< Amos 2 >

1 Thus saith the Lord; For three sins of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away from it; because they burnt the bones of the king of Idumea to lime.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Koeʻuhi ko e talangataʻa ʻe tolu ʻa Moape, mo hono fā, ʻe ʻikai te u fakaafe [hono tautea ʻo ia]; he naʻa ne taʻo ʻae ngaahi hui ʻae tuʻi ʻo ʻItomi ke lahe:
2 But I will send forth a fire on Moab, and it shall devour the foundations of its cities: and Moab shall perish in weakness, with a shout, and with the sound of a trumpet.
Ka te u fekau ʻae afi ki Moape, pea te ne kai ʻo ʻosi ʻae ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻo Kiliote: pea ʻe mate ʻa Moape ʻi he maveuveu, mo e kaila, pea mo e ongo ʻoe meʻalea:
3 And I will destroy the judge out of her, and slay all her princes with him, saith the Lord.
Pea te u motuhi ʻae fakamaau mei honau haʻohaʻonga, pea tāmateʻi ʻae houʻeiki kotoa pē mo ia:” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.”
4 Thus saith the Lord; For three sins of the children of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away from him; because they have rejected the law of the Lord, and have not kept his ordinances, and their vain [idols] which they made, which their fathers followed, caused them to err.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Koeʻuhi ko e talangataʻa ʻe tolu ʻa Siuta, pea mo hono fā, ʻe ʻikai te u fakaafe hono [tautea ʻo ia]; he kuo nau vaʻinga ʻaki ʻae fono ʻa Sihova, pea naʻe ʻikai te nau tauhi ʻene ngaahi fekau, pea naʻa nau hē ko e meʻa ʻi heʻenau loi, ʻaia naʻe muimui ki ai ʻenau ngaahi tamai:
5 And I will send a fire on Juda, and it shall devour the foundations of Jerusalem.
Ka te u fekau ʻae afi ki Siuta, pea te ne kai ʻo ʻosi ʻae ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻo Selūsalema.”
6 Thus saith the Lord; for three sins of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away from him; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for sandals,
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Koeʻuhi ko e talangataʻa ʻe tolu ʻa ʻIsileli, pea mo hono fā, ʻe ʻikai te u fakaafe [hono tautea ʻo ia]; he kuo nau fakatau ʻae kakai māʻoniʻoni ki he siliva, pea mo e kakai masiva ʻaki ha topuvaʻe;
7 wherewith to tread on the dust of the earth, and they have smitten upon the heads of the poor, and have perverted the way of the lowly: and a son and his father have gone into the same maid, that they might profane the name of their God.
‌ʻAia ʻoku feinga ke ʻai ʻae efu ʻoe kelekele ʻi he ʻulu ʻoe kakai masiva, pea ʻoku fakahēʻi ʻae hala ʻoe angamalū: pea ko e tangata mo ʻene tamai ʻoku na mohe ki he fefine pe taha, ke fakaongokovi hoku huafa tāpuhā:
8 And binding their clothes with cords they have made them curtains near the altar, and they have drunk wine gained by extortion in the house of their God.
Pea ʻoku nau tokoto ʻi he ngaahi kofu ʻoku tuku ko e fakamoʻoni ki he totongi ʻi he veʻe feilaulauʻanga kotoa pē, pea ʻoku nau inu ʻae uaine ʻoe halaia ʻi he fale ʻo ʻenau tamapua.
9 Nevertheless I cut off the Amorite from before them, whose height was as the height of a cedar, and he was strong as an oak; and I dried up his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
10 And I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you about in the desert forty years, that ye should inherit the land of the Amorites.
Pea naʻaku ʻomi foki ʻakimoutolu mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite, pea naʻaku tataki ʻakimoutolu ʻi he toafa ʻi he taʻu ʻe fāngofulu, ke maʻu ʻae fonua ʻoe kakai ʻAmoli.
11 And I took of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for consecration. Are not these things so, ye sons of Israel? saith the Lord.
Pea naʻaku tuʻutuʻuni mei ho ngaahi foha ʻae kau palōfita, pea mei hoʻo kau talavou ʻae kakai naʻe fakamavahe. ʻIkai ʻoku pehē pe, ʻe fānau ʻa ʻIsileli?” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
12 But ye gave the consecrated ones wine to drink; and ye commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
“Ka naʻa mou ʻatu ʻae uaine ke inu ʻe he kau Fakamavahe; pea ne mou fekau ʻae kau palōfita, ʻo pehē, ‘ʻOua naʻa kikite.’
13 Therefore, behold, I roll under you, as a waggon full of straw is rolled.
Vakai, ʻoku ou taʻomia ʻiate kimoutolu, hangē ko e saliote ʻi he ngaahi ʻū koane.
14 And flight shall perish from the runner, and the strong shall not hold fast his strength, and the warrior shall not save his life:
Ko ia ʻe mole ʻae faʻa lele mei he veʻe vave, pea ko e mālohi ʻe ʻikai te ne fakamālohiʻi ʻe ia ia; pea ʻe ʻikai fakahaofi ʻae mālohi ʻe ia ia:
15 and the archer shall not withstand, and he that is swift of foot shall in no wise escape; and the horseman shall not save his life.
Pea ʻe ʻikai tuʻu ia ʻoku ne teke ʻae kaufana; pea ʻe ʻikai fakahaofi ʻae veʻe vave ʻe ia ia: pea ko ia ʻoku heka hoosi ʻe ʻikai fakahaofi ʻe ia ia.
16 And the strong shall find no confidence in power: the naked shall flee away in that day, saith the Lord.
Pea ko ia ʻoku lototoʻa ʻi he kau mālohi te ne hola telefua ʻi he ʻaho ko ia,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
