1 John 3
1 Behold what manner of charity the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called, and should be the sons of God. Therefore the world knoweth not us, because it knew not him.
Seht, welch große Liebe hat uns der Vater bewiesen! Wir sollen Gottes Kinder heißen und sind es auch. Darum erkennt die Welt uns nicht, denn sie hat ihn nicht erkannt.
2 Dearly beloved, we are now the sons of God; and it hath not yet appeared what we shall be. We know, that, when he shall appear, we shall be like to him: because we shall see him as he is.
Geliebte, jetzt schon sind wir Gottes Kinder. Aber es ist noch nicht offenbar geworden, was wir sein sollen. Wir wissen jedoch: wenn er erscheint, so werden wir ihm ähnlich sein; denn wir werden ihn sehen.
3 And every one that hath this hope in him, sanctifieth himself, as he also is holy.
Wer solche Hoffnung hat im Vertrauen auf ihn, der reinigt sich, wie Er rein ist.
4 Whosoever committeth sin committeth also iniquity; and sin is iniquity.
Wer die Sünde tut, der frevelt auch gegen das Gesetz; denn die Sünde ist Gesetzlosigkeit.
5 And you know that he appeared to take away our sins, and in him there is no sin.
Ihr wißt aber: Er ist erschienen, um die Sünden zu tilgen, und in ihm ist keine Sünde.
6 Whosoever abideth in him, sinneth not; and whosoever sinneth, hath not seen him, nor known him.
Wer in ihm bleibt, der sündigt nicht. Wer sündigt, der hat ihn nicht gesehen noch erkannt.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you. He that doth justice is just, even as he is just.
Liebe Kinder, laßt euch von niemand irreführen. Wer Gerechtigkeit übt, der ist gerecht, wie Er gerecht ist.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Wer die Sünde tut, der stammt vom Teufel; denn der Teufel sündigt von Anfang an. Dazu ist Gottes Sohn erschienen, daß er des Teufels Werke zerstöre.
9 Whosoever is born of God, committeth not sin: for his seed abideth in him, and he can not sin, because he is born of God.
Jeder, der aus Gott gezeugt ist, tut keine Sünde; denn sein Same bleibt in ihm. Ja er kann nicht sündigen, denn er ist aus Gott gezeugt.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil. Whosoever is not just, is not of God, nor he that loveth not his brother.
Daran erkennt man Gottes Kinder und des Teufels Kinder. Jeder, der nicht Gerechtigkeit übt, stammt nicht von Gott, ebenso auch, wer seinen Bruder nicht liebt.
11 For this is the declaration, which you have heard from the beginning, that you should love one another.
Denn dies ist die Botschaft, die ihr von Anfang an gehört: wir sollen einander lieben.
12 Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one, and killed his brother. And wherefore did he kill him? Because his own works were wicked: and his brother’s just.
Wir sollen nicht Kain gleichen, der von dem Bösen stammte und seinen Bruder mordete. Und warum hat er ihn ermordet? Weil seine Taten böse waren, seines Bruders Taten aber gerecht.
13 Wonder not, brethren, if the world hate you.
Wundert euch nicht, meine Brüder, wenn die Welt euch haßt.
14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not, abideth in death.
Wir wissen: wir sind aus dem Tod zum Leben gelangt, weil wir die Brüder lieben. Wer keine Liebe hat, der bleibt im Tod.
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in himself. (aiōnios g166)
Wer seinen Bruder haßt, der ist ein Mörder; und ihr wißt: in einem Mörder wohnt nicht das ewige Leben. (aiōnios g166)
16 In this we have known the charity of God, because he hath laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Daran haben wir das wahre Wesen der Liebe erkannt, daß Er sein Leben zu unserem Heil dahingegeben hat. So ist's auch unsere Pflicht, unser Leben zum Besten der Brüder einzusetzen.
17 He that hath the substance of this world, and shall see his brother in need, and shall shut up his bowels from him: how doth the charity of God abide in him?
Wer irdische Güter hat und seinen Bruder Not leiden sieht, aber sein Herz vor ihm verschließt: wie kann in dem die Liebe zu Gott noch wohnen?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, nor in tongue, but in deed, and in truth.
Liebe Kinder, laßt uns nicht lieben mit Worten und mit der Zunge, sondern mit der Tat und in Wahrheit!
19 In this we know that we are of the truth: and in his sight shall persuade our hearts.
Daran werden wir dann auch erkennen, daß wir aus der Wahrheit sind, und dadurch können wir unser Herz vor seinem Angesicht zur Ruhe bringen,
20 For if our heart reprehend us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
daß wir bedenken, wenn unser Herz uns anklagt: Gott ist größer als unser Herz, und er weiß alles.
21 Dearly beloved, if our heart do not reprehend us, we have confidence towards God:
Geliebte, wenn unser Herz uns nicht anklagt, so haben wir freudige Zuversicht zu Gott.
22 And whatsoever we shall ask, we shall receive of him: because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight.
Und was wir erbitten, das empfangen wir auch von ihm; denn wir halten seine Gebote und tun, was ihm wohlgefällig ist.
23 And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ: and love one another, as he hath given commandment unto us.
Und dies ist sein Gebot: Wir sollen glauben an den Namen seines Sohnes Jesus Christus und einander lieben, wie er uns geboten.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments, abideth in him, and he in him. And in this we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
Wer seine Gebote hält, der bleibt in ihm und er in ihm. Und daß er bleibend in uns wohnt, erkennen wir an dem Geist, den er uns gegeben.
