये हेब्रोन में राजा के पास आए, और दाऊद ने उनके साथ हेब्रोन में यहोवा के सामने वाचा बाँधी; और उन्होंने यहोवा के वचन के अनुसार, जो उसने शमूएल से कहा था, इस्राएल का राजा होने के लिये दाऊद का अभिषेक किया।

4 And Dauid and all Israel went to Ierusalem, which is Iebus, where were the Iebusites, the inhabitants of the land.

४तब सब इस्राएलियों समेत दाऊद यरूशलेम गया, जो यबूस भी कहलाता था, और वहाँ यबूसी नामक उस देश के निवासी रहते थे।

5 And the inhabitants of Iebus said to Dauid, Thou shalt not come in hither. Neuertheles Dauid tooke the towre of Zion, which is the city of Dauid.

५तब यबूस के निवासियों ने दाऊद से कहा, “तू यहाँ आने नहीं पाएगा।” तो भी दाऊद ने सिय्योन नामक गढ़ को ले लिया, वही दाऊदपुर भी कहलाता है।

6 And Dauid sayd, Whosoeuer smiteth the Iebusites first, shalbe the chiefe and captaine. So Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah went first vp, and was captaine.

६दाऊद ने कहा, “जो कोई यबूसियों को सबसे पहले मारेगा, वह मुख्य सेनापति होगा,” तब सरूयाह का पुत्र योआब सबसे पहले चढ़ गया, और सेनापति बन गया।

7 And Dauid dwelt in the tower: therefore they called it the citie of Dauid.

७तब दाऊद उस गढ़ में रहने लगा, इसलिए उसका नाम दाऊदपुर पड़ा।

8 And he built the citie on euery side, from Millo euen round about, and Ioab repaired the rest of the citie.

८और उसने नगर के चारों ओर, अर्थात् मिल्लो से लेकर चारों ओर शहरपनाह बनवाई, और योआब ने शेष नगर के खण्डहरों को फिर बसाया।

9 And Dauid prospered, and grewe: for the Lord of hostes was with him.

९और दाऊद की प्रतिष्ठा अधिक बढ़ती गई और सेनाओं का यहोवा उसके संग था।

10 These also are the chiefe of the valiant men that were with Dauid, and ioyned their force with him in his kingdome with al Israel, to make him King ouer Israel, according to the worde of the Lord.

१०यहोवा ने इस्राएल के विषय जो वचन कहा था, उसके अनुसार दाऊद के जिन शूरवीरों ने सब इस्राएलियों समेत उसके राज्य में उसके पक्ष में होकर, उसे राजा बनाने को जोर दिया, उनमें से मुख्य पुरुष ये हैं।

11 And this is the nomber of the valiant men whome Dauid had, Iashobeam the sonne of Hachmoni, the chiefe among thirtie: he lift vp his speare against three hundreth, whom he slewe at one time.

११दाऊद के शूरवीरों की नामावली यह है, अर्थात् एक हक्मोनी का पुत्र याशोबाम जो तीसों में मुख्य था, उसने तीन सौ पुरुषों पर भाला चलाकर, उन्हें एक ही समय में मार डाला।

12 And after him was Eleazar the sonne of Dodo the Ahohite, which was one of the three valiant men.

१२उसके बाद अहोही दोदो का पुत्र एलीआजर जो तीनों महान वीरों में से एक था।

13 He was with Dauid at Pas-dammim, and there the Philistims were gathered together to battel: and there was a parcell of ground full of barley, and the people fled before the Philistims.

१३वह पसदम्मीम में जहाँ जौ का एक खेत था, दाऊद के संग रहा जब पलिश्ती वहाँ युद्ध करने को इकट्ठे हुए थे, और लोग पलिश्तियों के सामने से भाग गए।

14 And they stood in the middes of the field, and saued it, and slewe the Philistims: so the Lord gaue a great victorie.

१४तब उन्होंने उस खेत के बीच में खड़े होकर उसकी रक्षा की, और पलिश्तियों को मारा, और यहोवा ने उनका बड़ा उद्धार किया।

15 And three of the thirtie captaines went to a rocke to Dauid, into the caue of Adullam. And the armie of the Philistims camped in the valley of Rephaim.

१५तीसों मुख्य पुरुषों में से तीन दाऊद के पास चट्टान को, अर्थात् अदुल्लाम नामक गुफा में गए, और पलिश्तियों की छावनी रपाईम नामक तराई में पड़ी हुई थी।

16 And when Dauid was in the hold, the Philistims garison was at Beth-lehem.

१६उस समय दाऊद गढ़ में था, और उस समय पलिश्तियों की एक चौकी बैतलहम में थी।

17 And Dauid longed, and said, Oh, that one would giue me to drinke of the water of the well of Beth-lehem that is at the gate.

१७तब दाऊद ने बड़ी अभिलाषा के साथ कहा, “कौन मुझे बैतलहम के फाटक के पास के कुएँ का पानी पिलाएगा।”

18 Then these three brake thorowe the hoste of the Philistims, and drewe water out of the well of Beth-lehem that was by the gate, and tooke it and brought it to Dauid: but Dauid would not drinke of it, but powred it for an oblation to the Lord,

१८तब वे तीनों जन पलिश्तियों की छावनी पर टूट पड़े और बैतलहम के फाटक के कुएँ से पानी भरकर दाऊद के पास ले आए; परन्तु दाऊद ने पीने से इन्कार किया और यहोवा के सामने अर्घ करके उण्डेला:

19 And said, Let not my God suffer me to do this: should I drinke the blood of these mens liues? for they haue brought it with the ieopardie of their liues: therefore he would not drinke it: these things did these three mightie men.

१९और उसने कहा, “मेरा परमेश्वर मुझसे ऐसा करना दूर रखे। क्या मैं इन मनुष्यों का लहू पीऊँ जिन्होंने अपने प्राणों पर खेला है? ये तो अपने प्राण पर खेलकर उसे ले आए हैं।” इसलिए उसने वह पानी पीने से इन्कार किया। इन तीन वीरों ने ये ही काम किए।

20 And Abishai the brother of Ioab, he was chiefe of the three, and he lift vp his speare against three hundreth, and slew them, and had the name among the three.

२०अबीशै जो योआब का भाई था, वह तीनों में मुख्य था। उसने अपना भाला चलाकर तीन सौ को मार डाला और तीनों में नामी हो गया।

21 Among the three he was more honourable then the two, and he was their captaine: but he attained not vnto the first three.

२१दूसरी श्रेणी के तीनों में वह अधिक प्रतिष्ठित था, और उनका प्रधान हो गया, परन्तु मुख्य तीनों के पद को न पहुँचा

22 Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada (the sonne of a valiant man) which had done many actes, and was of Kabzeel, he slewe two strong men of Moab: he went downe also and slewe a lion in the middes of a pit in time of snowe.

२२यहोयादा का पुत्र बनायाह था, जो कबसेल के एक वीर का पुत्र था, जिसने बड़े-बड़े काम किए थे, उसने सिंह समान दो मोआबियों को मार डाला, और हिमऋतु में उसने एक गड्ढे में उतर के एक सिंह को मार डाला।

23 And he slewe an Egyptian, a man of great stature, euen fiue cubites long, and in the Egyptians hand was a speare like a weauers beame: and he went downe to him with a staffe, and plucked the speare out of the Egyptians hand, and slewe him with his owne speare.

२३फिर उसने एक डील-डौलवाले अर्थात् पाँच हाथ लम्बे मिस्री पुरुष को मार डाला, वह मिस्री हाथ में जुलाहों का ढेका-सा एक भाला लिए हुए था, परन्तु बनायाह एक लाठी ही लिए हुए उसके पास गया, और मिस्री के हाथ से भाले को छीनकर उसी के भाले से उसे घात किया।

24 These things did Benaiah ye sonne of Iehoiada, and had the name among the three worthies.

२४ऐसे-ऐसे काम करके यहोयादा का पुत्र बनायाह उन तीनों वीरों में नामी हो गया।

25 Behold, he was honourable among thirtie, but he attained not vnto the first three. And Dauid made him of his counsell.

२५वह तो तीसों से अधिक प्रतिष्ठित था, परन्तु मुख्य तीनों के पद को न पहुँचा। उसको दाऊद ने अपने अंगरक्षकों का प्रधान नियुक्त किया।

26 These also were valiant men of warre, Asahel the brother of Ioab, Elhanan the sonne of Dodo of Beth-lehem,

२६फिर दलों के वीर ये थे, अर्थात् योआब का भाई असाहेल, बैतलहमी दोदो का पुत्र एल्हनान,

27 Shammoth the Harodite, Helez the Pelonite,

२७हरोरी शम्मोत, पलोनी हेलेस,

28 Ira the sonne of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Antothite,

२८तकोई इक्केश का पुत्र ईरा, अनातोती अबीएजेर,

29 Sibbecai the Husathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

२९सिब्बकै हूशाई, अहोही ईलै,
