< Psalms 48 >
1 For the music director. A psalm of the sons of Korah. The Lord is supreme! He deserves praise in the city of our God on his holy mountain.
Thaburi ya Ariũ a Kora Jehova nĩ mũnene, na nĩ wa kũgoocwo mũno, arĩ kũu thĩinĩ wa itũũra inene rĩa Ngai witũ, o kĩrĩma-inĩ gĩake kĩrĩa kĩamũre.
2 Mount Zion is high and beautiful, bringing happiness to all the earth; on the northern side is the city of the great King.
Kĩrĩma kĩu kĩa Ngai nĩ gĩthaka na gĩkaraiha na igũrũ, na nĩkĩo gĩkeno gĩa thĩ yothe. O ta ũrĩa Zafoni gũtũgĩrĩte na igũrũ mũno, no taguo Kĩrĩma gĩa Zayuni kĩhaana, itũũra rĩu inene rĩa Mũthamaki ũrĩa Mũnene.
3 God himself is in the city's fortresses; he is recognized as its defender.
Ngai arĩ thĩinĩ wa ciikaro iria ngitĩre cia mũthamaki; nake nĩeyonanĩtie atĩ nĩwe kĩirigo gĩacio kĩa hinya.
4 Look at what happened when foreign kings joined forces and came to attack the city.
Rĩrĩa athamaki maanyiitanire hamwe na magĩthiĩ magatharĩkĩre itũũra rĩu,
5 As soon as they saw it they were astonished and ran away terrified.
maarĩonire, magĩtuĩka nda; makĩũra nĩ kĩmako kĩnene.
6 They shook all over, and were in agonizing pain like a woman giving birth,
O hau-hau makĩnyiitwo nĩ kũinaina, makĩgĩa na ruo ta rwa mũndũ-wa-nja akĩrũmwo.
7 just as the strong east wind wrecks the ships from Tarshish.
Wamanangire o ta ũrĩa marikabu cia Tarishishi cianangagwo nĩ rũhuho ruumĩte mwena wa irathĩro.
8 Just as we had heard, but now we have seen the city of the Lord Almighty. This is the city of our God; he makes it secure forever. (Selah)
O ta ũrĩa tũiguĩte, ũguo noguo tuonete thĩinĩ wa itũũra inene rĩa Jehova Mwene-Hinya-Wothe, itũũra rĩu inene rĩa Ngai witũ: Ngai egũtũũra arĩgitagĩra nginya tene.
9 God, we recall your trustworthy love as we worship in the Temple.
Tũrĩ thĩinĩ wa hekarũ yaku, Wee Ngai, twĩcũũranagia ũhoro wa wendo waku ũrĩa ũtathiraga.
10 As is fitting for your reputation, God, praises to you stretch all around the world. What you do is always right!
O ta ũrĩa rĩĩtwa rĩaku rĩtariĩ, Wee Ngai, ũguo noguo ngumo yaku ĩigana o nginya ituri-inĩ cia thĩ; guoko gwaku kwa ũrĩo kũiyũrĩtwo nĩ ũthingu.
11 Let the people of Mount Zion be glad; let the people of Judah celebrate because your judgments are always fair!
Kĩrĩma gĩa Zayuni nĩgĩkenaga, namo matũũra ma Juda magacanjamũka nĩ ũndũ wa matuĩro maku ma ciira.
12 Go and take a look at Zion. Count the towers as you walk around.
Ceeraceerai Zayuni, mũrĩthiũrũrũke, mũtare mĩthiringo yarĩo ĩrĩa mĩraihu na igũrũ,
13 Inspect the fortifications. Examine the citadels, so you can describe everything to the next generation, telling them:
mũrore ũrĩa kũirigĩtwo na hinya, na mũrore ciikaro iria ngitĩre cia mũthamaki, nĩgeetha mũkeeraga rũciaro rũrĩa rũgooka ũhoro wacio.
14 “This is who our God is. He is our God forever and ever. He himself will lead us until the very end.”
Nĩgũkorwo Ngai ũyũ nĩwe Ngai witũ nginya tene na tene; egũtũũra atũtongoragia nginya hĩndĩ ĩtagathira.
