Philemon 1
1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, a brother: to Philemon, our beloved and fellow labourer;
Paulus, der im Dienst Christi Jesu in Ketten liegt, und der Bruder Timotheus, wir entbieten unserem geliebten Mitarbeiter Philemon,
2 And to Appia, our dearest sister, and to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church which is in thy house:
unserer Schwester Appia, unserem Mitkämpfer Archippus und deiner Hausgemeinde unseren Gruß.
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus!
4 I give thanks to my God, always making a remembrance of thee in my prayers.
Ich danke meinem Gott jedesmal, wenn ich dein in meinen Gebeten gedenke.
5 Hearing of thy charity and faith, which thou hast in the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints:
Höre ich doch fort und fort von deinem Glauben an den Herrn Jesus und von deiner Liebe zu allen Heiligen.
6 That the communication of thy faith may be made evident in the acknowledgment of every good work, that is in you in Christ Jesus.
Ich bete nun, die Glaubensgemeinschaft, in der du mit uns stehst, möge sich wirksam zeigen für die Sache Christi, so daß du alle uns verliehenen Heilsgüter dankbar zu schätzen wissest.
7 For I have had great joy and consolation in thy charity, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed by thee, brother.
Ja, durch deine (werktätige) Liebe habe ich viel Freude und Trost gehabt. Denn du, teurer Bruder, hast die Herzen der Heiligen erquickt.
8 Wherefore though I have much confidence in Christ Jesus, to command thee that which is to the purpose:
Kraft meiner Gemeinschaft mit Christus könnte ich sehr kühn auftreten und dir vorschreiben, was du zu tun hast.
9 For charity sake I rather beseech, whereas thou art such a one, as Paul an old man, and now a prisoner also of Jesus Christ.
Wenn ich aber an deine Liebe denke, so ziehe ich's vor, dir mit einer Bitte zu kommen. Ich, Paulus, ein alter Mann und jetzt noch obendrein um Christi willen in Gefangenschaft,
10 I beseech thee for my son, whom I have begotten in my bands, Onesimus,
ich bitte dich für mein liebes Kind, dessen Vater ich in meinem Gefängnis geworden bin: für Onesimus.
11 Who hath been heretofore unprofitable to thee, but now is profitable both to me and thee,
Der hat sich zwar früher bei dir als Nichtsnutz gezeigt, nun aber kann er uns beiden, dir und mir, von großen Nutzen sein.
12 Whom I have sent back to thee. And do thou receive him as my own bowels.
Ich schicke ihn dir zurück, ihn, das heißt: mein eigen Herz.
13 Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered to me in the bands of the gospel:
Ich hätte ihn freilich gern an deiner Statt zu meinem Dienste hier behalten, während ich der Frohen Botschaft wegen im Gefängnis bin.
14 But without thy counsel I would do nothing: that thy good deed might not be as it were of necessity, but voluntary.
Aber ohne deine Erlaubnis will ich nichts tun, denn du sollst dich nicht gleichsam gezwungen, sondern ganz freiwillig gütig zeigen.
15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season from thee, that thou mightest receive him again for ever: (aiōnios g166)
Vielleicht ist er auch gerade darum für kurze Zeit von dir getrennt worden, damit du ihn auf ewig zu eigen hättest — (aiōnios g166)
16 Not now as a servant, but instead of a servant, a most dear brother, especially to me: but how much more to thee both in the flesh and in the Lord?
nicht mehr als Sklaven, nein, als einen, der viel höher steht als ein Sklave: als einen geliebten Bruder. Das ist er im schönsten Sinne mir, und dir wird er's noch mehr sein. Denn dir ist er ja zwiefach verbunden: dem Fleisch nach und auch im Herrn.
17 If therefore thou count me a partner, receive him as myself.
Hältst du mich nun für deinen Freund, so nimm ihn auf wie mich selbst!
18 And if he hath wronged thee in any thing, or is in thy debt, put that to my account.
Und hat er dich geschädigt, oder schuldet er dir etwas, so schreib es nur auf meine Rechnung!
19 I Paul have written it with my own hand: I will repay it: not to say to thee, that thou owest me thy own self also.
Ich, Paulus, — das gebe ich dir hier schriftlich — ich will's bezahlen. Ich will hier gar nicht davon reden, daß du bei mir noch Schulden hast: du schuldest mir dich selbst.
20 Yea, brother. May I enjoy thee in the Lord. Refresh my bowels in the Lord.
Ja, Bruder, jetzt will ich Nutzen von dir ziehen im Sinne des Herrn. Mach meinem Herzen eine Freude, wie es Christus wohlgefällt!
21 Trusting in thy obedience, I have written to thee: knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
Ich schreibe dir in der festen Überzeugung, daß du meinen Wunsch erfüllst. Ja ich weiß, du wirst noch viel mehr tun, als ich verlange.
22 But withal prepare me also a lodging. For I hope that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
Zugleich aber rüste dich auch, mich als Gast aufzunehmen! Denn ich hoffe, ich werde euch durch eure Gebete wiedergeschenkt.
23 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus;
Epaphras, der um Christi Jesu willen meine Gefangenschaft teilt,
24 Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke my fellow labourers.
und meine Mitarbeiter Markus, Aristarchus, Demas und Lukas senden dir Grüße.
25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
Die Gnade des Herrn Jesus Christus sei mit euerm Geiste! Amen.
