< Psalms 129 >

1 A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. Many enemies have attacked from the time I was young. Let everyone in Israel say:
Ko e Hiva ʻae ʻalu hake. ‌ʻOku totonu ke lea ni ʻa ʻIsileli, Kuo liunga lahi ʻenau fakamamahiʻi au talu ʻeku kei talavou:
2 Many enemies have attacked from the time I was young, but they never defeated me.
“Kuo liunga lahi ʻenau fakamamahiʻi au talu ʻeku talavou: ka naʻe ʻikai tenau mālohi kiate au.
3 They beat me on my back, leaving long furrows as if it had been ploughed by a farmer.
Naʻe keli ʻae kau tangata keli ʻi hoku tuʻa: naʻa nau ngaohi ke lōloa ʻenau ngaahi keli.
4 But the Lord does what is right: he has cut me free from the ropes of the wicked.
‌ʻOku angatonu ʻa Sihova: kuo tuʻusi ʻe ia ʻae ngaahi afo ʻae kakai angahala.”
5 May everyone who hates Zion be driven back in humiliating defeat.
Tuku ke puputuʻu pea foki kimui ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku fehiʻa ki Saione.
6 May they be like grass that grows on a roof that withers before it can be harvested,
Tuku kenau tatau mo e mohuku ʻi he tatā ʻoe fale, ʻaia ʻoku mae ʻi he teʻeki ai ke lahi ia:
7 There's not enough even for a reaper to hold, not enough even for the binder to bind.
‌ʻAia ʻoku ʻikai fakapito ʻaki ʻe he tangata tuʻusi ʻa hono nima; pe ko e fatafata ʻo ia ʻoku ne nonoʻo ʻae ngaahi ʻū mohuku.
8 May passers-by not say to them, “The blessing of the Lord be on you; we bless you in the name of the Lord.”
Pea ʻoku ʻikai lea ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻalu ʻi ai, ʻo pehē, “Ke ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae monūʻia meia Sihova: ʻoku mau tāpuaki ʻakimoutolu ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova.”
