Job 33
1 Howbeit, Job, I pray thee, hear mine utterances, and hearken to all my words.
No azért halld meg csak Jób az én szavaimat, és vedd füledbe minden beszédemet!
2 Behold now, I have opened my mouth, my tongue speaketh in my palate,
Ímé, megnyitom már az én szájamat, és a beszéd nyelvem alatt van már.
3 My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart, and my lips shall utter knowledge purely.
Igaz szívből származnak beszédeim, tiszta tudományt hirdetnek ajkaim.
4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Az Istennek lelke teremtett engem, és a Mindenhatónak lehellete adott nékem életet.
5 If thou canst, answer me; array [thy words] before me: take thy stand.
Ha tudsz, czáfolj meg; készülj fel ellenem és állj elő!
6 Behold, before God I am as thou; I also am formed out of the clay.
Ímé, én szintúgy Istené vagyok, mint te; sárból formáltattam én is.
7 Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, nor my burden be heavy upon thee.
Ímé, a tőlem való félelem meg ne háborítson; kezem nem lészen súlyos rajtad.
8 Surely thou hast spoken in my hearing, and I have heard the voice of [thy] words: —
Csak az imént mondtad fülem hallatára, hallottam a beszédnek hangját:
9 I am clean without transgression; I am pure, and there is no iniquity in me;
Tiszta vagyok, fogyatkozás nélkül: mocsoktalan vagyok, bűn nincsen bennem.
10 Lo, he findeth occasions of hostility against me, he counteth me for his enemy;
Ímé, vádakat talál ki ellenem, ellenségének tart engem!
11 He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
Békóba veti lábaimat, és őrzi minden ösvényemet.
12 Behold, I will answer thee in this, thou art not right; for God is greater than man.
Ímé, ebben nincsen igazad – azt felelem néked – mert nagyobb az Isten az embernél!
13 Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
Miért perelsz vele? Azért, hogy egyetlen beszédedre sem felelt?
14 For God speaketh once, and twice, — [and man] perceiveth it not —
Hiszen szól az Isten egyszer vagy kétszer is, de nem ügyelnek rá!
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
Álomban, éjjeli látomásban, mikor mély álom száll az emberre, és mikor ágyasházokban szenderegnek;
16 Then he openeth men's ears, and sealeth their instruction,
Akkor nyitja meg az emberek fülét, és megpecsételi megintetésökkel.
17 That he may withdraw man [from his] work, and hide pride from man.
Hogy eltérítse az embert a rossz cselekedettől, és elrejtse a kevélységet a férfi elől.
18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from passing away by the sword.
Visszatartja lelkét a romlástól, és életét hogy azt fegyver ne járja át.
19 He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and with constant strife in his bones;
Fájdalommal is bünteti az ő ágyasházában, és csontjainak szüntelen való háborgásával.
20 And his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty food;
Úgy, hogy az ő ínye undorodik az ételtől, és lelke az ő kedves ételétől.
21 His flesh is consumed away from view, and his bones that were not seen stick out;
Húsa szemlátomást aszik le róla; csontjai, a melyeket látni nem lehetett, kiülnek.
22 And his soul draweth near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers.
És lelke közelget a sírhoz, s élete a halál angyalaihoz.
23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his duty;
Ha van mellette magyarázó angyal, egy az ezer közül, hogy az emberrel tudassa kötelességét;
24 Then he will be gracious unto him, and say, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
És az Isten könyörül rajta, és azt mondja: Szabadítsd meg őt, hogy ne szálljon a sírba; váltságdíjat találtam!
25 His flesh shall be fresher than in childhood; he shall return to the days of his youth.
Akkor teste fiatal, erőtől duzzad, újra kezdi ifjúságának napjait.
26 He shall pray unto God, and he will receive him with favour; and he shall see his face with shoutings, and he will render unto man his righteousness.
Imádkozik Istenhez és ő kegyelmébe veszi, hogy az ő színét nézhesse nagy örömmel, és az embernek visszaadja az ő igazságát.
27 He will sing before men, and say, I have sinned, and perverted what was right, and it hath not been requited to me;
Az emberek előtt énekel és mondja: Vétkeztem és az igazat elferdítettem vala, de nem e szerint fizetett meg nékem;
28 He hath delivered my soul from going into the pit, and my life shall see the light.
Megváltotta lelkemet a sírba szállástól, és egész valóm a világosságot nézi.
29 Lo, all these [things] worketh God twice, thrice, with man,
Ímé, mindezt kétszer, háromszor cselekszi Isten az emberrel,
30 To bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.
Hogy megmentse lelkét a sírtól, hogy világoljon az élet világosságával.
31 Mark well, Job, hearken unto me; be silent, and I will speak.
Figyelj Jób, és hallgass meg engem; hallgass, hadd szóljak én!
32 If thou hast anything to say, answer me; speak, for I desire to justify thee.
Ha van mit mondanod, czáfolj meg; szólj, mert igen szeretném a te igazságodat.
33 If not, hearken thou unto me; be silent, and I will teach thee wisdom.
Ha pedig nincs, hallgass meg engem, hallgass és megtanítlak téged a bölcseségre!
