Psalms 89
1 An instruction. Of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the loving-kindness of Jehovah for ever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness from generation to generation.
Eine Betrachtung Etans, des Esrahiters. Jahwes Gnaden will ich ewig besingen, / Für und für deine Treue verkünden.
2 For I said, Loving-kindness shall be built up for ever; in the very heavens wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.
Denn ich sage: Der Gnadenbau währet für immer, / Am Himmel befestigst du deine Treu.
3 I have made a covenant with mine elect, I have sworn unto David my servant:
"Ich schloß einen Bund mit meinem Erwählten, / Hab meinem Knechte David geschworen:
4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne from generation to generation. (Selah)
Auf ewig laß ich deinen Samen bestehn, / Deinen Thron will ich baun für alle Geschlechter." (Sela)
5 And the heavens shall celebrate thy wonders, O Jehovah, and thy faithfulness in the congregation of the saints.
Da priesen die Himmel, o Jahwe, dein Wunder, / Deine Treu in der Heilgen Versammlung.
6 For who in the heaven can be compared to Jehovah? [who] among the sons of the mighty shall be likened to Jehovah?
Denn wer in den Wolken ist Jahwe ähnlich, / Wer gleicht ihm unter den Gottessöhnen?
7 God is greatly to be feared in the council of the saints, and terrible for all that are round about him.
Man fürchtet Gott sehr in der Heiligen Rat; / Es scheuen ihn alle, die um ihn sind.
8 Jehovah, God of hosts, who is like unto thee, the strong Jah? And thy faithfulness is round about thee.
Jahwe, der Heerscharen Gott, wer ist wie du? / Jah, du bist stark, / Und deine Treue ist um dich her.
9 Thou rulest the pride of the sea: when its waves arise, thou stillest them.
Du bändigst des Meeres Stolz; / Wenn sich seine Wogen türmen — du stillest sie.
10 Thou hast crushed Rahab as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with the arm of thy strength.
Du hast ja Rahab zermalmt wie einen Durchbohrten, / Mit deinem starken Arm hast du deine Feinde zerstreut.
11 Thine are the heavens, the earth also is thine; the world and its fulness, thou hast founded them.
Dein ist der Himmel, dein auch die Erde; / Die Welt und was sie füllet — du hast sie gegründet.
12 The north and the south, thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon triumph in thy name.
Norden und Süden — du hast sie geschaffen. / Tabor und Hermon jauchzen ob deines Namens.
13 Thine is the arm of might: strong is thy hand, high is thy right hand.
Dein ist ein Arm mit Heldenkraft. / Mächtig ist deine Hand, deine Rechte erhaben.
14 Righteousness and judgment are the foundation of thy throne; loving-kindness and truth go before thy face.
Gerechtigkeit und Recht sind deines Thrones Stützen, / Gnade und Treue gehn vor dir her.
15 Blessed is the people that know the shout of joy: they walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance.
Heil dem Volke, das Jubel kennt, / Das im Licht deines Angesichts wandelt, o Jahwe!
16 In thy name are they joyful all the day, and in thy righteousness are they exalted.
Ob deines Namens werden sie allzeit jubeln, / Und durch deine Treue stehen sie aufrecht da.
17 For thou art the glory of their strength; and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
Denn du gibst die Kraft, die sie schmückt, / Durch deine Huld machst du uns mächtig.
18 For Jehovah is our shield, and the Holy One of Israel, our king.
Denn von Jahwe kommt unser Schutz, / Und der Heilige Israels schirmt unsern König.
19 Then thou spakest in vision of thy Holy One, and saidst, I have laid help upon a mighty one; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
Damals hast du im Gesicht gesprochen zu deinen Vertrauten: / Ich habe einem Helden Beistand geliehn, / Einen Jüngling erhöht aus dem Volk.
20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
Meinen Knecht David hab ich gefunden, / Mit meinem heilgen Öl ihn gesalbt.
21 With whom my hand shall be established; and mine arm shall strengthen him.
Meine Hand soll ihn stützen, / Auch mein Arm ihn stärken.
22 No enemy shall exact upon him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him;
Kein Feind darf ihn unversehns überfallen, / Kein Frevler ihn drücken.
23 But I will beat down his adversaries before his face, and will smite them that hate him.
Seine Dränger will ich vor ihm zerschmettern, / Und, die ihn hassen, schlagen.
24 And my faithfulness and my loving-kindness shall be with him, and by my name shall his horn be exalted.
Ihn aber soll meine Treue und Gnade begleiten, / Und durch meinen Namen wird groß seine Macht.
25 And I will set his hand in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.
Seine Hand will ich legen aufs Meer / Und auf die Ströme seine Rechte.
26 He shall call unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation;
Er wird zu mir sprechen: 'Mein Vater bist du, / Mein Gott und der Hort, der mir hilft.'
27 And as to me, I will make him firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
Und ich will ihn machen zum Erstgebornen, / Zum höchsten der Könige auf Erden.
28 My loving-kindness will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him;
Auf ewig will ich ihm meine Huld bewahren, / Und es bleibt mein Bund ihm getreu.
29 And I will establish his seed for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Seine Nachkommen will ich für immer erhalten, / Seinen Thron, solange der Himmel währt.
30 If his sons forsake my law, and walk not in mine ordinances;
Verlassen seine Söhne mein Gesetz, / Und wandeln sie nicht nach meinen Rechten,
31 If they profane my statutes, and keep not my commandments:
Entweihen sie meine Satzungen, / Und halten sie meine Gebote nicht:
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
So straf ich zwar mit dem Stab ihre Vergehn / Und ihre Verschuldung mit Schlägen;
33 Nevertheless my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor belie my faithfulness;
Meine Huld aber werd ich ihm nicht entziehn / Und meine Treue nicht brechen.
34 My covenant will I not profane, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
Ich will meinen Bund nicht entweihn / Und meiner Lippen Versprechen nicht ändern.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness; I will not lie unto David:
Eins hab ich geschworen bei meiner Heiligkeit: / David werd ich wahrlich nicht lügen.
36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me;
Seine Nachkommen sollen ewig bleiben, / Sein Thron vor mir stehn so lang wie die Sonne,
37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and the witness in the sky is firm. (Selah)
Wie der Mond, der für immer bleibt / Als ein dauernder Zeuge in dem Gewölk." (Sela)
38 But thou hast rejected and cast off; thou hast been very wroth with thine anointed:
Und dennoch hast du verschmäht und verworfen! / Du hast über deinen Gesalbten gezürnt,
39 Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant; thou hast profaned his crown to the ground:
Hast aufgehoben den Bund mit deinem Knecht, / Seine Krone entweiht und zu Boden geworfen.
40 Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin.
Du hast all seine Mauern zerrissen, / Seine Festen in Trümmer gelegt.
41 All that pass by the way plunder him; he is become a reproach to his neighbours.
Alle, die des Weges zogen, haben ihn geplündert, / Er ist seinen Nachbarn zum Hohn geworden.
42 Thou hast exalted the right hand of his oppressors; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice:
Seiner Dränger Macht hast du erhöht, / Hast all seine Feinde mit Freude erfüllt.
43 Yea, thou hast turned back the edge of his sword, and hast not made him stand in the battle.
Auch hast du zurückgedrängt sein scharfes Schwert / Und ihm im Kriege nicht Sieg verliehn.
44 Thou hast made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground;
Du hast seinen Glanz zerstört / Und seinen Thron zu Boden gestürzt.
45 The days of his youth hast thou shortened; thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
Du hast die Zeit seiner Jugend verkürzt, / Ihn mit Schande bedeckt. (Sela)
46 How long, Jehovah, wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy fury burn like fire?
Wie lange, Jahwe, willst du dich verbergen? Etwa für immer? / Soll denn dein Grimm wie Feuer brennen?
47 Remember, as regards me, what life is. Wherefore hast thou created all the children of men to be vanity?
Gedenke, wie kurz mein Leben ist, / Wie vergänglich du schufst alle Menschenkinder!
48 What man liveth, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Wer bliebe am Leben und stürbe nicht, / Wer könnte entrinnen des Todes Macht? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
49 Where, Lord, are thy former loving-kindnesses, [which] thou swarest unto David in thy faithfulness?
Wo sind, Adonái, deine frühern Gnaden, / Die du David geschworen in deiner Treu?
50 Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants — that I bear in my bosom [that of] all the mighty peoples —
Gedenk, Adonái, deiner Knechte Schmach! / Gedenke, daß ich in meinem Busen / Trage die vielen Völker alle!
51 Wherewith thine enemies, O Jehovah, have reproached, wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.
Gedenke, Jahwe, wie deine Feinde gelästert haben, / Wie sie gelästert / Deines Gesalbten Fersen!
52 Blessed be Jehovah for evermore! Amen, and Amen.
Gepriesen sei Jahwe in Ewigkeit! / Amen. Amen.
