Genesis 39
1 Joseph had been taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelites, who had sold him to Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh's officers, the commander of the royal guard.
१योसेफाला खाली मिसरात आणले. फारो राजाचा एक मिसरी अधिकारी, संरक्षक दलाचा सरदार पोटीफर, याने त्यास इश्माएली लोकांकडून विकत घेतले.
2 The Lord was with Joseph and made him successful. He lived in his Egyptian master's house.
२परमेश्वर देव योसेफाबरोबर होता. तो यशस्वी पुरुष होता. तो आपल्या मिसरी धन्याच्या घरी राहत असे.
3 His master noticed that the Lord was with him and made him successful in everything he did.
३परमेश्वर देव त्याच्याबरोबर आहे आणि म्हणून जे काही तो करतो त्या प्रत्येक कामात परमेश्वर देव त्यास यश देतो, हे त्याच्या धन्याला दिसून आले.
4 Potiphar appreciated Joseph and his service, and put him in charge of his household and made him responsible for everything he owned.
४योसेफावर त्याची कृपादृष्टी झाली. त्याने पोटीफराची सेवा केली. पोटीफराने योसेफाला आपल्या घराचा कारभारी केले आणि त्याचे जे काही स्वतःचे होते ते सर्व त्याच्या ताब्यात दिले.
5 From the time he put Joseph in charge and trusted him with all he had, the Lord blessed Potiphar's household because of Joseph. The Lord blessed everything he had, whether in his house or in his fields.
५तेव्हा त्याने आपल्या घरात आणि आपले जे काही होते त्या सर्वावर योसेफाला कारभारी केले तेव्हापासून परमेश्वराने योसेफामुळे त्या मिसऱ्याच्या घरास आशीर्वाद दिला. घरात व शेतीत जे काही पोटीफराच्या मालकीचे होते त्या सर्वावर परमेश्वराचा आशीर्वाद होता.
6 So Potiphar left Joseph to care for everything he owned. He didn't bother with anything except to decide what food he was going to eat. Now Joseph was handsome, having a good physique,
६पोटीफराने आपल्या घरादाराचा सर्व कारभार योसेफाच्या हवाली केला. तो जे अन्न खात असे, त्या पलीकडे कशाचाही तो विचार करत नव्हता. योसेफ फार देखणा व आकर्षक होता.
7 so some time later he caught the eye of his master's wife. She propositioned him, saying, “Come here! Sleep with me!”
७काही काळानंतर त्याच्या धन्याच्या पत्नीला योसेफाविषयी वासना निर्माण झाली. ती म्हणाली, “माझ्याबरोबर प्रेम कर.”
8 But he turned her down, telling his master's wife, “Look, my master trusts me so much he doesn't even bother to find out how his household is running. He's put me in charge of everything he owns—
८परंतु त्याने नकार दिला. तो त्याच्या धन्याच्या पत्नीला म्हणाला, “पाहा, घरात मी काय करतो याकडे माझा धनी लक्ष देत नाही आणि जे काही त्याचे आहे ते सर्व त्याने माझ्या ताब्यात सोपवले आहे.
9 no one in this house has more authority than me! He hasn't held back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. So how could I do such an evil thing as this, and sin against God?”
९या घरात माझ्यापेक्षा कोणीही मोठा नाही. तू त्याची पत्नी आहेस म्हणून तुझ्यावाचून त्याने माझ्यापासून काहीही राखून ठेवले नाही. असे असताना, देवाच्याविरूद्ध हे घोर पाप व मोठी दुष्टाई मी कशी करू?”
10 Day after day she persisted in asking him, but he refused to sleep with her and tried to avoid her.
१०ती दररोज योसेफाबरोबर तेच बोलत असे, परंतु त्याने तिच्याबरोबर निजण्यास व प्रेम करण्यास नकार दिला.
11 But one day he went into the house to do his work and none of the other servants were there.
११एके दिवशी योसेफ आपले काही काम करण्याकरता आतल्या घरात गेला. तो तेथे अगदी एकटाच होता व घरात दुसरे कोणीही नव्हते.
12 She grabbed him by his clothing, and demanded, “Sleep with me!” But leaving his clothing in her hand, he ran out of the house.
१२तिने त्याचे वस्त्र धरून त्यास म्हटले “तू माझ्यापाशी नीज.” परंतु तो ते वस्त्र तिच्या हातात सोडून आतल्या घरातून बाहेर पळून गेला.
13 Seeing that he'd left his clothing in her hand, and had ran out of the house,
१३तेव्हा तो त्याचे वस्त्र आपल्या हाती सोडून आणि बाहेर पळून गेला हे तिने पाहिले.
14 she shouted out to her servants, “Look at this! He brought this Hebrew slave here to dishonor us! This man came to try and rape me, but I screamed at the top of my voice.
१४आणि तिने हाक मारून तिच्या घरातील मनुष्यांना बोलावले. आणि ती म्हणाली, “पाहा, पोटीफराने या इब्र्याला आमच्या घरच्या मनुष्यांची अब्रू घेण्यासाठी आणून ठेवले आहे. त्याने आत येऊन माझ्यावर बळजबरी करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. परंतु मी मोठ्याने ओरडले.
15 When he heard me scream for help, he left his clothing beside me and ran outside.”
१५मी मोठ्याने ओरडले त्यामुळे त्याचे वस्त्र माइयापाशी टाकून तो पळाला आणि बाहेर गेला.”
16 She kept his clothing with her until her husband came home.
१६तेव्हा त्याचा धनी घरी येईपर्यंत तिने त्याचे वस्त्र आपल्याजवळ ठेवले.
17 Then she told him her story. It went like this: “That Hebrew slave you brought here tried to come and dishonor me.
१७नंतर तिने त्यास सांगितले. ती म्हणाली, “तुम्ही हा जो इब्री घरी आणून ठेवला आहे त्याने माझ्यावर बळजबरी करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला.
18 But as soon as I screamed and called for help, he left his clothing beside me and ran outside.”
१८परंतु तो माझ्याजवळ आल्यावर मी मोठ्याने ओरडले म्हणून तो आपले वस्त्र माझ्याजवळ टाकून बाहेर पळून गेला.”
19 When Potiphar heard the story his wife told him, saying, “This is what your servant did to me,” he became angry.
१९आणि असे झाले की, त्याच्या धन्याने पत्नीचे बोलणे ऐकले, ती त्यास म्हणाली की, “तुझ्या सेवकाने माझ्याशी असे वर्तन केले,” तो खूप संतापला.
20 He took Joseph and put him in the prison where the king's prisoners were kept, and there he stayed.
२०योसेफाच्या धन्याने त्यास धरले आणि जेथे राजाच्या कैद्यांना कोंडत असत त्या तुरुंगात टाकले. योसेफ त्या तुरुंगात राहिला.
21 But the Lord was with Joseph, showing him trustworthy love, and made the chief jailer pleased with him.
२१परंतु परमेश्वर देव योसेफाबरोबर होता, आणि त्याने त्यास कराराची सत्यता दाखवली. त्याने तुरुंगाच्या अधिकाऱ्याची त्याच्यावर कृपादृष्टी होईल असे केले.
22 So the chief jailer put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners there and gave him the responsibility for running the prison.
२२त्या अधिकाऱ्याने तुरुंगातील सर्व कैद्यांना योसेफाच्या स्वाधीन केले. ते तेथे जे काही करीत होते, त्याचा योसेफ प्रमुख होता.
23 The chief jailer didn't bother with anything for Joseph took care of it all for the Lord was with him and made him successful.
२३तुरुंगाचा अधिकारी त्याच्या हाताखालील कोणत्याही कामाबद्दल काळजी करीत नसे. कारण परमेश्वर त्याच्याबरोबर होता. तो जे काही करी, त्यामध्ये परमेश्वर देव त्यास यश देई.
